Title: bipolar.
Description: will it ever go away?

Ugh I had a mental health appointment today, and they diagnosed me with being 'bipolar'. My mom has suspected this for a long time because I can be so miserably depressed when everything is going great. They gave me all these pills to take and I refused to take them, because honestly I dont think I need meds to get better. I just need to 'get over it'. So yeah I need some advice, do you think the only way to deal with my depression is with meds, and also does being bipolar ever go away?

my opninion is that meds work for some things but isn't really needed for other things. For Bipolar I would probably say meds would help you a bit. Ive never been bipolar but i went to school with a girl who was and now she is fine

Meds sometimes work, sometimes don't. I was diagnosed with clinical depression and am very likely bipolar. I was put in a mental health clinic for a week and put on Welbutrin and it somewhat helped. I still get depressed, but not as bad/often as I used to, and it doesn't seem to last as long.

HOWEVER, I have a really good friend of mine who is also depressed and likely bipolar, and she's been on many different meds, I'm not sure of exact names, and she seems to have got a bit better, but still is pretty bad; she says they haven't helped her much.

So it really seems to vary from case to case, as one might expect. heh.

My mother is bipolar and she takes pills. They dont help her they just take away her emotions. Your suppose to have emotions. Its the way of life. The pills are suppose to stop the mood swings but you still think about it.

your doctors may be wrong in diagnosis, but to be honest, if you have RANDOM mood swings (really happy one moment and 10 minutes later utterly depressed) then you probably are bipolar.

One of my best friends is bi polar and he was on meds for a long time, which controlled his mood swings to a point. However, he decided that he didnt want to be led by pills his whole life and stopped taking them

bad idea, he sank into serious depression and almost died of alcohol poisoning...he got addicted to various drugs, went to rehab several times, and now hes not only bi polar but hes suffering from addiction which already depresses you as it is

be careful. bi polar behavior does not go away and never will youll never just "Get over it" you need to take pills to regularize your lifestyle and to help give your emotions some balance.

good luck with everything
