Title: Election Megathread

Alpert - October 9, 2008 08:31 PM (GMT)
Ok, politics is a huge topic. Lots of people are making polls about who they want to win, why this candidate is good, why that candidate is bad, so to save a lot of room on the forums, here is the ELECTION MEGATHREAD.

If you create another election topic, you will be warned. Please use THIS topic to talk about ANYTHING related to the Election. If this gets off topic, you will get ONE chance to bring it back on topic, and if not, no more election talk.

Ready?

Set?

STOP :awesome:

Go.

Obama is the one whos critical of bush, from what Ive seen, Obama needs to be vp and not biden.
Obama is way too inexperienced to run this country, he contradicts himself in his speaches, which are good more because hes a good speaker than they actually go anywhere.
Obama is full of new ideas, but how many of them are we going to go through before we find a good one?
they dont let idiots fly f-4 phantoms, and idiots dont survive being a pow of war, McCain smears obama, and the scary thing Obama doesnt even try to address what McCain is talking about.

OBAMA/BIDEN

The reason McCain talks more about Obama, then what he is gonna do for the country he loves so much, is that he has no other strategy to use. He already told you what he's gonna do to help this country. What are the results? More people believe Obama. He tried bringing in a so called pretty  extremely inexperienced and Dumb founded VP. What are the results? Even more people are siding with Obama. Now he tries to bring up every negative thing he can TRUE or FALSE about Obama. What are the results? Obama again. I feel sorry for the guy. Have you ever watched him... It looks like he's gonna shake into a seizure or something. A lot of people say Obama may be assasinated if he gets in office. Maybe so, it won't be the first time, but if so Biden can carry on. When McCain shakes into a coma or something terrible, cause its bound to happen. Who are we left with? A Pitbull with glasses/lipstick, wanna be hockey/soccer mom VP! ROFLMAO I and the majority of America DON'T THINK SO!!! With McCains tremendous amount of experience, and military background, not to mention his son fighting in the war, you would think that he wouldn't have to stoop to such levels to win an election. I still can't understand why so many Americans want a lying, inexperienced, terrorist wanna be, bi-racial, contradicting candidate as President. Who knows, maybe someone here can tell me. Oh yea I'm gonna be setting up an account, so we can help everyone that wants to move out of the country next month, cause from the looks of things OBAMA/BIDEN'S gonna be your next Pres/VP. Just remember... you can get get mad and cry, fuss and cuss... but come November, OBAMA you must trust. ROFLMAO

Haha, Brandon I would say your right. I personaly believe if Obama gets in Office (god hope he doesn't) he'll be killed within 1/2 his first term.

Its sad, and I would hate for Obama to get killed for the wrong reasons (because he's black :( )

Thats not a laughing matter, maybe all his terrorist connections, racist pastor and all that as.....bad luck on his part...okay, yeah right. But maybe Obama changed......?

If he did something to hurt our country on the other hand, like hand money out to ayers or something similar, that would not be getting killed for the wrong reason.

I firmly believe that Obama should be prosecuted for his acts. He is proving more and more that he is a dangerous and reckless man in his actions and deeds. It is extremely reckless to try to undermine a sitting president in a time of war while all you are doing is running for the office. Dangerous, reckless, illegal.

http://washingtontimes.com/news/2008/oct/1...s-on-bush-deal/

This law was created specifically because a Senator tried to conduct unilateral negotiations and it was amended in 1994, it is valid and true for this particular situation.

Obama shows more and more that he is by far a horrible choice for the highest office in the land.

Nightryno, I really don't like Obama, but I have to say, that argument holds less validity then the people that say McCain can't run because he was born in Panama.

garnetpalmetto - October 10, 2008 03:53 PM (GMT)
I'll go with Obama-Biden here. I supported McCain back in 2000 when he was running in the Primaries and really hoped he'd be the nominee. Then Karl Rove unleashed his book of dirty tricks in South Carolina and it was all Bush from then on out. I agree with Obama's foreign policy points as well as domestic policy and think that he's got the prescription for helping fix all that's gone wrong the last eight years. Had McCain picked his original choice, Joe Lieberman to be his VP pick, I might have had a more difficult decision, but Palin just clinches it for me.

I totally agree. I was very big Obama supporter during the democratic primaries, but the more I learned about him the more I was disgusted. I really liked McCain but I was shocked and appauled when he chose Palin. She cannot even be trusted out of her house by herself. So now I am throughly disgusted by both canidates. If McCain chose Liebermann, I would have definitly voted for him. I think I will just waste my vote on Nader.

How doesn't it Alco? He's trying to undermine a sitting president in a time of war to which he has ZERO authority and is in violation of an act forbidding these actions.

