Title: Not Impressed At All!!!
Description: Westlife Concert

Right, I'm off on a rant, so beware

I have just got home from seeing Westlife play at The Point in Dublin, it's 11.55pm!!!! So what am I so unimpressed about........

Well, as you can imagine Westlife are huge over here, and every year they play about 10 - 12 nights in The Point. Every man and his dog goes to see them, and every kid begs their poor mammy's to take them. So this year I finally gave in and allowed my 6 year old to go. After forking out 98 euro for the tickets - which is not cheap for any single parent to have to pay out, so thank god I only have the one child!!! So for weeks now my daughter has been extremely excited about tonight.

I have been to watch Westlife many times before, and to me it's a show thats geared towards the kids that go to watch them. They come on stage bang on 8pm and are finished for 9.30/9.45 at the latest so the kids can get home to bed and up for school the next day.

So tonight when the support act finished at 5 to 8 (the god awful McDonald Brothers off X-Factor) I thought that in a few minutes time Westlife would be out. So we waited and waited and waited. My poor child started to complain of being bored and tired and still we waited. When they eventually came on stage at 9.30 (!!!!!!) the poor child had pretty much given up all hope and was asking to go home. She was briefly cheered up after the first couple of songs, but then the lads of Westlife appeared to reveal why they where so late coming on stage - they had been watching the bloody match!!!!!!

So the concert went on, with a pretty naff atmosphere as half the kids where either asleep or dead on their poor little feet and the parents where none to impressed. Eventually my daughter fell asleep as well, but I was damed if I was leaving early after paying that much money. So we stayed to the end, and I managed to wake her up for the last couple of songs.

My point to all this little rant, is that I'm absolutely furious that a band like Westlife, who know full well that when performing in Ireland that a huge majority of their audience is made up of kids that have school the next day, should delay coming on stage for an hour and a half, because they want to watch a bloody football match.

I know that football is important to a lot of people, not in this case!! I wouldn't of cared if Ireland had been playing in the world cup final, everyone there had paid good money to see them on stage at a reasonable time. And they where also off stage at 10.40pm. An hour and 10 minutes. That's really not good at all in my book.

So needless to say we won't be going again, and if anyone else is thinking of going next year - don't bother  I for one will not be lining the pockets of money grabbing ba***rds that don't give a Sh*t about their young fans in their home town. And I will be saying that in the letter of complaint that I will be sending off tomorrow morning.

:( sorry to hear that Sam! Poor you havin' to endure the macdonald brothers :D .I totally get what you're saying it was very thoughtless of them to keep their paying audience waiting so long knowing full well that many of them would be children, and then not to be on stage for that long  They should put their fans 1st,and surely they could've missed the football, and you're not telling me those guys dont have sky plus, hope your daughter enjoyed what she did get to see, dont blame you for complaining, dont think you'll be alone, think i would too in your shoes, stick to the cd's it much cheaper and a lot less hassle ;)

Oh my GOD!! You would've thought they'd've had a bit of consideration, especially as some of them (or is it most of them now?!?!?!) are parents themselves. That's well out of order!!! Go vent your spleen at 'em Sam -- that's just not on!!! And an hour?!?!?! What kind of tight s*** is that?!?!? I'd ask for your money back m'love!!!

Sorry it was such a c*** night, but I hope the littl'un enjoyed what she did manage to see of it!! Massive hugs to you both Sam!!

Thats nothing short of a disgrace. How annoying, I would be furious if it were me! How rude for god's sake. Thats the trouble with some of these popstars, they have no consideration or respect for anyone else but themselves, it really makes me sick. They will soon take the fans money and scarper though.
It makes me more angry that it was the little kids who they treated like that, poor little things, its just not fair on them :(

I don't blame you for putting a complaint in, let us know what happens. Go and get yourself a cuppa to calm down :)

God thats terrible. I cant believe they kept people waiting for over an hour just to watch the match! They would never have donwe that when they were first starting out. People get too big for their boots. I think its awful that they take fans for granted ,knowing they can keep them waiting because they would never leave.

A very strong letter of complaint has now been sent to MCD the concert organisers and promoters and Sony BMG Ireland, their record company. And if I could find contact details for Louis Walsh then he'd be getting one as well.

Now I've actually thought about it some more I'm still furious about it, and on reflection the concert itself wasn't actually that good. I have always been impressed in the past, but on this occassion I felt that the lads didn't really give very much and merely got up on stage, did their routine and that was it.

So Westlife will not be getting a cent more of my money ever again, and I'll be making sure that I tell just about everyone I know about this experience to make sure they don't go parting with their cash as well.
