Saif Ali Khan hospitalised - Fine now
Saif Ali Khan was admitted to a hospital at Mumbai on Sunday evening after he felt unwell while rehearsing for Stardust awards ceremony.

He complained of chest pain following which he was immediately shifted to the ICU of Leelavati Hospital. An angiography was later conducted on him and doctors gave him a clean chit.

His sister Soha Ali Khan addressed the media late in the night and said that everything was fine with him and there were no reasons to worry. Director Vidhu Vinod Chopra, with whom Saif has just starred in 'Eklavya', also added that doctors had confirmed that he was out of danger and should be out of hospital in a couple of days.

Apart from mother Sharmila Tagore and girl friend Rosa, well wishers who arrived at the hospital were Rosa, Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Salman Khan, Govinda, Pradeep Sarkar, Subhash Ghai, Zayed Khan, Aishwarya Rai, Preity Zinta, Arbaaz Khan, Malaika Arora, Fardeen Khan, Amrita Arora, Farhan Akhtar, Sudhir Mishra, Bunty Walia and Ken Ghosh amongst others.

Apparently the 36 year old National Award winner actor hadn't slept for 3 consecutive nights due to his hectic schedule. He had returned from South Africa only a night back and was fatigued. Due to his sudden illness, he couldn't be on stage to collect his award for "Best Negative Character" for the film 'Omkara'.

Sharmila Tagore is the most relieved mother in the world right now. "He's absolutely fine. He had a chest pain. They took him to the hospital and did a series of tests. It turned out to be exhaustion. To be on the safer side he has been administered medicine. He'll be kept under medical care for a couple of days, one more day in the ICU unit. Yes, I'll be here in Mumbai for a while. In any case, I was planning to come to Mumbai to re-decorate Soha's place. So, I just had to come a few days earlier. Sunday night was very tense for us. We heard all kinds of rumours about Saif that he had a massive heart attack. But I didn't buy that initially. I was in touch with the doctors."

"Will I ask him to slow down? I don't think what happened to him had to do with over-work. For a man, it's very important to keep working. I've seen many people at my age languishing away for the lack of work. I don't want that to ever happen to him. Saif needs to work to his optimum. So no, I won't ask him to slow down. But I'll certainly ask him to stop smoking. Also, to exercise and follow a disciplined lifestyle. Beyond that, no one can predict these things."

"He had lots of visitors on Sunday night…all his colleagues from the awards function visited him when they heard about his hospitalization. How could they not come to visit him? They're all his colleagues. But yesterday there weren't that many visitors. …Saif is very happy. He has got a get-well card from Priyaranjan Das Munshi, Mr Yash Chopra has been calling up. This film industry is an emotional place. The hospital staff and the media have been very supportive. Yesterday when I asked media persons to keep my phone line free, they left my phone alone. Everyone has been supportive because what happened to Saif was so shocking. Thank God it's all clear for him."

Saw Saif in pain!

Two reporters witnessed Saif Ali Khan in pain from his heart attack on his way to a clinic in Juhu on Sunday night. The actor was rubbing his chest and shouting at the driver of his Toyota Lexus, the reporters said.


Preeti Jha said, "We were near Prithvi theatre when we saw Saif's Lexus coming towards us. We stopped to get a glimpse of him and he was in the front, rubbing his chest and shouting at the driver. We wondered why he was so agitated when the car passed."

Preeti said this was not the Saif she knew from her own reporting. "I've never seen him in this bad mood and in every interview I've done he's been charming."

"It was only later when I heard that he was in hospital for a heart attack that the penny dropped," she added.

Prarthana Behere, an entertainment reporter, was with Preeti. She said Saif was wearing what appeared to be a cream t-shirt. "I don't remember exactly, but it must be have around 8:15 PM when Preeti and I saw him in pain."

"Saif was trying to say something to his driver," she said, "and we could sense that something was wrong."

After the actor went to his personal physician, Dr Agarwal in Juhu, he was checked and sent off to Lilavati Hospital in Bandra by ambulance
