Title: Suggestion: Someone to Moderate the Moderators

pauliedanger - November 17, 2008 12:41 AM (GMT)
I haven't been here that long, but it's clear that at least one moderator is biased towards people he knows, likes or agrees with.

I've eaten two warnings for flaming in another thread (which has been closed), despite the fact that I was reacting to someone who took the thread off topic and decided to attack union workers. As a former union man myself, I took a little umbrage to the matter. But when it came time to hand out warnings, I was the only one to get warned.

The other poster didn't get a warning for flaming, instigating or taking a thread off topic.

So yeah, either someone needs to strip dmw devil of his mod powers, or someone really needs to supervise this clown.

DMW, get your act together.

Flaming

I just call it like I see it, and I'm not the only one who sees your bias, DMW.

I just call it like I see it, and I'm not the only one who sees your bias, DMW.

I see nothing wrong with DMW's actions...you flamebaited and he warned you for it. You said yourself you would be happy to take the flamebaiting warning. Just follow the rules, and you will not have a problem with DMW.

pauliedanger - November 17, 2008 02:05 AM (GMT)
I'm fine getting warned, but I want there to be some equality in it. You just admitted I was baited, so no warning for the instigator? That's just ridiculous. Particularly when he's calling a major segment of the workforce, and a hefty portion of this site's users (if there are many real world drivers around here) lazy.

Fisha695 - November 17, 2008 02:08 AM (GMT)
He never said you were baited.

bigcody - November 17, 2008 02:28 AM (GMT)
defination of falmebaiting is Flame/Flamebait
Flaming is expressing anger at someone in uncouth ways with out of character (OOC) comments. Flamebait are posts that are made with the aim of angering someone indirectly. Forum users should not be participating in either as in doing so will result in a warning.

And I'll happily accept the flaming warning.

QUOTE
So give me another warn for calling the mods unfair.

Those were your two warns. And Alco was warned in that thread as well (though he also doesn't like it), so your "I was the only one to get warned" is actually less than accurate.

As for the rest of this "suggestion" I'll let some other admin or moderator respond, since - as plenty of people will affirm I always do - I don't close out or do any moderator action on conflicts of interest, and an accusation against me certainly creates such a conflict.

...Where in my post do I admit you were baited??? Oh, that's right. NOWHERE. Try to read things for what they say, not what you want them to say.

This is getting simple. I'm just looking for the mods to act in a fair manner. I still have zero love for Fisha since he's obviously a rat scab. DMW is still completely biased. And the people who have thrown support to me in PM's need to show up here.

QUOTE (pauliedanger @ Nov 17 2008, 01:41 AM)
The other poster didn't get a warning for flaming, instigating or taking a thread off topic.

1. Flaming: Fisha made some general remarks about unions, you and Alco made personal attacks on Fisha and his family. See the difference?

2. Instigating: What offense is instigating supposed to be? Flamebaiting? Find the offense and we can discuss it but I don't see it in any of his posts.

Off topic: You're right. OT is a warnable offense but Fisha didn't take it OT by himself. All 3 of you did so that's an extra warn for each of you.

Also you should notice that repeat topics are also warnable, and there was already a union suggestion on the first page of the suggestion box when you re-suggested it. That means you should be on 4 warnings in just one day.

If anything the only thing DMW can be accused of is being too lenient. Count yourself lucky Monster Jam isn't still in charge, suck up the warnings like you said you would before they had even been handed out and get on with playing the game.

jefffan24 - November 17, 2008 12:11 PM (GMT)
I follow the rules I don't get in trouble...I may push the limits here and there but I know where they are...how about not being so aggressive...try calming down, not taking things to far....and hey here is the best suggestion of all FOLLOW THE RULES!!! do all those things I mentioned and I promise you will go warn free.

ROFLMAO Totally right...He loved handing out warns for even the slightest break of the rules. I agree, if anything DMW is being easy on people.

(DMW- That does not mean you have to change ;) )

I will always support a union worker. Screw the scabs.

Mr Korrupt - November 17, 2008 11:02 PM (GMT)
I worked as a mod before with DMW and I have to say that he is doing everything right here. DMW in my opinion the best moderator here( even though he's an admin) and sorry gravedigger,. Like Norman said, he's being easy on you. You in just this thread could receive a warn. DMW and no moderator, finds pleasure in giving out warns, they just give them out accordingly.

And as my buddy jeff said, cool your jets before you get in more trouble.

SUDSY - November 18, 2008 11:06 PM (GMT)
I think a few are hall monitors at a JR High School in real life.

Alpert - November 18, 2008 11:27 PM (GMT)
Why would we need someone to Moderate us? I'm not sure, but I think that's OMAC's job, admin's job, and I think it comes with being the Lead Forum Admin (Don't quote me on that, I'm not sure).

Also, we do nothing wrong, whatsoever. So, are you saying that if you ask for a warn, we aren't supposed to give it to you?

Also, DMW did the right thing in both cases, he did nothing wrong.

And out of curiousity, what would he be biased towards, and why against you?

jefffan24 - November 19, 2008 12:15 AM (GMT)
Alpert I think they are mad b/c they got a warn/ban/suspension...if you would follow the rules and calm down, and not ask for warns...the Mods/Admins would never have to even jump in.

Just follow the rules, don't push the limits, and just go along with everything and I promise you will be fine, there is no need for this idea.

Mods should let newbies on forums go

mods should let people less than 5 posts flow

flaming obiosucly

Several times, DMW has let people get off the hook and not be warned because they were new.

from what i've seen i think the mods in general should lower there ban hammer level by just a notch. mostly i think there needs to be more moderating in game then on the forums now with some disgrasful ways people are cheating these days

That is why things in-game are reported on the forums. So they can be taken care of.

sorry for late response but yeah i guess thats true i mean punishment for in game cheating like rogue contract or mr mangers shold either get there accounts deleted or ip's banned because obviously they have no respect for the people who actually play the game fair

StandingCow - December 1, 2008 05:49 PM (GMT)
Like I tell the users in the forums that I moderate. You have no idea what goes on behind closed doors, nor do you know what happens to other users, nor is it any of your business.

So, often times, it looks as if only you were punished, when that is not the case at all. :)

We do on most cases, unless it is a serious offense like flaming. But if it's gravedigging or spam, we let it go.

N. Reeki - December 1, 2008 10:30 PM (GMT)
Can we get this closed? Obviously it's been shot down as a suggestion.

Jacob - December 1, 2008 10:50 PM (GMT)
These people are taking time out of their lives to help these forums run smoothly, and they have run smoothly for more than a year. I think some people need to wipe the tears out of their eyes and grow up, and be thankful that things aren't as tough around here as they used to be. If there are anymore problems, take them up with me personally and I would be glad to help solve them.

Thread closed.
