Title: Trucks

admin - March 13, 2007 07:16 AM (GMT)
Your truck’s condition will deteriorate gradually as you travel your route. Crashing your truck by falling asleep at the wheel or by driving too fast in severe weather will cause your trucks condition to deteriorate significantly. Your truck is also prone to random failures as you travel along your route. The odometer on your truck plays a role in how often these random mechanical failures occur with higher mileage vehicles more susceptible to higher odds of failure.

You may repair your truck in-route for the cost of repairs and one fatigue point which will raise your trucks current condition to your trucks best condition available. The best condition available exists for all trucks because of wear and tear. As you travel your route your truck’s best condition will deteriorate similar to your trucks current condition but at a much slower rate. When making repairs to your truck you will not be able to raise your trucks current condition above your trucks best condition. In order to raise your trucks best condition back to the top condition that it was when you purchased it you must peform an overhaul on your truck. Companies will not assist in truck overhauls and it costs double the fatigue point penalty to overhaul your truck compared to peforming standard repairs. Trucks with higher mileage odometers will be charged additional fees per condition point since more wear and tear and age makes the truck more difficult to repair and overhaul.

Wear and tear on your truck will also reduce the maximum hauling weight that it can pull, also know as the truck's load limit. You can repair your truck to increase it's maximum load limit. Keep in mind that your trucks load limit and the legal load limit are two seperate things. Your truck's load limit may be 60,000 lbs but if the legal load limit is 40,000 lbs you could face weight penalties in-route for hauling more than 40,000 lbs.

You may sell your truck as long as you are not currently driving a route. Once you have sold your existing truck you will see the Purchase Truck link appear on the left navigation menu. You will need to purchase a new truck in order to begin a new route.

when you have the money to do it but only to the point that it was bought at

kentsma - July 9, 2007 04:10 PM (GMT)
Why over-haul when you can buy a newer truck?

Duncan007 - July 9, 2007 04:22 PM (GMT)
While the 5k base price may not be worth it for newer drivers, when you get a more expensive truck, it can become more worthwhile to overhaul.

Bobloblaw - July 9, 2007 11:51 PM (GMT)
The random failures are pretty harsh, had two within 3 - 4 turns and it cost me a ton :(

maybe my truck just sucks

KingShibby - July 10, 2007 05:34 PM (GMT)
If I buy an item that increases the maximum truck condition, does that raise the overhaul condition level? Or does it increase the maximum truck condition relative to the overhaul condition?

cressers69 - July 10, 2007 05:47 PM (GMT)
What does over haul mean ??

Mike Cat - July 10, 2007 06:01 PM (GMT)
use over your allowed weight

I think he is referring to the feature where you can restore your truck back to its maximum possible repair condition. I believe the button only appears when you can afford it, and it costs something like $5,000. It should be next to the "repair" button if I remember correctly.

--ooops double post--

A few notes... When truck shopping remember to add your current cash plus the current value of your rig for the max amount your new truck can cost. If you decide you want a loan tack that also on to the max.

As for overhaul, it is a full rehab of the rig. Thinking about it, maybe rehab is a better term since overhaul seems to breed some confusion.

where, in the game, is the link to the truck lot? Yes, I see the URL provided above, but where in the game do I click to see the lot? I can't find it under any of my options in game.

The overhaul button only appears if you have enough cash on hand to pay for it. And it takes a lot of money, early on you're better off just buying a new truck.

Overhauling a truck costs a minimum of 5000$ you don't have that much.

Marion Oaks - July 18, 2007 04:51 PM (GMT)
what does overhauling a truck does?

zax_was_here - July 18, 2007 05:27 PM (GMT)
i think it brings it back up to the purchase condition

Marion Oaks - July 18, 2007 05:33 PM (GMT)
then what happens if you have a condition higher then the original condition

(and why dont you just buy a new truck for $5k, it will be better, and have better condition then most trukz you had before then, if your a newer player and have 5k)

zax_was_here - July 18, 2007 05:44 PM (GMT)
what if you have the best truck?

or a higher-end truck

Marion Oaks - July 18, 2007 05:47 PM (GMT)
well then its worth it, but i dont think this option should be available for people who have trucks that were bought for less then $5,000

zax_was_here - July 18, 2007 05:48 PM (GMT)
meh...let them mess up

typically when you are a new player you will save up for a new one, not overhaul your old truck

Marion Oaks - July 18, 2007 05:49 PM (GMT)
well, some might want to see what it does, then finds out they wasted there money

Monster Jam - July 18, 2007 05:50 PM (GMT)
I would think that by the time one make that much money they would know better/be saving for a faster truck. Not to mention that they wont know about it until they have that much cash on hand.

zax_was_here - July 18, 2007 05:51 PM (GMT)
and if they want to know

they can always visit the fabulous forums
