Title: Random annoyances.

Urziel - November 24, 2008 12:14 PM (GMT)
Has anyone noticed recently that many of the best cargoes have always appeared within D/H range of each other? and people wonder why it takes new players forever to make money. The best routes invalidate themselves.

Then of course there is the proc a random mechanical failure TWO TURNS IN A @#$%ING ROW! Now I've had to waste 150 bucks and two fatigue points when I could have delivered on time. These two issues really make me wonder if it is even possible to make any money in this game. I've been busting my hump for 11 days and all I have to show for it is 5k and a truck that's falling apart from all the "random" mechanical failures.

Don't you just love being a new person in the game...I promise you will make it. But if you are worried about cargo not having supply than I recommend you go to North America, where Gems are the only cargo w/o a supply.

North America is poor this route change. Only 1 trip @40k over $1PPM without company bonuses. Luckily we won a contract last night so we're ok but anyone who didn't will have a bit of a lean time.

yea but he was complaining about cities not having routes so I told him about NA.

Urziel - November 24, 2008 05:10 PM (GMT)
I was referring to NA when I made the statement. it's happened several times that the highest rate route is a deadhead run (Corpus Christi- Houston) KC-STL to name a few. It's aggravating to say the least and now the suppliers for cargo are whacked so I can't even contribute to the contract runs my company has.

the highest rate route is a deadhead run

Then it's not the highest rate, is it?

I know when I run the Best Route formulas for my company, we think in terms of average $/mile over a round trip. So a $1.75 great route would balance with a $0.75 return trip to make $1.25/mile. Using this model, it is rare for a North American round-trip to do much better than $1.10 (except for Nuclear Waste, of course), but the EU frequently sees rounds in the $1.20-$1.30s. We haven't see n enough of Australia to decide on it yet, but wth its $100 city bonuses for all cities, it will likely yield fairly high returns.

Can't speak on the routes since I'm pretty much only run the contracts, but the breakdowns are crazy. Just got a new truck and needed to repair it..five or six times already in the past 24 hours. Probably downgrade when I finish this run. Last truck was much better on that end.

Urziel - November 25, 2008 10:24 AM (GMT)
222 x .55 +500 = 622.10 / 222= 2.80/mile
mileage ppm cargo rate mileage true ppm
cc- hou

That is what I was referring to. That is a sweet run for any newbie with a junk truck who wants to turn some cash. And this doesn't even take into account cargo specialization or terminal bonuses. this kind of run appears fairly often in the cargo changes but we can't run it because it's DH.

In Aus the bonus cargoes usually dont even show up at all
