Bumblebee still gets jipped on arms... and Prowl's vehicle mode is kinda weak.

Prime is cool though!

Roady, these are Legends, not Activators.

I thought Hasbro was going to discontinue Legends.

Activators are auto transforming figures like the first Basic wave of BW (The very first Primal was one) and the basics from Machine Wars. In fact, Ratchet's transformation is almost identical to Hubcap's and Hoist's from Machine Wars.

Legends (which is what these are) on the other hand are just some of the ugliest damn TFs I've ever seen. Their just big TFs scaled down to near Minicon size (about half an inch taller). Never saw the appeal for most of them.

No, their just under the Universe label now. At Botcon they showed off some G1 Legends which oddly looked cool for once.

The first Rattrap and Terrorsaur were also "Activators"(if that's right, I heard that the "Activators" were roll along with a simple popup transformation, the Movie figures have some, and are even lamer). Some of the RiD used recycled molds from Machine Wars as well. On the whole I didn't like this gimmic. I can see how it would be popular.

These however are indeed even labled as Legends. Which are anything BUT Legendary, but meh. They're about three inches tall, just bigger than Minicons, but not really bigger than a minicon gestalt, and usually made of cheaper plastic, with less detailing. The line actually started out as minimally posable statues with no transformation at all.

The idea behind them, I THINK, is that you're taking a well known figure/character and making them small and cheap, without reducing any of the fun. That's not always true, since it depends on what you consider fun about the figure. Personally I like the Legends figures, since they ARE cheap(about 2$ last I checked, though that might have been closeout prices).

Oh, and I think Prowls vehicle mode looks fine, considering the limitations(size, cheapness, and stylization of the robot mode). The arms might be a little obvious where they're at, but the Deluxe figure has them in the same place(on or about). It might not be the strongest Legends figure out there, but you're not going to manage a miracle with a transforming motorcycle at that scale.

Y'know. originally this post SAID Legends... then later on I got to thinking that these were just activators that someone mislabled (am glad I'm wrong)

For Legends they're not bad. But legends in general tend to be fugly and wonky, and push for larger TFs to have simpler transformations so that they can be translated down into these.

ACTIVATORs, which apparently these are not, are as JW% said. The first two lines of Beast Wars characters and the Machine Wars scout sized (called something else at the time) all shared the same gimmick of a simple flip transformation (usually there was a little more movement on some of them too) Actually, the gimmik was a great new thing when it came out, but they decided it was played out and killed it mid-Beast Wars.

I'm actually interested in the Activators, as i think it'll be cool to have mini-versions that hopefully don't suck of the main characters

They were called Basics. The 5$ price point. I still think in terms of "Basic, Deluxe, Mega, Ultra, Super" honestly, since that's what BeastWars used.

And they died out really after the first wave of BeastWars.

I'm not particularly interested in Activators, I'd rather collect the Legends(just wish they'd have a better name than "Legends").

Holy crab! I'll probably get the Bumblebee just because that thing looks really good for such a small toy!