I can't believe people succumb to the same old propaganda BS that we've been fed out entire lives.

From the first link:

At the same time the Bush administration was negotiating a still elusive agreement to keep the U.S. military in Iraq, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama tried to convince Iraqi leaders in private conversations that the president shouldn't be allowed to enact the deal without congressional approval.

The Logan Act:

In general, the Act is intended to prohibit American citizens without authority from interfering in relations between the United States and foreign governments. Although attempts have been made to repeal the Act, it remains law and at least a potential sanction to be used against anyone who without authority interferes in the foreign relations of the United States.

Obama is right. Congress SHOULD have a say in our foreign affairs, and before this country went downhill, they did. We've given way too much power to Bush, and if McCain is elected, he too will have too much unchecked power. Congressional Approval is what keeps a lunatic like Bush from destroying our nation- and if you look at his 8 years in office, you will see why the president needs to be able to be vetoed by congress.

I just wish people would read ALL the facts instead of picking and choosing one line here and one line there. My first choice would have been Ron Paul btw. McCain is an ABSOLUTE NO for me, and I think Obama-Biden can get some things accomplished for our nation. Maybe they'll even listen to some of the things Ron Paul has to say....

Nightryno - October 10, 2008 07:53 PM (GMT)
Sorry there John, Barack Hussein violated US law with his actions. Congress does have oversight and a say but he has on right to take action upon himself. In fact, this act was created because of a Senator that tried to overstep his boundaries, as Barack is doing. He tried to undermine a sitting president covertly and without authority. The president has the authority to negotiate with foreign countries, not individual senators.

Are we talking about the Iraq war? Anyone has the authority to undermine that. Hell, I do. My dog has the authority to undermine it too. Your argument sounds like desperation against a possible landslide victory for Obama. Well sir, your screams are falling upon deaf ears, for the flock you are preaching to has gone to greener pastures.

Nightryno - October 10, 2008 08:43 PM (GMT)
I am referring to Barack's back door dealings with the leaders of Iraq. No citizen is authorized to conduct relations like that according to the Logan act, no senator, no citizen.

1936,Justice Sutherland wrote in the majority opinion: "[T]he President alone has the power to speak or listen as a representative of the nation. He makes treaties with the advice and consent of the Senate; but he alone negotiates. Into the field of negotiation the Senate cannot intrude, and Congress itself is powerless to invade it."

And regarding your landslide comment, I don't believe it in the slightest and I am far from desperate. I saw that he violated US law and I simply brought it to the forefront of this discussion. If you are believing it to be a landslide based upon the polls, I don't buy into polls in the slightest as they are far from accurate.

If i could vote, i would vote for Mccain. I dont like Obama, or Illinois. My dad has some really liberal friends and has talked to a bunch of people that live in Illinois, and they wont vote for him. They say that he isnt ready. But the big thing for me, is gun control. We dont need it. But Obama would like to see guns banned. Last time i went through Illinois, all i saw was anti gun crap. So we got the hell out of there because we were on our way to kill us some ducks and geese in Arkansas. But to me, the big thing is gun control. I wish gangs would learn how to aim, and not just fire bullets into a crowd and hope they hit there targets. Then they would take them selves out, and it wold help lower violence. I found this on another site, yall can think what you want about it. It may not be factual, but we need to think about gun control. And we need to say NO to it.

t has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars. The first year results are now in:

Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent

Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent

Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!

In the state of Victoria, Australia alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent. Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not, and criminals still possess their guns!

It will never happen here? I bet the Aussies said that too!

While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed.

There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the ELDERLY. Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in successfully ridding Australian society of guns. The Australian experience and the other historical facts above prove it.

You won't see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians disseminating this information.

Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens.

Take note my fellow Americans, before it's too late!

The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind him of this history lesson.

With Guns.............We Are 'Citizens'.
Without Them........We Are 'Subjects'..

During W.W. II, the Japanese decided not to invade America because they knew most Americans were ARMED !

Obama would like to see guns banned? Think again.

Brandon, McCain is a war hero, Obama is a terrorist connected inexperienced idiot who has a mentor who is racist.

McCain knows his stuff, reason he talks crap on Obama, well Obama deserves it, I'm sure McCain is just as scared if not more to see the country he loves fall into his hands.

Just because McCain has war experience doesn't mean that he can be a good president. And plus those terriorists he knows are almost dead and that doesn't mean they will do anything.. Obama is too nice a guy to harm all of us.

Obama has no past experience has being a "nice guy." McCain, does.

Obama has a horrible and "not nice guy" track record. Just because he talks nice and fancy up in front of the camera don't mean crap. Its politics, they're all lieing scum, you just choose the one that is less likely the worse lieing scum.
