Just received this PM................they are changing the rules. Just like our federal...........nevermind.
Hey Truckers,
The giant Optimus Prime competition was due to end today, however there is been a flood of requests from players in the last week who are very close to one of the mileage targets. So, in the spirit of Thanksgiving and Christmas combined, we’re extending the deadline by fourteen days. But not a day more!
For those of you who’ve been clocking up serious mileage, don’t worry. We’re adding a final mileage multiplier to increase your chances to win. Up to now, there was a maximum of two entries for completing over 20,000 miles in the game. However, anyone who hits 40,000 miles before the 14th December will get an additional *four* entries into the draw (so, in total that is six chances to win).
The winner will be announced before Christmas, with the prize being dispatched asap!
Amended competition details will be available at
http://www.trukz.com/competition.aspHave fun, and keep on truckin

doo rider - December 1, 2008 09:06 PM (GMT)
well if i allredy driven past 30k before this will i get pms saying that i get another entary btw thats stupid to extend it there only dooing it so that more people will play and then quit when its over
nunrleft - December 1, 2008 09:07 PM (GMT)
So because some drivers couldn't hit the "target mileage" within the designated time allowed, the rest of us who worked hard and did hit the mileage as per the original rules will have a lesser chance of winning.
That doesn't really sound fair to those of us who followed the original rules.
Mr Bear - December 1, 2008 09:30 PM (GMT)
I tried replying to that message saying that I didn't want it, and it got an error saying that it wasn't a driver :(
War Man - December 1, 2008 09:40 PM (GMT)

No, 4 chances if you get 40k logged.
You get one entry every 10k logged. 1x4=4 :P

So because a few people couldn't average 1.111111(repeating) loads a day we all have to suffer? (well maybe not suffer but you get the point)
I mean lets look at this.
30 days = 720 hours
min speed 40mph = 28,000 miles in a month (in theory)
10,000 miles divided by 40mph = 250 hours of gameplay
250 hours = 10.5 days to 21 days (playing as much as possible to playing 12 legs a day)
You can go what 26 legs in a day, and even with a slow truck it wouldn't take more then about 21 days to get that 10,000 if you are a dedicated player and even if you aren't a dedicated player you could easily get that within 30 days.
So really all extending this contest is doing is awarding the players that don't have a good dedication to this game, and will not hang around after this contest is over.

Drunkgirl70times7 - December 1, 2008 10:54 PM (GMT)
so when is the 40k calculated from? cuz technically I should have already logged 40k in this month, well month of November. And I didn't get an email saying I got another entry. Not that I even want the thing, I'm just wondering.
Since I reached 40K before the extension would that be why? Does the code not look for existing candidates & only for people that hit the mark in the future? If so, someone should look into that. But I may just be speaking too early & the email is just being slow or something.
Vor - December 1, 2008 11:02 PM (GMT)
I've driven 39,045 miles in the 26 days since I created this driver. Suppose it doesn't much matter if they delay it. I'll hit the 40k target tomorrow.
InfoMaster - December 1, 2008 11:07 PM (GMT)
I feel this greatly discredits omac.
I mean who changes the rules at the last minute? Heck I am one of those people who was near a mileage limit (30 k miles) and I didn't say a peep. I was missing it because I missed around 13 hours one day due to running late for work.
I played before the contest, and I will play after, but I certainly picked up loads I normally would have ignored hoping to win something.
I feel that even receiving the extra 4 chances greatly discredits the spirit of the contest. A good real life example would be:
| QUOTE |
A manufacturing firm has several factories The regional president says "Production must increase 70% in november" Plant A increases 87% in November Plants B and C Increase 70 and 71% respectively. Plants D-H Fail to increase by 70% and give excuses.
And then the regional president, would be insulting Plant A, as well as B & C by giving the other plants 14 weeks to catch up before he fires the plant managers. It does not matter that plant A,B,C have increased, what if they scheduled holidays/Paid time off if the employees at their plants made the goals, and now that 2 more weeks count, their production goes lower? |
Just saying, I know this is a game, but I respect companies who try to do the right thing for everyone. If you always give people another chance they will never learn to take the right action the first time.

30k wasn't a target before, but what you say is true. As I said before I don't much care, but it isn't exactly in the spirit of fair competition. You don't add extra questions to a pub quiz if one team is late.

I agree with all that has been said, but unfortunatly OMAC is going to do what they want at the end of the day. Even though it is unfair to the drivers who have worked very hard, even though like posted previously it does not take much to accomplish the goal of 20000 miles, they obviously saw it to be more benificial to there needs to make drivers that are not as dedicated to the game as the others speaking here, happy.  To shorten this post though to the drivers tat could not make this goal think of your life away from the game. Does your boss say that it is ok that you are almost done even though others have already completed the task given on time or do your teachers high school or college say great job don't worry about the fact your report is not done on time, have a two week extension.
Just some food for thought guys. Have a great holiday season.
Flying Monkeys - December 2, 2008 02:48 PM (GMT)
What they sent in the PM doesn't match what is being advertised on their "competition page"................here is what that page says for entries:
20,000 - 39,999 miles - x2 multiplier (4 entries)
40,000 miles - x3 multiplier (6 entries)
50,000 miles - x4 multiplier (8 entries)
60,000 miles - x5 multiplier (10 entries)
70,000 miles - x6 multiplier (12 entries)
80,000 miles + x7 multiplier (14 entries)

I think you all need to take a second & get some perspective on this. It's not a job or project you worked hard on cuz you needed to get it done by the due date. It's a contest & alot of contests from a variety of different companies get extended all the time. Not only contests but also sales & job application deadlines.
Who hasn't heard of anything ever getting extended? Plus I doubt there's anything you would have done differently even if the contest wasn't going on. I'm not defending them at all, I don't really care either way. But I thought it was weird how everyone in this thread is acting like extensions never happen in the real world & that it's a direct attack on you.
& I'm not saying you're all stupid & wrong for thinking how you do. I mean I also got sucked into the first couple of posts & I agreed with them & got a little angry. But then I realized that contests get extended all the time. So I decided to write this to remind you all also. Have a good day

Yeah but most of those contests have disclaimers in then that we have to agree to if we want to be in the contest. This one not only did not have the disclaimer about how it could be extended/changed/ended/etc at anytime for any reason, but it did not also have a way to opt into or out of the contest.

If that is one of the rules then there should be a way to opt out of the contest. I'm sure some people just don't have the money or space needed to find a way to keep that thing. So, why would they want it?
