Notes/Description: Please read the readme before attempting to use!

Here's what the "Upper Kick Pack" features:

1. Change Leon's Crescent kick with a selection of other moves.

2. You can install the moves by running the corresponding .bat files, eg "Roundhouse Install.bat"

3. When you run each bat, the injector program will have to install the animation to over 70 files, so don't be alarmed if the installation takes a few minutes.

4. Due to the way in which the animations are contained, you can't customise the moves based on costume.

Moves:

Ada Backflip (Ada's break free move)
Batter - JJ's gun smash animation
Break Free (what Leon usually performs to break free from an enemy strangling him)
Chikayo Chagi (Wesker's heel crush)
Dive Forward (a diving roll performed by Leon)
Dropkick (the dropkick performed on Krauser later on in the game)
Fan Kick (Ada's awesome fan kick)
Hunk Soccer Kick (Hunk's "soccer kick")
Jump Kick (Leon's novistador kick)
Jump Smash (Leon jumping forward off a chandalier)
Military Roll (Leon rolling forward quickly)
Roundhouse (Leon's lower kick move)
Thrust Punch (Wesker's powerful punch)

Credits: St.Vampyre for the DAT Injector, tomas18 and jamesuminator for discovering the various animation files.

Enjoy!

Addendum: The installations will take a long time (up to a few minutes) because of the way the animations have to be installed. This is not a bug! Having a fast computer will probably help, but don't expect nanosecond install times!

Kaze - September 9, 2007 07:44 PM (GMT)
Ada's Break Free should be awesome on Leon.

Parser - September 9, 2007 07:48 PM (GMT)
It looks really cool, apart from the end stance!

By the way, this only replaces enemies that Leon faces now - the previous version would also replace the moves for Mercenaries and the Ada subgames.

joemoemino - September 10, 2007 04:40 AM (GMT)
Ohh, yeah!

Glad to see Leons Novistador kick on there!

I only just noticed it does that yesterday. Would reinstalling Leons original kick from the old pack fix it?

( oddly enough Hunk and Weskers moves didnt change)

Parser - September 10, 2007 03:14 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I'm sorry about that, at the time I didn't realise I was overwriting the other character animations. Probably the best thing to do would be to re-extract em.gca using the GCA tool and then re-install whatever animations you were using! If you wanted to narrow it down, you only need to extract the .dat files beginning with em* (in case you have some other mods installed that change the weapon animations).

IVIasoNī - September 10, 2007 03:52 PM (GMT)
The Novistador Kick freakinī ROCKS!!

Well i didnt mind it so much to be honest.
The irony of Krauser using an attack used on him was rather entertaining.
and Hunk and Wes stayed the same.

RopeDrink - September 11, 2007 12:40 PM (GMT)
Sadly doesn't work for me (I've downloaded and installed the Upper, Lower Kick packs and Explosion Cover packs into the RE4/Mods/AnimationPack/[Insert Folder Associated With Mod] format) and ran / installed the one I wanted using the .BAT file.

Either I've placed them in the wrong place, or it may have something to do with the fact that I've removed Leon's Original and RPD models with that of HUNK.

No idea what to do.

Anubis - September 11, 2007 12:52 PM (GMT)
if you got the new version just put the MOD fouder in to the exe fouder !!!

at least i did that and worked !!!

RopeDrink - September 11, 2007 01:00 PM (GMT)
I don't seem to have an EXE folder :)

Parser - September 11, 2007 01:01 PM (GMT)
Did you extract the em.dat and xfile.dat archives? You need to have done that for the animation injector to work!

RopeDrink - September 11, 2007 01:04 PM (GMT)
Well I went by the readme, unzipped the folders to where they were meant to go. The readme pretty much just says to be sure that they are extracted so that you have: C:\RE4Folder\Mods\AnimPacks\x,y,z etc

I'll take another look :>

Anubis - September 11, 2007 01:05 PM (GMT)
the fouder i said is the game fouder !! the one with the game.exe !!!

sorry if i didn't explain better !!!! english is not my main language !!!

RopeDrink - September 11, 2007 01:11 PM (GMT)
Ok to clear it up.

I downloaded three packs but let's assume I just downloaded, say, LowerKickPack (Because I have HUNK in the maingame and I'd like to get his Soccer Kick in there)...

So, what I've done is downloaded it and unzipped it so that I have:

C:\ResidentEvil4\Mods\AnimationPacks\LowerKickPack

I went into the LKPack and ran the BAT of HSoccerKick. Now, if it's a case of me having not downloaded something else and extracted some other thing, thats cool, or if I'm meant to place the folder elsewhere then great - Hopefully with a little guidance I can sort it - I've absolutely no modding experience so my knowledge of what these folders do and where I'm meant to put what is... minimal :)

Parser - September 11, 2007 01:32 PM (GMT)
Ok, basically, there are two main RE4 archives you need to extract: em.dat and xfile.dat - they're in the base RE4 directory.

