Heck I had a decent conversation going with three other drivers INCLUDING an English speaking driver about college football.

One other thing. there are several moderators and admins for the forums. seems strange that DMW Devil is the ONLY admin / moderator that targets me specifically.

MajorMike, I can only speak on behalf of myself on this, so take this as only coming from me.

A while back, I began to be more observant of what was happening all over Trukz, not just in my company or on my "company channel". I also decided to bring several things to the attention of the mods here.

At a certain point, I realized that I was just out looking for trouble. You, yes YOU, inspired me to revoke a complaint that I made, because I realized that it wasn't offending anyone other than me, and I had no reason to be there to be offended in the first place.

You and your company have a channel (Ch 1 I believe) and I cannot see any particular reason why you insist upon going to 97 in search of problems- problems that you have to use a translator to find!

Yes, I believe that there is swearing going on, and to some extent you will see it on almost EVERY CB channel out there. I have trouble believing that the people from Finland are speaking in Finnish just to avoid the filters. I also feel that until someone who speaks that language comes forward to tell us they are offended, then there's no reason for us to take any real action.

Would you start reporting me if I went around swearing in one of the other languages I speak (Spanish and German)? If I usually spoke english, and then suddenly changed languages to obscure my swearing, yes, I would certainly hope that it would get reported. But if we started an all Spanish channel, and we slipped in a few borderline colorful metaphors, will you be there to file an immediate report?

You may not like me for posting all this, and you might even say, "who the heck does this brnad new guy think he is to say all this?" Think about it- if I am the new guy and I already feel this way, don't you think there are many others who've put up with this longer who feel the same?

You NEED to lighten up, get away from the problem, and relax a bit. It's just a GAME. I come here for fun (and believe it or not, I find 99% of this to be fun). I stepped up to be a mod because I saw a number of people not having fun, and I felt I might help that situation. I'm going to try hard to do that. I want YOU to have fun also, and I can't see how what you're doing can be fun. If it is, then perhaps you need to find a different hobby.

To an extent I can understand what you are saying. "Its in Finnish so let it go"

Here is my issue with some of this.
If I cuss swear in English, (and I don't because I have respect for the rules of the game), I would expect to get moderated. What I do not expect to happen is an unwritten exception to the rules of the game because the words are in a foreign language.
If I cuss in Spanish, Portugese, Korean or Italian (although my Spanish is said to be "Castillian Spanish") I would expect to get moderated. --because the rules state no swearing -- does not make exceptions for languages. --

The rule is in place to make this a more user friendly arena, because at any time someone younger than us who also plays the game could in fact find those swear words in whatever language learn them and use them. The rule is in place to make this a more hospitable place to have fun in the game. The rule is in place to be enforced, otherwise it becomes just another sewer board on the internet.
Swearing is not really necessary, not even to 'emphasize' a point.
By the way according to a rules interpretation certain 'colorful metaphors' are allowable.

I don't "Hang out on 97' I hang out on 1(except when restricted and locked on 97) but often go back through the channels seeing what's out there. and when someone swearing just hits you in the face, you think "well I guess someone else is seeing this and it is getting adressed.
The you see that they are not capable of addressing their own friends and team players. I don't go to 97 looking for problems. I go there to chat with a few friends sometimes Drivers from our company use 97 to voice gripes about going ons in our company we are not too pleased with, and would rather not have the management see the gripes. It lets us talk out the issues without interference from the higherups putting in their three cents worth.

Unquote Well there is harm. the harm is that it is a violation of the rules. If that is so that htere is no harm in swearing in a foreign language, then let me swear in spanish, or portugese -- " Sorry Old Sport, Can't do that though, its is against the rules and more people recognize Spanish or Portugese". or " Oh well there are several methods of interpreting whatthis means, and even though the context it wassaid in does not really fit this administrator's interpretation, because its Finnish I am going ot let it slide" or "Well it is a complaint about Finnish so I am not going to enforce the black and white rule "
I got reported an then warned for calling someone Tonto -- the native American sidekick and good friend to the Lone Ranger -- because apparently in Spanish it means "Stupid"
(it is actually `tonto said or spoken with a much different inflection.

Either enforce the rules across the board for all 'players' otherwise open it up and let anyone cuss and swear like a drunken sailor on day three of four days shore leave.

If a person or persons are empowered to enforce policy as an admin or a moderator, you should be completely neutral, unbiased and make all decisions in a like manner, and not based on personal beliefs, friendships or dislikes.
Moderation and administration is not that place for anything other than neutral determinations.

I think you'll find that 1) we have and continue to handle reports from other languages - sometimes the action is to let go, sometimes it is to warn or suspend, and 2) there are times where it does appear that you "hang out on 97" - if all you did was report people frm there but remained silent in the channel itself, you'd still have your CB privileges.

Also, about the Tonto thing, 1) that's why you were not suspended for it, and 2) wasn't there a Far Side cartoon about this?

I think i must say something also behalf finnish people who are in CH 97.

First of all, MajorMike, if you have those PM's where finnish drivers laugh at you, please report em. They should have banned, I wont (and i believe most of finnish drivers) tolerate that kind of behavior. Secondly, I think jakke112 deserved his suspension today, he should have been nicer. If we want respect from MajorMike we should also behave nicely.

