Title: Re4 On Windows 7
Description: bad fps since upgrade

darlredfish - December 31, 2009 08:01 PM (GMT)
I'm wondering if anyone out there has tried RE4 on windows 7 and if theyre getting the same result i am.

I was getting 30fps on vista and 25-28 with the enb series on and now that I've upgraded to win7 i get 15 standard.

I'm running:

OS : Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
Processor : AMD Turion™ X2 Ultra Dual-Core Mobile ZM-82
Ram : 4gigs
video card : ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650 Series 1Gig

yes ive got updated my video drivers, even tried beta win7 drivers, no change. Any help/advice would be great. If i don't figure it out soon im just gonna go back to vista. :(

happy new year btw. :D

The thing about Windows 7 is, is that it now has Compatibility issues. if all you want to do is play RE4, Your setup will run it fine on Vista. More than fine actually. Even RE5 should be playable.

i have Windows 7 64-bit, and Windows 7 32-bit and have had no issues whatsoever with either Resident Evil 4, or Biohazard 4.

you must be doing something wrong

make sure that you are using the latest drivers, from the manufacturer's site, not the ones made available through windows update.

also, install the latest DirectX package.

Did you do a clean install or upgrade vista? i got mine from hp and upgraded that might have caused some problems. :( and updated everything i could think of. directx/ video drivers/audio/bios/ pretty much everything from the hp website that pertained to my computer.

before someone suggests it yes i tried the compatibility options, tried under xp/vista and still the same.

Windows 7.
1 GHz 32-bit processor
1 GB of RAM
16 GB of available disk space

Windows XP
233 MHz Processor
64 MB RAM
1.9 GB of available disk space

Windows 7 does take more to Run. When I installed RE5 on XP It work 40-50 fps on Story and Mercenaries. On 7 it would drop below 30 fps sometimes mostly on Mercenaries. I never tryed RE4. I went back to XP after week mostly because I just think 7 is all flash. It did'nt work any better than XP. I'm just so use to XP. Also I hated Windows Live Mail I prefer Outlook Express.

Ive never had one problem with windows 7 or x unlike with that shite they all vista that even bill gates thinks is crap. And 7 is better with compatibility than vista, its ran everything for me from resi 4 to doom, or wolf 3D. Its down to your computer componants if you having problems, one of the biggest problems to slowing your pc down is HDD speed. 7 needs more RAM due to the GUI ect, but resi 4 should work a okay. Doesent even need compatibility mode.