If you've extracted them, you will have:

RE4/em
RE4/xfile

And both folders will contain many files/subfolders. If you don't have these folders, the injector tool needs the files within them, so all you have to do is grab the GCA-E tool (see http://z6.invisionfree.com/Resident_Evil_4...php?showtopic=4 ) and rename the .dat extensions to .gca, then extract away. Most of the people here have already extracted the archives, either because they're modders or have used other mods that require the files, hence why it might be confusing to note that it works for them and not yourself!

RopeDrink - September 11, 2007 01:40 PM (GMT)
My RE4 folder currently has:

em,
htm,
movie,
ogg,
xfile,
xscr

folders within it.

Inside the RE4\Em folder is just a pl0d.dat that was installed along with the Wesker S.T.A.R.S skin, the rest has been made through various other mods.

I assume I need to extract stuff into that folder then?

(Sorry for all the hassle and all this help is greatly appreciated)

Parser - September 11, 2007 03:02 PM (GMT)
Yes, that's what you need to do - backup your pl0d.dat, then extract the em.dat and xfile.dat archives - when it's finished, you'll have a plethora of files in both folders. You should then be able to run the batch files without any problems!

RopeDrink - September 11, 2007 03:57 PM (GMT)
I'll give it a shot, thank you :)
I just hope it doesn't conflict with the Leon replacement HUNK skin I have for the main game :)

keep up the fab work, peeps and thank you all for the advice.

RopeDrink - September 11, 2007 04:03 PM (GMT)
Just to confirm... Do I rename and extract all the .dats or just that of em.dat and xfile.dat?

Parser - September 11, 2007 04:09 PM (GMT)
If you're using the animation packs, just xfile and em, but if you want to get into modding or look at some of the other files, you might as well extract them all!

RopeDrink - September 11, 2007 05:02 PM (GMT)
Thanks :)

Well I renamed / Extracted the files using that tool, re-installed the packs to c:RE4\Mods\NameOfPack and tried the bat files and...

It can't find the files, so it says they're installed but during the BAT process you can see "File Not Found" flicking past so I assume I need to put the files in a different place - Curse this messing around >_<

Parser - September 11, 2007 05:22 PM (GMT)
Make sure you follow the path structure, so if you're installing the lower kick pack, it will be:

RE4/Mods/AnimationPacks/LowerKickPack/

And so on.

arata - September 20, 2007 07:27 AM (GMT)
Got the same problem as RopeDrink, I've got all folders in place, got the /em/ and /xfile/ folders. Everything should work, but I just get a ton of "file cannot be found".

Could it be because my RE isn't on C: ?

Anubis - September 29, 2007 03:34 PM (GMT)
i kinda miss the krauser's double kick !!! that one he do on mercenaries !!!

tomas18 - September 29, 2007 03:38 PM (GMT)
Untill we figure out how to switch attack data, we can't add Krauser's kicks or the Neck breaker.

Anubis - September 29, 2007 03:53 PM (GMT)
really ?? hummm o.k. then !!! thanks for the reply !!

santyloco - December 9, 2007 05:05 AM (GMT)
there isnt another way to install the animations (for example paste ada backflip.FLC something like that into Pl08) because i please the archive in the right place and i have extracted em and xfile folders (with the albert patch i found that folders)

tomas18 - December 9, 2007 05:20 AM (GMT)
It won't help because the game reads the dat files inside the em folder. It will NOT read sub-directories.

Nomiss - December 12, 2007 03:46 AM (GMT)
We need this hack for the PC version, it's pretty awesome. :o Move swap

Barlessi - May 25, 2008 04:41 PM (GMT)
Can i just ask if this happend to anyone?First day when i downloaded gca extractor it worked now(Alot has passed)it doesnt it saysNotice Fail to open file so i cant extract anymore of a dat files to folder. why? i so wanted savegame file. i tried on different things

Can someone tell me how to download the animation mod?

Is there another site for this kick pack?

brownie23 - April 12, 2009 10:05 AM (GMT)
Can you fix the broken links I am not able to download any of the packs that you released and I really do want to use them. :(

Starfall - April 30, 2009 04:24 PM (GMT)
When you change the animation does the enemies reaction also change? LIke, if you change Leons crescent kick to Albert's thrust punch, do the enemies get smashed back like the way they do when you use the thrust punch as Albert?
