It is a sequel to this:
The Ark Volume 1The first one was not that impressive. 200 pages of B&W outlines of all the G1 characters as they appeared in the toy or animated format. (Many of these were colored and used for Marvel's 4-issue Transformers Universe back in 1986). I have seen this at my local comic shop, but refrained from purchasing because it is nothing I haven't seen before. There are a few novelties however such as showing different sketches where toy vs. toon design were different (i.e. Ironhide), or where a character was actually animated 2 different ways (Broadsides). They also have outlines for characters that never appeared in the cartoon, and some of the "variant" combinations for Gestalts that were never seen in the cartoon or comics either. It would probably be good as a reference for artists on how the characters can be drawn, but that's about it.
The 2nd volume however I DO intend to buy, simply because nothing like this has been made available in the U.S. before. It covers the designs from all the Japanese Animated series, and some of the Manga as well.

Excellent. I've been waiting for this one.
I love Vol 1.
Awesome, good pics of Super and Ultra Megatron, and a write up that will chap Raksha's arse! heh

Obviously I don't get what you mean exactly, as all I'm familar with is her rather passionate view on the mis-representation of the Decepticons (oh, and apparently being bonkers), so how would a write up on Super/Ultra Megatron "chap her arse'?

Have you also noticed we haven't seen any activity from her in a while?
Starshooter - July 10, 2008 11:46 AM (GMT)
I think she's moved on, so it is unlikely she'll care what's said in these or any other publications.

You mean her love affair with the Decepticon hierarchy is over?!

Raksha went around spreading misinformation that Super Megatron pulled Galvatron from the ice and destroyed him, in her efforts to convince everyone that Megatron and Galvatron were completely different characters in Japan. Since the Japanese series wasn't readily available, people believed her.
Later, when scans of "Battlestars" (as well as episodes of "Headmasters") became obtainable, her story was shown to be complete fabrication.
My statement was in reference to the write up that states that Dark Nova cured Galvatron's madness and upgraded him into Super Megatron.
It's nice to see that misinformation is finally being set aside, as for awhile, it permeated TF sites.

Picked this up yesterday along with volume 1 just for completeness sake. I wish they had more designs from the Manga series, but on plus side, they do show actual pictures of Violenjiger in all 3 forms, looks kind of like "alien", or a brood with wings. Also the first pics I've ever seen of Dark Nova & Star Giant. Also unused conept art for an older Chip Chase from Headmasters, would have been cool if they brought him in somehow. This has renewed my interest to find the TF manga series...... There are other genre's with a much less extensive fan base than Transformers that have had people translate Manga for them. I dont see why we cant have these series translated....

I was working on that very project, but my translator disappeared.
If you know anyone that is fluent in Japanese, I have a plethora of TF Manga to translate.
