Well... I was watching this video. I was really anticipating this new system but... up until one point in the video... I was thinking AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME. When it came to the whole "digital game" shit... that's when I completely lost interest. Ya hear that? You CANNOT use your old PSP games in this. You have to buy them over the Playstation network and download them. So... basicly... you have to have an old psp and the new one IF you want the new one. They will still come out with the online and disk version of the games. But only the online download version works with "Go". How fucking retarded is that?

Anyway, here's the video:

It's mainly aimed at a young and more active audience(25 and lower) so why would your old married ass be interested in it?.(don't worry i will be joining you too soon by the way things are turning for me here lulz)

As far as I'm concerned the psp (i have a psp slim) is the current most advanced handled gaming platform,Add to it all the homebrew applications you can use with it (assuming you've installed a custom firmware) and you've got some pretty usefull machine.
And please kman52434 don't compare it to an iPod Touch, they haven't been build with the same function in mind. The PSP is a mainly a gaming platform(even though it got numerous multimedia functions) and the ipod touch is mainly a multimedia player(even though there's the possibility of playing graphically retarded and shitty games on it).

@dominic yeah it's cheaper and older than the mental age of half of the users registered here. With the amount of batteries you will have to pay for it,since it's an inefficient power hungry whore like Sega's GAME GEAR,i think it will make up for it's cheap price

VIVA LA PSP REVOLUTION!!!

Also fuck you Sony for wanting me to pay for digital version of games that i already own! fuck you very much!

mike360 - July 30, 2009 11:15 PM (GMT)
I'm not a teenager and I like PSPs, but this new PSP GO can go to hell. If I was considering buying a PSP, I'd get a PSP 2000 or 3000 and hack the firmware because it's possible to do that now with those newer models.

LeonPlisken - July 30, 2009 11:54 PM (GMT)
You know they already announced they have a trade in plan so you can get software versions of the games you already own?

What he said... really? Because that would change everything. That would make everything 10 times more kickass. Can you provide a source for that?

@5t1v

You're completely wrong. I've never seen a kid play a PSP. I've seen a 15 year old play one and I've seen a 28 year old play one. I'm right in the middle of the people who play it. Considering how I don't go to school anymore [graduated] and am not a little kid riding home from the schoolbus, that right there proves ya wrong.

Some 11 - 13 year old had his pants explode, because his PSP exploded, in School. So bleh. Kids do play them. You just never see them.

i get wat ur saying and since we are taking about gaming, im gonna have to side with u...to a point. psp's and ipods seem to battle it out for overall superiority, abut where one lacks, the other flourishes, and vice versa. psp is great for gaming and not the ipod touch so much (oh, i have a jailbroken itouch and custom firmware on psp so i am going passed the set bounderies of official media). but anways, yea ipod touches games are pretty fun to pass time but to a gamer its not good at all. i played that resident evil game for youch and its pretty kool but its really short and limited. i got more fun from the original resident evil wen i ported it to my psp. of course resident evil directors cut for the ps1 was short and limited also but that was the first game. try to take itouches BEST game and compare it to Tekken or God of war chains of olympus. yea, major fail

BUT looking at the multimedia aspect, itouch is crushing psp. all the variety of apps on official and unoffical (hacks needed to run) sites make the touch anything:cellphone, g.p.s, calculator, translator, p.d.a, and so much more make the ipod much more time consuming than psp. watching live tv while the professor was giving a boring lecture was worth killing my warranty.

so i kno wat ur saying satyr, but for a choice between psp and ipod touch, ill choose the ipod touch..... but i have both so i dont haveto

Ratede91,Like i said i don't understand why people compare them both so much.Probably because they are both handled devices.

What one excel at the other one sucks at it because they both have been designed with two distinct purposes. If they were both real gaming plateform i could understand the constant comparison but that's not the case. It's like comparing a xbox360 to an iphone. They both have gaming, communication and multimedia capabilities but they are light years away from each other.

