Title: Story of Prelude EXE
Description: A story I've been working on
WhisperEXE - November 11, 2007 03:39 AM (GMT)
(If you don't like my time string, then whatever... Rockman EXE takes place in the 200X's, so assuming the series starts at the year 2000, my time string is correct.)

Forte Went berserk a few days ago. He destroyed all of our systems, and no matter how hard our security force tried, we failed every time at containing him. He's somewhere in the internet now. We've sent a force of navis to find him, but no luck yet.
I feel like it's my fault. I told him he was the best navi on the planet, but maybe I shouldn't have. If I hadn't said that, maybe he wouldn't have tried so hard... And maybe he wouldn't have been blamed for all of this...

Log 1.2477 10/4/1982
They found him today. They didn't bring him back, though. He killed one of them. Then he ate him. The navis who came back said that he grew stronger after eating the dead navi... I said I couldn't believe it, but I really could. I gave him that ability... It was an accident at first, but I said "What harm could it do?" Stupid me... Get Ability.ini.... Why did I put it in him?

Log 1.2478 10/5/1982
I've made up my mind now. I'm going to make a new navi. It's going to be the prelude for all things to come! Tomorrow, I'm going to start on project "Independent Net Navi v2.0"! Hmm... Prelude sounds like it could fit.

Log 1.2479 10/7/1982
I have been at work for a whole twenty-four hours. The project is going well. I've finished the base .MDI file and I'm beginning on the outer shell. I think this one is also going to be a male (a little younger looking than Forte, though). After that, I'm going to work on muscle capabilities.

Log 1.2480 10/10/1982
The dummy is finished. Through remote control, everything works fine. I have to make his A.I. programs and link everything together. It will take a while, but that's fine.

Log 1.2481 10/14/1982
His eyes opened today. Unfortunately, I had to activate the sleep sequence since I didn't want him moving around while being worked on. It's odd. His eyes were blue, but I installed brown eyes into him... Oh well, strange eye color isn't the end of the world.

Log 1.2482 10/15/1982
He's done! Prelude.EXE is now a fully operational independant NetNavi. I put Get Ability.ini in him on purpose this time. I plan on having him delete Forte when he gets to be more mature. I just hope he doesn't end up the same way...

Crap! Forte struck the network! I have to hurry typing this before he destroys my files. I've stored Prelude in a secure directory that I don't think even a cyberbomb (or even a real bomb, since I encased it in magno metal) could destroy. S**t! He's here. Whoever's reading this, please find Prelude and keep him safe. The combination key for the magno metal case is 6,15,18,20,5.

