New Next Gen Consoles, How Will they Fair?

So thre's news that the new line of consols are set for release around 2012-15

looking into this I now wonder. what would nxt gen look like. Honestly I dont think a major jump from xbox 360 to Xbox "XXX" wouldbe a wide as original xbox to 360. So i think companies should focus less on the graphics and more on realism. Its Annoying to still see clipping in games like re5 and such even tho they look so good, to me it kills the game. Now of course the new consoles will have more power so if developers focus less on gfx and more on clipping and what not, that wuld bring a new world to gaming. Now I see GTAIV tried to make their game more realistic with movements and allthat but wen u can walk at a 45 degree angle from the ground, thas not realistic. and the fact that they severly limited ammo capacity makes it less realistic than past Gta's.

so in conclusion, less gfx quality and more physics and motion capture and clipping fixes would make next gen games litterally futuristic

I'm psyched over a new Playstation console, even though the PS3 has only been out for a couple years. Once I bought my PS3, I never played my 360 again (with the exception of a little Ace Combat 6 here and there).

Honestly, I think some games should focus on certain aspects and others should focus on others. How much fun would Ratchet and Clank be with totally realistic physics and the like? I mean, come on. If you made it the slightest bit realistic, you'd have to change the entire game.

On the other hand, I'd pass out over a Modern Warfare 3, 4 or five that was true to realism. I don't think I'd play much else for a good three months if that came out. There is a game coming out sometime soon, the name always escapes me when I try to explain to friends, that is supposed to aim for 98% realism, in CoD4 fashion, and I'm going to buy that.

Over all, however, I'd like to see games like Fallout 3 in total MMO style on a console. I'm talking a New York sized playing field that people could scavenge metal and concrete to make buildings, then register them in to the server, allowing people to fast travel to your location. In other words, a far more advanced Eve online.

Networking technology should be advanced more to allow thousand player wars. I know MAG is going for 256 players and a totally built-from-scratch network, and I'm so excited for that. Once that comes out, I want someone to go for 512, then 1024, then just making one freaking huge battlezone similar to the environment established in Metal Gear Solid 4 with the PMC and Militia fighting in the first act, except there are no NPCs.


Man, I could rant forever on what I'd like to see in the next gen, but I'll stop.

the next gen consoles prices and differences.

playstation 4...fuck all, price over 9000
microsoft abomination, differences, more locust and spartans...that are shinier. price, far more reasonable, most likely over 300 though at first.
nintendo poo, casual gaming equals far more money, so it will probably run along the same lines, less mainstream control style with more arcadey games, graphics come second once more, price, something a hobo would afford.

i also predict that sega may make a console comeback within this next generation or the one after that (if the mayans are wrong...god i hope not). the dreamcast was far better technically than the ps2, their flaw was having very few shit adverts compared to the tv spam third place shit that sony were pumping out over a year before the ps2s release.

frankly, consoles have become more and more like pcs and i think that the next generation will be even moreso, the 360 and the ps3 both have hard drives, the ps3 installs, they both have online capabilities that are almost pc level. i think the next generation may run on true operating systems. so good luck playing on the abomination:P

The reason Sony consoles are so expensive: quality. 360 is a failure with it's 68% fail rate. (Their claim for only 16% is what is covered by warranty) The PS3 however, has only a 0.02%. Microsoft is just cheap and wanted to get out before everyone else.

I think the new x-box is going to be rushed again and have major failure problems again. Nothing Microsoft makes, including Windows, is really all that stable. Sony, however, is reliable and hardly fails. The PS4 will undoubtedly be pretty high priced, maybe even up to $700 here. I'd have no problem with paying that price, though, since Sony is reliable.

