Title: favorite video game
Curse Hawkwind - July 3, 2008 02:13 AM (GMT)
we all like games. some more than others. but do you have a favorite game or game series that stands out from all the others?
mine is a tie, between MGS, kingdom hearts and chrono trigger
GRIMLOCK24 - July 3, 2008 03:52 AM (GMT)
Ah, so many, Resident Evil, Xenosaga, Avatar: The Burning Earth, TMNT 4: Turtles In Time for the SNES, the list is endless.
Poop-Flinger Prime - July 3, 2008 12:07 PM (GMT)
what about this one?
Blades of Steel for 8bit NES

I am somewhat out of touch with games these days, but from the very beginning I always liked MegaMan (although I never got past MMX5). And more recently I have enjoyed the Super Robot Wars series from Banpresto Japan.

Has anyone played a game called Okami? I recently bought the wii version for my lil sis :)

Jackass Maximus - July 3, 2008 03:31 PM (GMT)
Chrono Trigger, no doubt.
Poop-Flinger Prime - July 3, 2008 05:01 PM (GMT)
Despite what

says, I think Secret of Mana was SLIGHTLY better than Chrono Trigger.
Jackass Maximus - July 3, 2008 05:17 PM (GMT)
Here's a question: Do you spend more time lurking on the boards, or doing pointless google image searches? No one cares what you think. You already told us what your favourite game is. STFU
Poop-Flinger Prime - July 3, 2008 05:21 PM (GMT)
but antagonizing you is way more fun then being silent. Please continue to amuse me :)
am I not allowed to have more than one favorite? I also liked secret of evermore, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, Master of Orion (first one) and a really old dos game called Silent Service II
PS: google image search = pwnage

I think my favorite Videogame is X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse. It's an X-Men fans wet dream. Unfortunately, I've only ever finished it once, because somehow, every time I try playing it again, I somehow loose the file. Once it was corrupted, once I saved a different game over the one I was working on, and most recently the game froze, and when I restarted the system, I went back in, and the entire file was gone. You read that correctly, somehow the file erased itself. On the bright side, I've finished Marvel: Ultimate Alliance twice, (once on normal difficulty, and then on hard difficulty, which is the first time I've ever played a game on it's highest difficulty setting!), and I am well on my way to finishing it a third time (playing it on easy difficulty this time, with my fully leveled up team from the last two games, and I'm skipping all of the side missions so I can get the crappy endings).
The best game I have ever played, is one that I just recently finished: God of War. Every single thing about that game is amazing. The graphics, the voice acting, the story, and the game play itself. It's challenging, but not so difficult that you get angry and give up. The combat in the game is down right awe inspiring. The first time i put the game in, and hit a couple of buttons to see how he attacks, I started freaking out because the main character Kratos was so powerful, and those were just his beginning moves! The best thing about the game though, is the fact that no matter how quickly you hit the buttons, no matter how many buttons you hit before or after the correct sequence, if you hit the buttons to perform a specific combo, Kratos will perform the move, period. Not only that, but the combos are effective and produce very different, and very worth while, results. If you have not played this game before, you must. If you love Greek Mythology, you must play this game. If you hate Greek Mythology, you must play this game. It's that damn good.
There are many many other games that I love, but I think those two take the spotlight. However, one should not pass up the Kingdom Hearts series. I think that's the only game where I actually get scared going into a boss fight, God of War included in that statement.