Chapter 1
==
The year was 2003. A year after the Doctor Wily almost destroyed the world with the help of the Dennoujuu. It was Friday. 2:45 PM.
The boy was short. He had shaggy dark blue hair and eyes of the same color. He wore a jacket also of that shade of blue and dark violet cargo pants. The boy's name was Yamishin. He was walking in the junkyard on his way home from school. Looking around at the piles of useless junk, he tripped on something. His face landed in a mound of dirt.
"Uh--! Dammit!" He got up and spit dirt out of his mouth. "P-touh! Stupid thingie! You made me trip!" Yamishin looked back at the object he tripped on. It was a metal box. "Hm?" Yamishin pushed himself onto his feet and picked up the box and knocked on it with his fist a few times. "It sounds hollow. I wonder what's inside." Looking at the sky, his shadow, and then his PET, he confirmed he would be home late if he didn't get a move on, so he put the box in his backpack and ran home.
"Ugh, this box is heavy for how small it is." It was difficult for Yamishin to run, but he ran anyway. When he got home, Yamishin went upstairs to his room and placed the box on his desk. Then he noticed there was a hatch with a combination lock on one side of the box. He tried everything to open it. Every number he could think of. It was confirmed that it took more than three numbers to open it.
Looking for clues on what the number could be, Yamishin picked the box up and looked all over it for some snippet of information. Then he noticed very faint and sloppy writing on the bottom (considering the side with the lock and hatch is the front). It read "ForTe".
"Forte, huh..." Yamishin had an epiffony. "F is the sixth letter of the alphabet, so six, then O is the fifteenth... fifteen, eightteen, twenty... then five... and..!" The lock clicked open. Yamishin opened the hatch and looked inside. "Huh? It's an old computer hard drive!"
"Yamishin!" His mother yelled at him as she opened his bedroom door. Yamishin slammed the door of the box closed and looked at her nervously.
"Uhh--umm... H-hi, mom." Yamishin stuttered as if he had just learned how to speak.
"Yamishin, you know the rules of this house. Homework and chores first, hobbies second."
"Oh. Okay. I'll get those done."
Yamishin was both annoyed and relieved at the same time. He wanted to get that hard drive hooked up to his machine, but at the same time, he was glad his mother didn't see it. Yamishin did the little homework he had and did his chores. He took out the trash and cleaned his room.
After all of that was done, Yamishin closed his bedroom door and hooked up the hard drive to his computer. The setting was at "slave". The computer started. "Logged in as: Yamishin" the screen said. It switched to the desktop soon after. Yamishin accessed the newly installed hard drive and saw something interesting. It was a CompSpace only accessible by a navi. An OS Explorer software wasn't authorized.
Yamishin notified his generic navi. "Hey, dude."
"Yeah, 'Yi-Shin'?"
"I need you to plug into my computer. There's a strange folder there."
"Alright."
"Cool. Plug-in!"
In the computer, the generic green and yellow navi made its way to the strange location. The entrance had a door that required a buster to open. No problem there. Inside the area, there was something incredible. The floor was covered entirely with algorithms and data flows. In the back of the area there was a capsule. It was glass-like with metallic caps. It stood upright as a cylinder. The main glassy part was so bright that the navi couldn't see through it. Next to the capsule there was a control panel.
"'Yi-Shin,' Do you want me to open this?"
"Yeah, but get ready for some busting if a virus comes out!"
"Okay. Battle routine set..."
The navi pressed the button on the control panel that opened the capsule. The glass split in half at the equator and the two halves retracted into the metal caps. An overwhelming light poured out of the gap. Yamishin had to squint his eyes because it even came through the screen.
After the light disapated, Yamishin's navi looked at the open capsule. There was a vertical bed on which was attached a navi. It looked similar to the famous Rockman... But it had many differences. It had yellow/gold armor and helmet, the jumpsuit was blueish grey, it had beige pants that were tucked into the boot armor, and it wore a scarf of the same color. The helmet was also different in that the yellow stripes that would be on Rockman's helmet were green and there was a horn coming out of the back of it. The navi's eyes were closed and purple facepaint like Forte's bordered his face. The navisymbol on his chest was green. It had two black semicircles on the left and right respectively and a black line going down the middle.
"Y--Yamishin!" said Yamishin's generic navi. "Do you see what I see?! It's a navi!"
"Y--Yeah.. I see it! Should I upload him to my PET?"
"Sure. From his color scheme, I wouldn't say he's a bad navi."
"Mm-kay. Plug out. I'll upload him."
After the upload was complete, Yamishin had had enough of the day...
"Yo, homes... I'm going to bed. This whole thing is wayyyy strange. I would NEVER expect to find a perfectly good, almost HOLY navi lying in the junkyard. G'Night, dude..."
"Good night, Yamishin."
And Yamishin slept... He shouldn't have.

Win XP was released in 2001, so in 2000 you had older system (Win 98, Win 95 or Win 3.11).
MegaBassFalzar - November 11, 2007 02:38 PM (GMT)
DUN DUN DUN DUUUUN.
DRAMATIC ENDING ACCOMPLISHED.
Not bad. In fact, I like it. A bit too overdone, though.
WhisperEXE - November 11, 2007 06:35 PM (GMT)
@Nemo: I have no idea what you just said. -.-
@MBF: Thanks!

In 2000 Windows XP wasn't exist.
WhisperEXE - November 11, 2007 08:13 PM (GMT)
Well, in Rockman EXE, it's wayyyy strange, I mean it's set in the early 2000's and they have perfect AI's, so it's kinda like everything's 25 years ahead, I dunno...
MegaBassFalzar - November 11, 2007 09:34 PM (GMT)
I hope it's not Vista. If he had Vista, your entire story would make no sense at all.
WhisperEXE - November 12, 2007 12:32 AM (GMT)
Well, let's just say he's using Windos XP even though it wouldn't be invented until 19 years after the logs... ;)
Oh, yeah. Here's this:

Chapter 2
==
Yamishin woke Saturday morning at 8:27. He took the PET off of the bedside table and turned the screen on to greet his Navi. He was gone.
In the CyberWorld of the PET, the new navi was bent over on his knees in a crater holding pieces of Yamishin's navi. The entire CompSpace was ruined. Algorightms were incomplete, data streams were broken and cracked, and consoles were distorted and bent. There were no Mr. Progs. All dead except the new navi.
"Huh?! What the hell happened?! Who attacked the PET?!" Yamishin was in shock.
"...I--I--I'm... S--sorry... I--I couldn't s--s--stop it..." The new navi's face was streaming with tears.
"Tell me! Who did this?!"
"It..." He paused for a long time. "It was me. I'm sorry."
"How could you do that?!"
"I... I woke up late at night... Cyberworld looks so different now. I thought I was going to be deleted just like they tried to do to Forte... Cossack... Where's Cossack..? Where's Cossack?!?!" The navi began looking around the hologram of the real world for Cossack.
"I'm... I'm sorry, I don't know what you're talking about."
"TELL ME! WHERE'S COSSACK?!?!?!?!!" He was looking frantically now.
"I--I don't know who that is." Yamishin was getting a little scared.
"COSSACK!! COSSACK!!! COSSACK!!!!! GRRAAAARRRRR!!!!!!!!!" The navi screamed and held his head. In anger, he slammed his fist into the ground and a large explosion of light ensued. It was so noisy that Yamishin's mother came into the room to see what was going on.
"Yamishin, is that a video game or a crazy netbattle going on in your PET?"
"Honestly, Mom, I don't know."
The navi grew crazier and crazier as he punched the ground numerous times and inbetween explosions shot beams of light into the air. "No... No... NO!! COSSACK!! WHERE ARE YOU?!" The entire PET screen was filled with light and debris. Both Yamishin and his mother were squinting and blocking the light with their arms. "GRAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!" The navi got into a super-saiyajin-esque pose and let out an extreme amount of light from his navisymbol as he screamed. It lasted about seven seconds. Yamishin and his mother had to close their eyes completely.
When it was over, the navi was on the ground asleep with a tear still forming in his eye.
A long pause ensued. They sat staring at the screen of the PET.
Yamishin's mother was the first to break the silence: "That thing is dangerous! And you have to come eat breakfast."
"Okay. Lemme put the navi in my antivirus's storage chest in case he wakes up..."
Yamishin stored the navi in the virus chest and went down to the kitchen to eat. Cold cereal with milk. Same as always. His mom didn't like to cook. She burnt everything.
"I can't beleive that navi deleted mine by ACCIDENT..." Yamishin held back a tear.
"Didn't you make a backup?" his mother replied.
"No. I was always so confident he'd never get deleted. He had thousands of HP."
"Maybe you can get a new one."
"Maybe..."
After eating, Yamishin went up to his room to check on the navi. It was awake, walking around the virus chest's CompSpace and looking at the surroundings. When Yamishin leaned up on his desk and looked at the screen, the navi asked him,"What's the date today?"
"It's the twelfth of October, year 2003."
"Over twenty years... I've been asleep for twenty one years."
"What? That means you were one of the first NetNavis!"
"Yeah, I was the second independant NetNavi."
"What made you get sealed up in that capsule?"
"I don't know... I just remember that before my memory went blank, Cossack said 'Find me'."
"Wait a minute. Wait a minute... You're talking about DOCTOR Cossack? THE Doctor Cossack?! Did he create you?"
"Yes."
"Dude, you were created by a GENIUS!"
"My name isn't 'Dude'. It's Prelude."
"Oh, sorry, uhh, Prelude. I forgot to ask for your name."
"It's not a big problem... I'm sorry I deleted your navi. I'll do anything to make up for it."
"Why don't you be my navi?"
"Okay. Upload me to your PET. I promise I won't go crazy again."
"Hahah... *ehem* Ok, get in the warp circle right there."
Prelude walked into the warp circle that appeared in front of him and it shot him through cyberspace into Yamishin's PET. Things were about to get awesome.
MegaBassFalzar - November 12, 2007 03:27 AM (GMT)
THAT IS AN EPIC QUOTE. THAT'S GOING IN MY SIG.
WhisperEXE - November 12, 2007 09:04 PM (GMT)
Hahah ^^ I would never have expected somebody to think that was epic. =P
Mgamerz - November 14, 2007 10:49 PM (GMT)
Back then, all they had was DOS. They didn't even have navis. Maybe you should leave the X on it.
Edit: LOL, they don't have navis now either. But they sure wouldn't when there wasn't even PC's around.
WhisperEXE - November 15, 2007 12:14 AM (GMT)
Well, if you take a look at EXE3 and 5, they say/imply that Tadashi and Wily were working together at around the same time Forte was created, which, if you take data from the anime that says Forte is chronologically 20 years old, means that...
well, it just doesn't make any sense to me either, but still... it doesn't really matter >.>
MegaBassFalzar - November 15, 2007 12:34 AM (GMT)
Actually, Whisper's storyline makes perfect sense. The Alpha incident happened when Yuichiro was young, and as we know, he's at least 29. Unless he got Lan's mom pregnant before he was 18, but we shan't go into that now.
Mgamerz - November 15, 2007 12:57 AM (GMT)
Man, Ultima would totally want you to go into that <_<
We don't even have the tech to build a AI that would function like a human, and if we do, it's not commercially available.
It's weird, Megaman games actually are our future;
Either we take the robot path, of MMZ, and get robots alongside humans;
or
the net path, where we control things via the web(unlikely)
MegaBassFalzar - November 15, 2007 01:07 AM (GMT)
Their universe is not ours; theirs is centuries ahead of ours. Though the NetNavi path would be badass, it's not likely.
Mgamerz - November 15, 2007 10:44 PM (GMT)
yeah, but i think we will get somewhere into the REPLOID category, but they won't be called reploids(That'd be kickass), and they won't get their own decisions until at least 2 generations past ours.
