| 'da hell is WOWIO? |
comics, most of them are good

More than Comics...
It's a site to download free books (and comics) in PDF format. Dependents, the comic I've been doing colors for, is available on Wowio (and we're nearing 200 downloads.. need 300 to get paper published!)
You can also download full books, from Literature classics to cookbooks. Graphic novels, comics, all sorts of fun stuff.
Previously it's been limited to US only.
I've put The Gods of Pagena by Lord Dunsany circa early 1900s on this old PDA I have so I can take it around and read it... I also download a bunch of Graphic novels and read em. They even have old pulp comics available in there.

Sweeet! I remember trying to download The Dependents and had problems. Is there a link to the site? www.wowio.com brings me to the coming soon page.

About time, it was rather cruel of you, showing us the goods, while us Canuck were not able to taste the meat... ;)
Roadbuster - July 30, 2008 07:05 PM (GMT)
heh... not my fault!! At least now you should be able to help support Dependents :doc:
Roadbuster - July 31, 2008 07:01 PM (GMT)
well... Wowio is now officially back up. The downside? No more/Less downloads for free (though you can still view the PDF of the full novel)
It also took away the queue feature

I apologize as I have not had a chance to fully explore the site yet, but do they have anything "mainstream"?? I know independent and classic literature are nice, but I just did a few basic searches and came up empty.

Closest they have to mainstream is Ninja Turtles at picks up were vol 4 left off before the CGI movie was released.

Yeah, this is mostly independent stuff, though there is a lot of classic literature, and there are regular books there too, just not any top sellers...
yet
You can request things and they will see if they can get them.