I've played the fist Xmen: Legends and keep meaning to get the second. The first was amusing enough. Ultimate Alliance I've played through a large chunk when I rented it once. Though, it too is amusing.
God of War I agree on, that was a really, really good action game. I played through it on med difficulty, and went through about half again on Hard... then got sidetracked.
I also got God of War 2, which is still good, but not AS good imo. More weapons though! Ran through it once on medium.
Megatron - July 3, 2008 06:27 PM (GMT)
I actually played both Rise of Apocalypse and Ultimate Alliance before I played the first X-Men Legends, and when I finally got it, it sucked. While I kick unparalleled amounts of ass in RoA and UA, I was constantly getting killed, and I wasn't getting a steady enough supply of money to revive the team, and there were hardly any health packs in the whole damn thing, though that may have been due to how frequently I had to use them. Then there were ridiculous amounts of enemies that were "resistant to physical damage", so all I could do to hurt them was to cast lightning powers on them with Storm, and I swear I had to cast the same power at least half a dozen times just to kill one lone enemy. That game pissed me off and I've never gone past the New York Sewers, which I think is only the second or third set of levels, if even that. No, RoA and UA are far superior games IMO.
I'd love to p-lay God of War II, but there is one thing holding me back: God of War III. It will only be available on the PS3, and I don't exactly have $400-$500 sitting around. I've read the plot for GoW2, and with the massive cliffhanger ending, I know I'll want to finish the story. So, since it came to a good conclusion on it's own, I think I'll stick with the first one, until I feel like I can afford to buy a PS3 and finish the series.

ok, you win. I'm out. have fun being the new resident me.
Poop-Flinger Prime - July 4, 2008 12:06 PM (GMT)
We can't forget The Wing Commander Series. most of them were enjoyable, even if the movie was a steaming pile of waste product.
Firefly - July 4, 2008 01:38 PM (GMT)
Final Fantasy XI online...although I consider it more my hobby than just a game.
Mako Crab - July 4, 2008 02:44 PM (GMT)
So many, really, but I'll try to narrow it down.
Katamari Damacy: roll a ball around, pick up stuff, make the ball bigger, pick up bigger stuff. Repeat. Insanely addictive.
Megaman 1 and 2: The first two games ever in this long-running series. No matter what the new stuff throws out, these two will always be the best in my book.

that was the most horrid MMO ever created.
PS: I played Dark Age of Camelot before WoW hahaha
Firefly - July 4, 2008 04:15 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I guess if you're looking for quick and easy, then WoW would be the game for you. You are full of the stuff you fling if you think FFXI is the most horrid mmo ever created. I imagine it's gotta be the most involved and detailed one. It must've been too difficult for you.
Poop-Flinger Prime - July 4, 2008 04:38 PM (GMT)
lol not too difficult just really boring. natural ADD here :P I played it for about a month. Eve online lasted about 4 months for me, I am getting tired of WoW also.

And with that statement you have accesnded in coolness beyond others in my eyes.
I loved the Xenosaga series; 3 was the best. while I often say that #2 broke my heart.
I LOVE the Klonoa series (Door to Phantommille-PS1, Luncita's Veil-PS2, Empire of Dreams and Dream Chamo Tournament-both GBA)
Robot Alchemic Drive
Elite Beat Agents
Metoes
Resident Evil 3:Nemesis
Any Zelda game (Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link not withstanding)
I also have this habit of liking games a lot of people think suck. As with my fondness for P.N.03 and Shadow the Hedgehog.
And dispite having some "Classics" in my possesoin; I've never got very far in Final Fantasy VII and Xenogears.

Beat both part 1 and 2 on rental, so I could never really justify buying the game, but they were fun for killing a few hours. And I love that crazy half black, half white cat in part 2. :D
Daniel the Saint - July 4, 2008 11:36 PM (GMT)
Knights of the Old Republic 1 (Bastilla is a babe. Especially when evil).
Elder Scrolls whatever - Oblivion (and Shivering Isles the expansion is even better).
Sorus - July 5, 2008 01:45 AM (GMT)
Robot Alchemic Drive is cool. MMO wise it's EVE Online for me.
But lately, my addiction has been.. Dwarf Fortress.
Poop-Flinger Prime - July 5, 2008 02:17 AM (GMT)
Knights of The Old Republic II was pretty awesome also. I thoroughly enjoyed corrupting those around me and dragging them into the darkness with me :D
