This may be news to some, and not to others, but I thought it was still a good writeup:
Ten Popular Rumors
Icefang - July 12, 2008 07:41 PM (GMT)
The only one I didn't know was this one. Some of the rumors are so silly and the truth is such common knowledge that it seems silly to include them in the list. Cool link O. Supreme!

7. RUMOR: Metrotitan from "Zone" is a zombifed Metroplex.
FACT: Metrotitan got his name because he was created on Titan, a moon of Saturn. Additionally, his name is also supposed to pose a certain symmetry with his adversary Dai Atlas: Atlas from Greek mythology was a Titan. Metrotitan's team of underlings are a group of sentient Transformers that are quite powerful in their own right.
Needless to say, he's not supposed to be the same character as Metroplex, even though a variation of this rumor claims that Metrotitan was somehow mysteriously regrown out of one of Metroplex's zombified legs.

10. RUMOR: In Japan, "Car Robots" is a continuation of "Beast Wars Neo".
FACT: While Hasbro/Saban's "Robots in Disguise" dub references various bits from previous shows ("Alpha Trion", "Vehicons"), Takara's "Car Robots" version didn't have those references. And even though many fans speculate that Gigatron and his Destrongers might originally stem from from the Japanese G1 universe post-BW Neo, this has never been confirmed onscreen. As it stands, "Car Robots" is a standalone show with no ties to anything that came before or after it. |
Actually, and I might be a bit off base after reading Teletraan One Wikia, while CarRobots is not a DIRECT continuation of BeastWars Neo, with no direct referances save the Heinrad clock that starts the show off(which, in itself, should actually be proof of a DIS-continuity), I thought that the Japanese had gone to great efforts to make all shows one huge, convoluted, and multiple timeline including, continuity. This of course doesn't count the comics, but it would link Robots in Disguise as happening in the same universe(or perhaps multiverse if there's a timeline split) as BeastWars Neo.
Given that CarRobots takes place on Earth in a known time frame, while BeastWars Neo takes place in a space opera setting with a future time frame, one is certainly not the continuation of the other. That said, with the CarRobots Predacons(Destrongers rather than Destrons) meant to be time traveling terrorists, I would think that it's not impossible for them to be the post-BW Neo or even post-BWReborn Predacons attacking Earth, while the Autobots are contemporary Autobots and the events of Headmasters is taking place, leading up to 2010. None of this is confirmed on screen(I don't believe even the Predacons origins are mentioned on screen, though O-Parts carry with them an implication of Time Travel), but neither is it denied. Either way, CarRobots is a side story, and doesn't re-use any known characters, so is stand alone in it's own right.
Then again, UltraMan: Towards the Future is stand alone, referancing nothing that came before it. To my knowlege it's considered part of the grand UltraMan mythos, it's just seldom talked about.

The thing I believed about Japan's "Timeline" is that everything (EV-RY-THING) was shoehorned together after everything already was released, released with the intention of not being connected.
JW% - July 13, 2008 12:52 AM (GMT)
Correct. It wasn't INTENDED to go together, but they managed to mash it all together anyway. As a fan who likes to see things connected I can appreciate that. Maybe not believe it, but appreciate that they tried.
I'm wondering where Transformers Animated is fitting in Japan...

thats a was a good read. knew of some of them already but is nice to have for alot folks that don't know better. :HoD
BlackZarak - July 13, 2008 09:34 AM (GMT)
Nothing in-show connected Car Robots to BW, but there was a toy insert, I believe, that pointed to a connection.
I do like how they ambiguously point to a splinter faction of Transfans spread misinformation about Megatron/Galvatron. heh
Prisma Nova - July 14, 2008 03:44 AM (GMT)
And I thought FIR-RIB was bad, until that thing about Megatron not being Galvatron. Still, it is interesting to see that there are groups who believe that.
Interesting read, big O. :)

heehee... I had heard a few, but many I had not... or had heard and ignored.
