I have my desktop completely up and running and all my data back in full swing, but I can't get re4 to start up. I reinstalled the latest version of direct ex, completely reinstall re4, but it just refuses to start up. I keep getting an error message before the game even starts.

Did you overload your videocard or something? :huh:

First try restarting your computer.

If that doesn't work then uninstall any mods you downloaded recently.

If that doesn't work.. uninstall the game. And delete all that is left in the folder. (custom files [mods])

I had to do that 3 times already because of the problem your having.

I hope I haven't burnt out my old card, I mean over all I just play games with fairly low requirements on it. Hmm, well deleting everything isn't a problem, I back up ALL my data in separate folders.

No no no, thats not what i meant.

I meant.. Delete everything in the folder and DON'T copy your backup there, I meant you had to start from scratch and re-download all the mods.

There are only the original files the RE4 folder, NO MODS AT ALL! I have Direct X 9 completely up to date and installed.

I found out it's my sound though, I didn't notice that I have no sounds at all playing. So I have to get that working, apparently all the games I have installed refuse to start unless there is a working sound card.
