Title: Reporting Cell Phone Harassment
Exceeding Light - May 23, 2008 02:13 AM (GMT)
Any idea what the laws are about cell harassment in Ohio? I've been getting a bunch of anonymous calls where a GUY has said on the phone 'Evan I Love You'. The comma is inentionally missing. The guy then blows on the phone.
I consider this harassment, especially because it has happened numerous times.
If anyone knows about the laws, please tell me, my phone vibrated during school and I nearly got busted. **** loud vibrators...

That's against the law man. It's harrassment like you said but it's also considered Sexual Harrassment.

I'm sure the police department can do something about that. Try calling them.

And also most cell phones have a record button on them and you could record the conversation as proof.[box=Hidden Insult]People like that make me sick.[/box]

I did a bit of research. It's a misdemeanor in ohio for the first offense. After that, it's a felony.

Also, I may not've recorded the conversations, but I have one message on my voicemail of him saying 'Evan I love you' and one of him simply blowing on it.
Thanks all, I plan to contact the police within a couple of days.

well if that person keeps phoning you and stuff and keeps saying the same thing then don't wait a few days go to the police station . Go instantly!! because he knows you and mostly know who you are and things like that so that's why they do that

I think you should report to the police, too.
Also, some cellphones have options to automatically reject incoming calls from numbers you choose, and some other cellphones give the option to not even vibrate when certain number calls. That may be useful if that guy calls you from the same number.
Bassxx - May 24, 2008 06:21 PM (GMT)
Do you not have Caller I.D?(It would be useful unless he's a privat caller.
deemo - May 24, 2008 08:45 PM (GMT)
the guys probably using the old *68 attachment to make it a private call, or perhaps calling through his computer or for all we know, someone else's phone or a payphone.
Best thing to do is to get the police.

If you can, save all the numbers from the guy was calling, even if there were different numbers. Then show them to the police, and maybe they can determine from where is that guy, or something like that.
Exceeding Light - May 24, 2008 11:02 PM (GMT)
Yep, the guy's using *68 or whatever it is.
StarForce - May 25, 2008 12:52 AM (GMT)
If you can't get the number, save the exact date and time when some of the calls were, police and phone company can later investigate the calls made that day at that hour.

I've stopped answering so that I get records and voicemail
Also, I got two more people calling, but they're so stupid, they gave me their numbers xD
deemo - May 28, 2008 02:49 AM (GMT)
All you need is a recording, and you can get him booked for Sexual Harrassment
