icklebelter - July 6, 2008 02:40 PM (GMT)
Hiya, just thought I'd mention that I now have details of this year's charity ball which is to be held on Saturday 18th October at The Palace Hotel in Manchester. Here is the latest and I wil post further info as and when I get it to keep you up to date. If you are interested in coming along for a great night out then please let me know as soon as you can - either post your interest on here or PM me or email me or whatever... you know the drill hehe. I know the do isn't until October but tickets are going fast so if you want to book a table for the forum I need to get it booked for ya's (table's seat 10 per table by the way and tickets arer piced at £50 per person - a bit more expensive than last year I know but this is due to us having it at a bigger venue this time) ;) :D At the moment I don't know details of 'celebs' attending but I think there is going to be a theme of a casino. Like I say though I'll post more info as and when I get it. Here's what I have for now:

"After last year’s successful dinner at the Midland Hotel back in October. I have enclosed details of this year’s Charity Fundraising Gala Ball on Saturday 18th October 2008, which will be held at the ever impressive and recently refurbished Palace Hotel on Oxford Road opposite the popular Theatre in Manchester.

This will be our 3RD dinner to be held in Manchester and the main reason’s we have moved venue’s are that we will have more room for the Champagne Reception and the ballroom boasts seating for up to 600 guests with a larger dance floor, Black Tie for the gents and posh frocks for the Ladies. There is also a special room rate of £109 B&B on a first come basis for those wishing to stay the evening.

We will again be inviting some of the families in the North West which DebRA supports, together with existing corporate and new supporters of the charity. Guests will enjoy a delicious meal, a charity auction, followed by a live band which again is the fantastic Halle’ Orchestra’s very own Rock band back by popular demand and possibly a surprise or Two.

This is a wonderful opportunity for your company to support the vital work of our charity. All monies raised from the dinner will help to support children and adults in the North West of England who rely on DebRA to provide care and support, including a team of 13 specially trained travelling nurses and a social team.

Our main goal is to find lasting effective treatment for EB, as it causes continuous blistering, pain and discomfort. Internal membranes, such as the oesophagus, may also blister, causing it to narrow which makes the eating of solids impossible. Scar tissue, formed as a result of blistering, causes toes and fingers to fuse together. With your support we can make life more bearable for families who live with EB everyday.

I would urge you to support our event and have enclosed details of a variety of packages available, together with some recent DebRA literature, please feel free to contact me anytime to discuss how you can support the Charity further.

Thanks for all your support last year for those who attended, and let’s hope we can raise more money than last year.

Yours sincerely,

Tony Eckersall
