Title: Driver Rating

admin - May 5, 2007 07:42 AM (GMT)
Your driver rating combined with total miles logged reflects how successful a driver is at his job.

Your driver rating is increased when you deliver successful cargo loads. The driver rating increase is determined by the miles of your route up to a maximum of 0.5. If you arrive late when you deliver your route (even by just one minute) you will not recieve this driver rating increase. Receiving tickets for any reason reduces your driver rating -0.5 points. Driver ratings are unlimited.

The formula for driver rating on routes is as follows:
rating = travel distance * .0003
if rating > .5 then ratingimprove = .5
if cargo type = "Dead Head" then rating = 0

To drive cargos types of Hazardous Waste you must have a driver rating greater than 40. To drive cargos types of Nuclear Waste you must have a driver rating greater than 50.

does having a wreck decrease your DR?

yes

Dutch - July 15, 2007 06:22 AM (GMT)
This may be a stupid question, but how does DR affect your game? Does it make your truck faster, does it make your FP max go up, does it do anything, or is it just a way of showing off how leet you are?

Pagan - July 15, 2007 10:48 AM (GMT)
Ignore.

Mike Cat - July 15, 2007 12:39 PM (GMT)
Not sure about that^
but you can start hauling Nuclear Wastes and other stuff of a certain number (i think 10)

40 for hazardous, 50 for nuclear waste.

You also need 2.0 (and other things) to buy stock.

I could have sworn I read that somewhere, but obviously not.

You also need certain DR levels for the Haz Mat, Doubles, Triples, and oversized load endorsements.

does DR effect how much u make on a load?[COLOR=purple]

No it does not.

i like this system...the better you get and better rating you get the more you can take on...im not sure about DR affecting stock purchases i dont like that because i dont think that your rating should have any place in buying stocks

Thats part of your activity meter. To buy stocks you need to have done 10K miles and have a driver rating of 2.0 to proove that you are an active driver and that you wont quit the game screwing the stocks up in any company you bought into

This is of course just my opinion but I think it should effect your likeliness of getting into a crash. You know, better DR=Better driver. Of course I'm not sure how you could really setup the system but it just seems like it should effect the game in that sense somehow.

It does. As your DR increases your pay rate increases above the standard pay per mile rate. This would correlate to experience/years driving a truck which provides a driver with more pay.

Oh, didn't know that, well thank you for telling me then.

Here are the calculations behind route pay per mile:
Collection = Cargo base pay per mile * Route Distance
Collection = Collection + (Route Distance * 1.5%)
Collection = Collection + (Cargo Weight / 40000)
Collection = Collection + (Collection * Terminal Bonus) {see note1}
If destination city demands cargo type:
Collection = Collection + (Collection * 10%)
If cargo type is company preferred cargo type:
Collection = Collection + (Collection * 5%)
Collection = Collection + Cargo Bonus {based on cargo demand}
Collection = Collection + City Bonus {based on city climate}
If driver gameplay is casual:
Collection = Collection * .80

Where does DR come into that?

Red Dog - September 3, 2007 05:00 PM (GMT)
Ugh, ok now I'm all confused... Oh well I stand by my question then. Which was more geared towards crashes than money but at this point I'm more interested in money.

D Dude - September 3, 2007 05:03 PM (GMT)
All I know is that something is affecting my earnings. When I click on a route it provides a figure that I can expect to deliver. When I make the delivery the completion screen shows that I earned more than the original figure provided. If it's not an increase in my DR doing this then I don't know what it is that is giving me this additional revenue.

Wouldn't that just make it impossible for new players to rise through the ranks? Or harder at least.

While something like that may be realistic, I think it would be bad for the game.

Now if this game had insurance (yes I know the idea has already been shot down) then it would make sense that members with a higher DR, or fewer tickets, would pay less insurance.

Tyler Durden - September 12, 2007 08:40 PM (GMT)

I think that being late shouldn't TOTALLY negate the increase in rating, but it should be penalized based on the amount you are late.

Driving 2500 miles and being 2 mins late shouldn't get you nothing.

Why are you driving 2500 miles?

And you wouldn't be 2 minutes late, it would be 1 hour late minimum.

Not really. Regardless of when a player started, if we both have the same DR we'd be earning the same pay. So if a new player starts 30 days after I did and passes my DR rating he'd make more money even though he's newer. Seems fair enough even though I'd be the senior player in the game.

One problem, if he started 30 days after you he wouldn't have the same DR and therefore wouldn't have the same pay and therefore would not be able to pass you. :blink:

With the exception of course being that the senior player wasn't "senior" enough to know how to avoid tickets.

You're assuming that all players log on and play the game an equal amount of time each day. Since I'm a casual player and not able to get online every day as a result of my job he'd eventually pass me. Same goes for the player who hovers over his keyboard constantly from home or work or both over the player who doesn't.

The point I'm trying to make is that the DR represents a level of experience in the job of trucking or any other job. The more experience you have the more pay you theoretically should earn (until they pink slip you and replace you with a new employee at half the cost or outsource your job overseas).

Actually I was assuming that most people are available enough to be able to plan their HOS.

I have classes in the mornings and work most afternoons/evenings, and because of this I plan accordingly, to the extent that I can at least.

Since you are in fact a trucker in real life, I understand you may not be as able to do so. However, I think the majority of players are able to spare the 5 minutes 2-3 times a day and that's why I think this suggestion will make it more difficult for people to rise through the ranks.

It would be nice though. B)

In my experience theoretical pay is like theoretical yield (in Chemistry). The actual yield is never equal to the theoretical.

Outsourcing :gunes:

does having a double trailer endorsment give you a higher rating for a route like say you make a short route that will give you .10 without a double trailer if you have the double trailer would you make more than .10?

Trukz0 - October 8, 2007 07:27 PM (GMT)
It lets you haul more = more pay = more DR increase.

But DR is mileage based, not money based...in other words, it makes you more money per haul but not more DR.

Austin Binish - October 9, 2007 02:20 AM (GMT)
By having more money, it in turn gets you higher DR. Since you have more money, you have a better truck, which can go faster and go longer between fuel, which saves FP, those then turn into an extra route here and there, which is added DR

"Money can be exchanged for goods and services."

Clearly you are correct that added DR can be an extended effect of being able to haul more stuff, but the question seemed to be asking about direct effects, so that answer would have been no.
