Title: Is it possible???

LadyTFL - November 19, 2008 08:17 PM (GMT)
Is it possible to make any money withOUT joining a company? I swear, I've been at this (not necessarily religiously) but for quite a while, and every time I start to accumulate a little cash, my POS truck has like 3 breakdowns on one route, or something else.

I'm looking for preferred loads, etc, but getting no where. I've yet to break $1,000, and whenever I do, something happens (like 3 breakdowns) to knock me back down.

Am I doing something wrong? I just wanna stay independent!

Well to start with you need to run hot routes....if you go Here you will see some routes will have red stars beside them...you need to see which is the best route based on...

How far, and how much bonus (red star means bonus route)..

Like right now Jville to New Orleans hauling clothing is ur best bet...but that will change tonight at midnight (game time). That is the first thing.

Secondly try not to be late for routes and make sure you never let your FP stay at 0 for long.

Third...yes you can do it if you want...but you need to run routes that make money and get of your current truck ASAP!

Yes it is possible to run solo and make it work. To found out if others have made it as solo drivers, check out the the top rated drivers in the drivers menu, then go to game statistics. You will found many drivers who have been driving a while making it just fine without being a member of a company.
All I can say is if your not sure or your determined to go it alone, then spend some time or just give yourself some time and check out other possible opportunities available to you.

I believe it is possible to make it solo, but I would sure have an advantage after learning the game with a company. A good company is full of people who can give you specific advice for your current situation, until you get really good. Perhaps someday I will reset, and try it solo. But not today!

Contract runs can pay amazingly well compared to standard bonus routes.
Even company terminal bonuses add 10% to a standard bonus route.

Ronmcd was #2 driver for nearly a year as a solo driver until he formed his own company but he is still #4. Just run bonus cargo that is under 1600 miles or even non-bonus cargo and you will see your profit and rating increase.

You must mean under 1,500 miles, as DR stops rising after 1,500 miles. :)

my brother plays and has never been with a company and had no trouble making money.

The DR caps at .5 per route, which is acheived around 1667 miles. But if they are looking for money, they should stick to shorter routes yet. The best hot routes are typically under 500 miles.

Oh. I thought 1,500 miles was when DR stopped going up. Thanks for the lesson :)

I have been solo since day one and have got a new 2009 truck and about 125,000 in cash with no problem ...you need to get into a better truck a fast as you can and repeat the process until you can do 85 mph which is the fastest you can go w/o a ticket as long as the speed limit is 80...its really hard when you first start but it will get better :explosion:

run 300 to 400 mile hot routes and buy fuel as cheaply as possible.
you may want to consider taking out some loans to get you into a better truck sooner.it's working for me ;)

One has to run LEAN, it's not as easy as it looks,
and for the 13,964th time it is not a game.

Drow - November 26, 2008 12:41 AM (GMT)
I'm doing alright atm,and I only just joined a company. if you can get a semi reasonable truck to start with, then get some cash behind you to get a better one, you should be all set. Then again, that said, I had the opportunity to start out with a half decent truck over here in Australia. Also, to help save money, get a fuel filter on your current truck to increase your mileage some, and save a bit on fuel.