This is one of MajorMike's ways to harass finnish drivers, making usually monologue about US. college football. Nobody in finland doesn't care about US college football, its just way to harass and get some younger driver to say something bad so he can make report here. Sometimes he actually success to invite some his friend to chan too and then they talk together about it. Usually his friend leaves chan quite soon because, I believe he feels weird to talk college football in chan where all people talks finnish. So Major Mike continues alone.

I agree with DMW. This has to stop. You ruining joy of gaming from many of people. I'm 39yr old, driving IRL truck around scandinavia, I dont think i need you babysitting what I talk in finnish language chan. There is many other grown up players too, we can moderate our own chan ourselfs too. We don't need you there.

I have asked once nicely in CB why you keep coming there and why you hate us finns so much. I didn't get proper answer, just you hate "rude"behavior. Well, maybe some finn have said badly to you sometime back, or what meaning of this crusade, I don't know. But I hope you can left all this behind and stay on your own company chan and we stay on our own.

Finnish is one of most difficult languages in world to learn or use translation software btw. So it's really easy to get wrong ideas about phrases.

What I hope is peace for now on. We stay in 97 and paste our youtube links and talk in finnish and everyone with friendly attitude is welcome too, since most finnish people can speak english too. If someone pm's insults to you OR comes to CH 1 to flame, please report him here.

I'm am really tired of this situation anyway, even was thinking about selling my CB off. But we finnish people are pretty stubborn people, we cant give up when we feel we are right.

So what you think about, we leave you alone and you leave us alone?

Majormike, it appears you are one of those people who enjoys looking for things to report that you are supposedly offended by. And if you can't immediately find something you have to go hunting using things like translators.

But it is worse than that. You conciously try and instigate things to report by provoking other players.

You don't seem happy unless you have something to report. And you are unfortunately not alone.

Nobody else in the game seems to have any problems with the Finnish players. Can you not leave others in peace to enjoy conversation on the CB without having to look over their shoulder for someone like you, who is going to report them for saying something that might offend somebody in another language when taken completely out of context.

If the Finnish language offends you so much, stay off 97 and give us all peace.

The admins and mods do a good job of keeping the game clean. Sometimes it is more difficult than others. You can help, Majormike, by stopping this nonsense.

MajorMike, thank you for the well-thought-out a respectful response. A few minor issues-

I am not saying that you should let it go because it's in a different language, but I am saying that some of what you have posted as complaints are a stretch even in English terms (but of course translation can be subjective for context). It appears you are not fluent in Finnish, and therefore cannot reliably translate without the help of some interpreter, which does not take context into account.

It's not your complaints themselves that are the issue. It is 1) the frequency of the complaints, 2) the appearance that you go after every little fracture of the rules, and then claim it to be blatantly broken, and 3) your constant interaction with a group who you *appear* to have issues with.

You seem like a nice guy with a decent sense of humor at times, and that makes me really wonder why you continue to push the issue. You seem smarter than that.

As far as my being (or not being) neutral, unbaised, and so forth- I am human, and am therefore always going to be somewhat subjective. What I can guarantee is this- I'm going to call it like I see it, and you will see me coming a mile away. If I do see an issue of conflict of interest or bias in my own work, I will call it out, and if I don't see it, I expect others to call me on it, hopefully in a respectful way. I have already had numerous conversations with other mods and admins, so I can assure you that we rarely act solely on our own impulse without some type of discussion. We, being human, are certainly not perfect and we do make mistakes, but we also try to correct them when we can.

there were ppl making cracks about my deceased father ( yeah you know about those) and I let it slide. Got a lot of PM's complimenting me on my control. Nothing was done about that flaming / baiting.

Actually even this morning when Major Mike started to chat again at ch97, I asked what makes him continue if he really is nearly 40yrs old and acts like 10-15yrs... all he does is speaking of college football which isnt understandable topic in Finland as we can get to college alot easier, just go.
Anyways back for this case Mike is sometimes nice guy and chats good but most of time he just lurks in ch97 and tries to find separate words so he can complain at forum about swearing, using Finnish isn't avoiding filter as Finnish People tends to speak Finnish and i told him so at this morning and what i got... It was total gibberish. Even Finnish is my native tongue i had really hard times to try understand what you was trying to say. Even my daughter wrote better Finnish when he was 3 years old. Your "Finnish" was just some Finnish words in random order, including some English words also.

One of most difficult situation in Finnish language to your nice translation software's is, in Finnish same word may mean many things. What it means every case says other words in phrase.

Anyway if you really want learn Finnish, I'm sure there is lot of better ways too than be in channel 97, since we chat there and we don't use grammar there.

Like I said once before, something needs to be done to end this "Finnish" channel 97 nonsense. I refuse to read anything posted above as I'm sure it's the same old he said/they said crap. Is there a way to deny a specific player access to a specific channel? That might do it. :unsure:

I would prefer to think that people would be reasonable and respectful if given the chance, but I do understand what you're saying.

Most of these ch 97 threads are ndf, I like to take the opportunity to get my feelings across to the mods and admin that the same crap everyday involving the same people perhaps needs a more drastic solution than your average cb offense.

why not just close this and when another mod/admin comes they will open it and post then the problem would be solved