I prefer a PSP over an Ipod touch because I'm a gamer ,i just like to enjoy REAL GAMES,those ridiculous casual games on the Ipod touch just don't cut it and that's what a psp has been made for ,i see the multimedia side of it as a plus not as a main feature.

You enjoy multimedia (music and videos ) and don't mind it's really poor and weak gaming capabilities the Ipod touch is the right choice for you

You enjoy "serious" gaming and want to be able to play wherever you are(in the metro or the bus so you don't have to look at some people ugly faces lol) but don't mind the limited multimedia support, the PSP is the right choice for you.I can play serious games ,listen to my preferred songs AND BRING PORN WITH ME WHENEVER I GO!!!DAMNIT! that's all that matter to me.

I dunno those two are like apples and oranges i so fail to see why people tend to compare them so much.

'I prefer a PSP over an Ipod touch because I'm a gamer'

i enjoy getting raped by serrated giant drillbits over the ipod anything because i like my money and the original concept.

that fire pic was so slow to load before i didnt bother looking properly, but isnt he doing the hammer dance?

OmegaGCRE4 - July 31, 2009 12:36 PM (GMT)
I've never been one for portables. I've had the first DS, the first PSP, the gameboy color and that stuff. The PSP and DS just sat there, I ended up selling them/trade in. I just like the good graphical consoles on a widescreen HD.

i nerver really thought of comparing them but since they were being compared i thought i would do so also, but i think the reason they are being compared is becuz they are portable and somewhat have the same functions. do u have a custom firmware on ur psp? the first time i put one on mine just really made me realize the bounderies i broke thru. then i tried everygame created for psp lol. the gaming aspect is the most important part to look at but then wen u played everygame and then u play everygame that was on ps1 u start to look at the other capabilities psp had...and there was so few. but the ipod is different. wen i jailbroke the ipod, i downloaded alot of games for that also, not nearly as kool, but just like with the psp, i turned to the other capabilites and found a universe of useful and entertaining apps.

i luv the psp, thats why im keeping it for soul caliber, but rite now ipod is whats grabbing my attention everywhere i go wen im bored

I'm pretty sure from what I've read that the average age is of the psp owner is like 14 or under so no I'm not as wrong as you seem to be convinced I am. But why are you taking this so personally? By that I mean averaging out the age so it matches yours? I see plenty of kids way younger than that on the subway here (in one of the world's largest cities) playing psp, and not many older people, they seem to have the nintendo ds or the ipod, or just playing with their iphones or blackberries.

And my old married ass has a modded psp slim, I used to use it for skype and I have a location free player in case I want to watch TV on it, but I never use any of the features anymore, including the games, they are just too boring. The psp is now a dust collector, I dont even think I've charged it up in about 6 months. I used to play INFECTED online w my wife and Dynasty Warriors and Aliens and Flow and I probably tried every game you can imagine.. My daughter's psp has the Gameboy emu so she can play pokemon on it, she loves it when the other kids on her schoolbus ask her "HOW CAN YOU PLAY POKEMON ON THE PSP???" She loves the special attention, I guess the apple didnt fall far from the tree. But now that's also headed towrds the same fate as mine since she got her ipod touch and she plays SIMS and listens to AQUA and JOAN JETT and KISS and watches TOKYO MEW MEW and she even has a program on there that she can make her own mixes on. She loves her Ipod touch.

But dont take my word for it, you can purchase a market study ==>HERE<=== that will confirm most of what I just told you.

PSP Go is a fail. Looks easier to break now with that sliding thing going on.
If anyone wants a PSP, go for the 3rd gen. If you want to use homebrew stuff try to get the 1st gen because everything when it comes to custom firmware is made for the 1st gen. There are only a couple of things 2nd gen cannot get yet. Eventually, that will be updated and fixed. Which is soon I think. Did anyone hear about using a PSP as a phone? Funny idea I know, but I must admit it will be useful in emergencies. ;)
