Because author of it forgot about Copy X, i voted for X.

I figured X would be winning but I chose the classic one. Without that one we wouldn't even see these other evolution of megamans,

Who is your favorite version of Mega Man?

The original NES Blue Bomber ---------------- 37.01%
X, from the later games ---------------------- 43.09%
Mega Man Volnutt, from Legends ------------ 5.82%
MegaMan.exe, from Battle Network ---------- 10.64%
Vent/Aile, from ZX ----------------------------- 1.75%
Geo Stelar, from Star Force ------------------- 1.7%

Well it's because most of the people on Gamefaqs are old enough to have played the original and X games.

Actularry the ZX and Starforce series only has a few sequals in the US and im probably guessing most people from the fourms are from the US so they weren't really able to play any other games in the series. Also be aware that the Original Megaman has 9 games in the US and the Megaman X has 8 games in the US. That is also a big factor.
