Well, it's that time again, people! The new Hacked Battle Contest for 4/18/08 - 5/03/08 has begun.

Let me go over some round rules.

Just like last time, you must upload your video when the contest time is over.
You are allowed to use a fanmade patch.
You cannot state your motive for that battle using WMM. Really, the only text you add is a notice saying that this will be for the contest. No more.


Now here is what is expected from you, as the contributor.

You will create a challenge for yourself using the L Message hack tutorial to state your purpose in battle. There are several ways to do this, so be creative.

-Hacked Battle Tutorial (for starters)

-Direct Enemy Modifying(in case you want to change HP values or attacks)
As I mentioned in the video, the cheats to accomplish that will be posted here.

For the Time Limit, try these cheats:

The cheats marked with an * are cheats you must use if you plan on doing this. I'll answer some questions people may have about these.

Net Battle Style cheat has the value for Faltzer only. Normally, you can play in Net Battle Mode, but you can run away.

For 3-Turn Match, the first value of the cheat might vary, so plug in the address into the memory viewer to find the exact value the cheat might be looking for.

The values for Custom Gauge speed can be whatever you want. The value I used in the video was C0, which is too fast. Plug in the address into the memory viewer and you can pick the value that seems decent to you. Just remember that you must balance your chip time and buster time.

The rest are self-explanatory. The Custom Screen must auto-open, or there is no point to it. And if you don't make it in time, you get deleted, simple as that.


You can also do a challenge where you have to defeat the first enemy, and the rest are just taking up space. The point of having more enemies is that they can't die, so make their HP really high.

Use the ones that apply. 9999 HP for the "bodyguards" is recommended for extra challenge. Obviously, use the cheats that apply.

Hopefully that's enough to get you guys started. This might take more time than you're used to, but remember, the harder it is to make, the better it is.

No question. Just saying this is gonna be fun! ;) But how do you record your battle? I've been hacking for half a year and still don't know how to do that.

That's why I put the basic battle hacking guide. It covers everything you need to know.

I think I will join this contest this time. We have to upload videos till May the 5th, right? So I'll think about something. n your demonstration you got dleted but won. That's not the way we shall choose, right?

Edit: 3 turn battle code doesn't work for me.

Well in the demonstration, I said you must cut that part, so you must win so it will never happen. See, I thought ahead instead of having people questions, "What happens if the time runs out?"

The 3-turn battle code must be searching for the wrong value. Check the address of that cheat in the memory viewer to correct the last half of the value. Or it could be that you don't have Net Battle Mode on. I guess I must find working values for all versions if Faltzer isn't the only version being used.

I'm using Falzer. So I will search for the values in the mem. viewer than.

Now it will be more like those Slashman "shadow clones" I demonstrated in one of my previous videos. Only the main target will show HP.

Nah, just be creative. The requirement is that you must have a creative motive behind the battle, like a reason why you do that. It can't just be "beat the enemy" and must utilize the hacking of the running away message.

Either one will be fine. Just as long as people don't get any last minute ideas.

(Hopefully, it hasn't been posted but...)

Also, does anbody know the address to change the mugshots, buster shots, in the Gregar version. And I do need the 3 turn battle address for the Gregar version.

can we make a small story before the fight ?? ( like most bosses in the game like a small cutscene)

last question can we change megaman's mugshot or does it have to be megaman's

Of course you can if you are capable of doing that. This is the purpose of the contest.
You can also change Megaman's mugshot. Everything in that tutorial is allowed.

are sprite made acceptable?? ( made with photoshop by making backgrounds and sprites like the videos thesworduser makes while making his series)

Though fate has predestined that I have a snowball's chance in a volcano of winning, I'm gonna enter.

I'm still thinking about that. It's close enough to the game that everyone is capable of doing, but it's still fake. I will allow it if the message in battle still holds significance.

These 2 don't work to me

All the numbers between 00-0f make the custom fill up around 20+ secs and A0-FF make it fill it in 2 secs

I've concluded with these solutions.

One battle for me had the required value at 0300. Please use the cheat in tags. If it still does not work, take its address, 02034886, and put it in the memory viewer. Set it to 16-bit and see which value is stated on the top left. This, with a 03 is what you are looking for since the other value is a little more dynamic.

My mistake. I accidentally placed a B instead of an A at the end of the first line. This cheat should work now. If not, check because it might change.

Default is 20. If you want to have more time, 10 and 05 are some slow speeds that should be reasonable. 30 and 4A may be too fast, so it's your choice.

Neither 3-turn Battle codes work for me, but it's different for me because I'm using Sproutman.

Ah, your cheat will have to have 11 at the end. See the 0511. This means you were on the 5th turn. Make the few changes and it will be okay.

Oh, and you are allowed to use any music. Better hurry up because time is running out!

i HAVE MANY QUESTIONS. HOW TO CHANGE MM MEGABUSTER to bass attacks? And how can i use translhextion?
