Peter Kay has said that he admires Susan Boyle, though he will not aim to emulate the singer's success in the US.

The comedian was in Los Angeles to win the BAFTA/LA Best British Comedy Television Programme for his spoof talent show Britain's Got the Pop Factor, PA reports.

Kay said: "Oh God love Susan Boyle. God love 'er. I've nothing more to say about Susan, except God love 'er and God bless 'er."

He added: "I've no intention or inclination [of breaking America] - I'm not Russell Brand! They've asked me to make [a spoof talent show] over here.

"They've said would I do one but we'll see. You know, I don't like being away from home. I miss my children and my wife too much."
