Title: Noobs Guide to Playing Trukz

Roadpup - May 4, 2007 07:22 PM (GMT)
The Official Unofficial Noobs Guide to Playing Trukz

Welcome to Trukz Noobs. user posted image So you’re ready to start jamming gears and spreading terror on the fourwheelers of North America. And you’re wondering how to do this. Well, Roadpup is going to educate you. Listen up Noobs.

1. Buy a truck. With $5000 startup cash you have three choices of beaters: a 1981 Peterbilt 352 costing you $3950, a 1989 Kenworth K100 costing $4500 or 1994 Freightliner FLB that costs $4950. The top speed listed for each is when that truck is at 100% condition. To calculate the top speed of the truck based on the condition listed simply multiply the top speed by the % shown. The 1981 Peterbilt 352 at 70% condition will give that truck a max speed of about 45mph.

2. Next thing is to choose a route. This is where you as a Trukz driver need to exert a bit of pressure on the cerebral goo between your ears. You’ll notice that your position on the Google map is highlighted by a green marker. Chances are you didn’t read the Players Guide in advance and you chose a city that you live in or is close to you. Regardless, that location with the green marker is where you start out. You can choose to drive to any city that has a red marker on it or you can view the list of available cargos shown here to determine whether or not you want to haul a Top 5 cargo (marked with a *) to take advantage of the bonus each one of those Top 5 cargos pay out. The Top 5 change 12am game time on Monday and Thursday as do the Supply and Demand of each city so nothing stays the same for more than a week. Before I forget... in order haul to Hazardous Waste or Nuclear Waste, your Driver Rating must be 40 for HW and 50 for NW. Don't forget this and make a fool of yourself by asking on the forum why you can't select either of those two cargos when you happen to be in the two cities that supply the stuff. Now, when you've got an idea of where you want to go click on the red marker for the city you want to go to. You'll be able to Calculate what each of the two cargo types that your current city supplies and the amount you'll earn hauling to your destination city. Then click the Drive This Route button. Guess what? You’re finally a Trukz driver. A regular gear jammin’ hand, a bonafide rig jockey and the terror of the highways. Congrats Noob.

3. Now comes the difficult part for Noobs. In your route dashboard you can change the speed in the box by placing your cursor in there and backspacing on your keyboard. Enter a new speed. It can’t be greater than your Truck’s Top Speed. So if your truck only goes 45 mph then that’s all you can enter in the speed box.

4. Keep on clicking that Next Leg button. Each time you click you add on a Fatigue Point (FP). Each FP mimics one hour driven. Keep clicking until you notice a big read message at the top of your screen stating You are exhausted and beyond your HOS. If you don’t pull over soon you are going to fall asleep at the wheel or get a ticket for driving beyond your HOS. If you’re the gambling type keep on clicking. You might get tapped with a random ticket. Cheapest ticket will cost you $125. If you’re not the brightest bulb in the box and feeling lucky… drive another leg. You might get another ticket or you might just wreck your truck. Take my advice… as a Noob driver you can’t afford tickets or wrecking so when you see that warning STOP!

5. Now it’s time to rest your driver. For every real life hour that passes you’ll drop one FP. Unlike the real world of trucking where we drivers have to rest for a minimum of 10 hours… you computer rig jockeys can drive a little bit more as the FP’s drop off at the top of each hour if you're the type to hang out on the internet a lot.

6. That’s it. When you reach your destination city you’ll get paid. You’ll have to refuel and repair your truck which uses up FP’s. Don’t whine to the admin about this feature. This is the compromise that was made to facilitate game play. Take a break from your computer. Go outside and do something. Call your mom. Or your girlfriend. Anything.

Congrats. You're now a Noob who knows how to play Trukz. Catch ya on the flip.

I wish I read something like this when I first started playing trukz. On my first route, I did Denver to Prudhoe Bay. LOL.

Thanks for the quick and easy guide man. Just started today and am already loving it! :)

Pinchin_Loafs - July 14, 2007 10:56 AM (GMT)
So if I take the top number and devide it by the percent where do i find its top speed to begin with or is that the number thats there already? EG:
I purchased the KW and my top speed was 49 MPH But after I completed my first run my truck was at 73.9 % which scrubbed 1 mile per hour so the equasion is 75 % = 49 mph or to find the trucks actual top speed at 100% would be 49./75 = 36.75 so call it 37 and so 37 +49. would have givin the over all top speed of a 100% KW would have been 86 MPH correct? Provided that there isn't a govener on the truck .. lol. just wondering ..

when you see that warning STOP!

Stop everything all together? Would it be a good idea to rest then? Or just wait a few RL hours?

Lot of people do micromanage their routes.. meaning they like to go for a next leg every hour. You can wait a few hours and come back though.. even if you're down to 5 or 4 on FP.

Carraninator - July 30, 2007 04:30 AM (GMT)
You say the cargo demand changes every week. Do you know when the new week starts?

This way I can map out a route to tackle 2-4 cities within the week to make optimum amount of money.

ersatz - July 30, 2007 07:12 AM (GMT)
The cargo changes 12am game time on Monday and Thursday

"The top speed listed for each is when that truck is at 100% condition. To calculate the top speed of the truck based on the condition listed simply multiply the top speed by the % shown."

If I buy a truck, then upgrade it beyond its original max condition, will it go faster than the originally-listed top speed?

For example, the '89 Volvo WIA64T has a top speed of 60 MPH and comes at a condition of 85%. If I buy that, then buy a geometric charger to increase its top condition to 100%, will its top speed increase as well?

First of all, I thought the top truck speed is calculated at the condition it is at, not at 100%. Second, you cannot increase a truck past 100%, so the speed will not increase past that.

I wouldn't be trying to increase the condition of the truck beyond 100%; it comes at 85%, so I would be trying to increase it right to 100%. Then I'm wondering if it will have a higher top speed than when I bought it at 85%.

Austin Binish - September 10, 2007 08:26 PM (GMT)
yes, if you purchase say tires, your top speed increases

sebastian - September 10, 2007 09:33 PM (GMT)
Thanks. That creates a lot of interesting dillemmas: buy the nicest truck one can afford, or buy a cheaper on then upgrade it? Adds a little strategy. Cool.

MichaelPilch - October 3, 2007 12:27 AM (GMT)
helpful, even tho i've been playing for a little while already.

I noticed some supplies don't change (beer from St. Louis, for example). Is there a rhyme or reason to which city supplies change?

Yes, the first supply listed for each city stays the same. The second one listed changes every Weds and Sunday night at midnight. Both demands change each time. The onoly exception is Yucca Mountain which alsways has the same supply and demand.

You can not interact, meaning no pm's, and don't be in the same company, that'll get you a deletion/ban. Pm admin just to make him aware of your case.

After logging in, if you haven't bought a truck yet, it will have a link that says Purchase Truck

If you already own a truck, you can click on Game Statistics, then click on Truck Lot to see all of the trucks that are available for you to purchase.
