Share your thoughts on this. Myself, I don't really see Infinity Ward's logic here. Dedicated servers have been the backbone of PC gaming for a decade. It is an integral part of it just like mouse and keyboard.
It's not like it would require any extra work for them. IW has been on the PC platform since the very beginning. I thought they understood the nature of PC gaming a little better than this.

Maybe to stop hackers/exploiters from testing/using hax/exploits without the risk of being banned.

Maybe to fuck the game over more. If it isn't deticated like MW1 it will suck major dick. Mainly because people will just set stupid boundaries and have the "funnest" maps. Which will quickly turn out to be the most hated after so long of using them. Oh well! Infinity Ward screws up alot. The amount of glitches in CoD4 piss me off a fucking lot. None of those are glitches.
DL Settings = Just a part of joining a game. You have to DL the settings of the match to play. Duh.
Error Joining = Internet problems
Unable to Connect = Internet problems
Jump Lag = Internet problems
Freeze = Leaving your PS3 on too long
Mic Problems = Bad mic and/or internet issues.
Auto Return to XMB = What the fuck? NEVER happened to me. Never even heard of that. Must only be you.

Oh, yeah. Custom textures are probably still going to be allowed. I just hope it's still the .IWD files and .DDS textures.

the 74u is amazing. I'm probably going to be it for the 360, because without custom servers on the pc, there isn't really a different from the pc and xbox version, other than the fact that the pc can be modded