The Nintendo? They'll be the first to have VR games, but it will be a virtual carnival game or something 6-year-old centered.

my dad has a ps3 and a 360, hes had the ps3 for a year less and hes gone through 2 more, hes only red ringed once but the ps3 has suffered horrific laser breakings repeatedly, they just stop loading. thankfully the shop he got them is awesome about that shit and hes got new ones for free with a massive insurance policy.

also, i agree with microsoft being predominantly shit, but my computer has only crashed a few times in like, 4 years from windows problems on xp2. it has crashed a good few more times from games with memory leaks though or game freezes, but they are game problems. crysis unpatched crashed commonly at specific points due to memory leaks just eating your computer alive. the 1.1 patch makes the game almost perfect.
i have to say that i wont be changing to 7 until i have absolutely no choice whatsoever, i cant imagine many games are going to 7 exclusive like halo 3 did with vista and footbullet themselves.

and at least their not apple. imagine if they had the monopoly on gaming comps, youd have to buy a new comp for ten times more for each game, pay for updates and be held hostage to the evil fascist iempire lol.

I see a PS4 coming too... Next thing you know, the graphics are so real, it looks like there was no graphics to work on! IT WAS DONE BY A CAMERA WITH NO EDITTING! If that makes any sense.

well considering that the ps3 was weaker than the 360 (just like the dc was stronger, albeit with less storage on a disk, but sony press spam that its a god machine that just happens to have lower settings on every single multiplatform game and less colours lol) id guess that the photoconsole would be windows branded.
sony have a habit of overhyping and entheusiastically bulshitting their way to releases of games and consoles.

Did you guys ever see this?It's revolutionary and could seriously change pc and even console gaming.That micro console can fit in your pocket .Interesting concept but it's almost too good to be true.

considering the size of the gamecubes disks i can imagine if you can compress the stuff into a lapton as flat as they do in newer models, modifying the idea would leave you with quite a tiny console.

then again the pad might be car sized

Ps3's online is a gimmick tho, just like psp (not multiplayer, just online) and xbox 360's community is ALOT better, but thats probably just because u have to pay for XBL and on next gen consols...wow will there be so much improvment

if we have nintendo- think out of the box,has great game (yes theres a SHITLOAD of shity games on the wii but.... meh. theres a couple goodgames) microsoft- RICHRICHRICH! high quilty games,console will repair your console unlike sony and nintendo, furthermore imgaine one gaming company, no more shit on things like which is better in my opinion PS3 is great! but it has no good games apart from MGS LBP KZ2 (FYI its grey so its not that good and X D took 50-60mil to make) thats there oly good stand alone game. and people also say LOL IT HAS FREE INTERNET GAMING!!! my response- aids is free but it dosnt meen its good. plus if you cant fork out 79bucks AU for a year get it for chistmas,birthday!

Honestly, considering how bad Sony's been doing I think they'll either stick with the PS3 in the next generation or drop out of the big 3. Honestly, though, I'm sick and tired of realism and pretty graphics, mainly because they get in the way of actually playing the game part of the fucking game. I think we've finally reached the point where graphics aren't going to get much better, and companies should really focus on other things, such as gameplay and story. These things are fine, so long as they aren't the main focus. (Valve seems to live by this policy quite well.)

whether the colours are 'beautiful' doesnt really matter in a war between whats technically more advanced ad cheaper at the same time. the reason the 360 is prone to red ringing is that its so full of stuff that it overheats and the motherboard warps, if it was in a larger, less compressed case it probably wouldnt happen at all...they didnt test it long enough due to a rush to beat sony out onto the shelves and hog the fanbase.

in each of these you can see that the playstation 3 has brighter visuals that wash out faded textures, a far smaller level of detail (fallout 3 is the most obvious here), far less lighting effects (the reason for the lighter, paler visuals) and is generally not really worth the extra 300 that many people payed, regardless of any apparent extra reliability or altering your tv to make it look slightly better lol.

i am not a fanboy, the last console i ever got was a dc. yes i do hate sony, due to their hammering of that console, but i think that was mostly segas own fault for having no sales skill at all and only one gross advert of a sweaty old bald man shaving people that somehow is supposed to make their console desirable. this is about quality and price only for me and i do find it laughable when people defend only one console and hate exclusives to other consoles to the core. i do wish that the sony exclusive fatal frame and siren games were on pc too though. i have never played a wii and have only seen one in action personally once and it disgusted me, no due to the actual console, but the game farcry vengance, which used gc footage on the back of the box when in fact it looked like it was on a jaguar or something.
