They have created a small group of biomachines known as the Evas, they are piloted by young kids to attack the angels.

Yes that's what Evangelion is about but you forget one important thing. It not only deals with the age old problem of "MY GOD THERE IS A GIANT EVIL THINGY ON THE DOORSTEP THREATENING MANKIND! WE MUST KILL IT" which NGE does extremly well with some good twists.

But if you are looking for an anime that really gets under the charecters skins and to find out about who they really are then this is for you. It examines human kind showing us warts and all and basically a wide range of negative mental/emotional states. It shows human weakness at it's best if you ask me.

hehe well you got to remember when i wrote this i hadnt seen many episodes and didnt really think of that at the time. Plus i was lazy and doing a quick description.

Its one of those anime's thats clased as "A god of anime"
