just got the demo of necrovision, a game ive been waiting for since i was in college, seriously this things been in production for like, 4 years, and to tell the truth, it shows it, but also seems quite badly made in some parts.
the demo shoves you right into a boss fight, wich many have done before, and this one has like, a dozen zombies lurching at you, letting you drop kick and dismember the shit out of them with hilarity. the gameplay seems pretty intuitive, it having the zoom button act as the second guns trigger for dual wielding (sadly it doesnt seem you can wield two bayonets, although you can throw them with great justice) having a melee and a kick button, melee just butting the with yoru gun and kick punting them across the room, great for getting zombies out of your face and into the crowd gathering in front of you. theres also a bullet timeesque thing that you build up by making combos and headshots on enemies, who fall apart gloriously.
graphics wise this game looks better than most big budget games, on par with crysis but filtered out its arse, kind of like penumbra where it cheated the graphics into looking good...but with the opposite effect of processor power. the level areas are quite small, being trenches, yet on 800 res my comp was having a siezure unless i was staring straight into a wall. i had to turn most of the settings off or to meduim before i got a decent framerate. that said this game does look fucking awesome on high, depth of field is on everything after ten feet and actually works great, the colt you start with is literally a shining example of the games capablities. but theres no reason this game should run so painfully on a comp that can max crysis.
also the sound is mono so thats a bit of an atmosphre killer, and also cheap considering how much effort they put into making the game look great. the character animations are hardly up to the standard of bog studio games and your character walks round giving duke nukem rip off quotes, otherwise known as they live and bruce campbell quotes lol.
this game would be really fun, but they need to optimise the shit out of the engine as so far i can imagine most computers will die on low spec to this unholy bastard.
i still reccomend though if you download or buy this, to put it on high spec first just to see it with all the weather and water effects before you stunt it horribly in the name of good gameplay...in all fairness though, cause i can barely see shit when moving with all the settings on i didnt see much difference, apart from the hdr and rain had stopped...oh and motion blur...very next gen. the living germans actually looked kind of crap compared to the zombies, animation and texturewise.
rant over.
overall, fun but very flawed in the spec department. still need to complete the demo as after i shot the boss up i was stuck on a timer to find bombs...sigh. timers suck too.
went at it again and fucking came lol, found some good settings that enabled me to see the hdri effects and found that its a pretty awesome game, although not really scary at all, its horror in the way return to castle wolfenstien was, and you can dual wield the shit out of all sorts, even those massive machine guns they used then....was bonerfying, even if i did empty them in about ten seconds lol. feels strange playing a game thats not afraid to give you a health bar nowadays too.
the game takes an insanely long time to load, even when reloading the same save, but as mission 2 was half an hour i have good hopes for this game now, since it works relatively well and they released an actual demo rather than farting it onto the market, i will probably buy this right out on monday.
screenshot? sounds interesting
heres teh gamespot gallery, some great images, but they tend to be a bit dark, the game has a massive gamma bar, unlike silent hill 5 where you can barely make it lighter or darker...which sucks when black is actually black on your monitor lol.

Thanks for making this post otherwise i would have miss this "gem in the rough".Really fun game to play but the game optimization suck balls and hard.I love when he hold his guns "Gangsta style".When that cave troll came out i thought for a moment that i was playing Dark Messiah
This game sounds pretty awesome, four years? damn...
you should try cryostasis as well, even if the gameplay isnt your type (kind of penumbra, puzzle game with fighting tacked on...but with a few guns as well.
you have to travel into peoples pasts to solve the puzzles, and its set on a nuclear icebreaker stuck in the arctic and full of evil monsters and zombies.
i dont know what the last game to revolutionize water effects were, but this game has raped it raw and kicked it down a bell tower, then dropped the bell on it (they should do that in more movies lol)
the water partcles bounce off, run down surfaces and everything, if water is going down steps it will create a small particle waterfall , or just trickle...a monster walks under it it will get wet...the best thing...it works on a 8800 card!
http://techreport.com/discussions.x/16084http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZfXIFFmB7Msadly theres no real demo, but the tech demo tells you how well it works anyway, plus acts as a great tool to get your settings right before you buy...or dont:P
