Dear all,
here's another piece from Jon...
enjoy and cheers
Eveline
Hello hello,
i am writing to you from an internet cafe in oxford street, London! Am
having a wonderful time here. I have never been to Europe before and
it's so different compared to back home in asia. I am spending almost
everyday in a different musuem. The sheer history of the buildings,
streets, paintings and statues really give me a whole new perspective
on things. Some of the collections in the musuems are so huge that I
can't finish them in a day. I had to go back more than once... one of
them even three times! I could not even be thorough despite going
repeatedly. the collections are really astounding. This is really an
eye opening trip for me. Truth be told, I did not even get to do all
that I wanted to do and see all I wanted to se, both because of budget
and time constraints.
For those of you who know a bit about me would know that I am
interested in almost all genres of music, but I have a huge soft spot
for metal, rock, musicals, jazz and classical. i managed to catch many
good gigs while I was here, both in mosh pits, barstools, arenas,
stalls and circle seats. I saw some of the best concerts, sat in the
oldest of theatres and stood in amongst monstrous crowds. I was also
very fortunate to have met some of my heroes in music in person. It
has been an inspirational trip so far. It's something I should have
done earlier, but then again, I did not dare leave the country. I
wanted to get enough work done in order to "deserve" my break. Glad I
finally did though, I'm really recharging myself by taking in so much
creativity around me. The arts scene here is marvelous. I've tried
foods I've never eaten, a drink I've always thought about, bought a
graphic novel that was out of print for the longest time. It's been
great.
I hope all of you are well. actually bumped into some Singaporeans
here who were friendly and exchanged words briefly with me despite
being in such crowded situations. I even bumped into a production crew
doing something of a travelogue for local tv. Small world. This
weekend I have a fully packed rock and roll weekend. Catching some of
my very favourite bands and stuff that never happens back home. It's
too edgy for our tiny, busy population. That being said, I know I will
come back with renewed energy. My mind has been so full of ideas that
my notebook that I brought along with me is almost full now. Gotta
go...
See ya!
Jon.
seemed like life's fun over there!
Good good. ;)

A BIG "WOW!"
I'm so envious! just wish I could have such a holiday too! and would be great to have you for company...heehee
Really so sweet & thoughtful of you to write to us while you're 1000s of miles away!
Guess u cld be back home by now... hope to see you soon!
With what you’ve described, I personally hope you’re a picture-taking type and did make full use of your camera to capture the arty & picturesque sights and of course the bands & musicians you've met. If you did, share oh please share with us!
Just had a wishful thought – if you do have pictures, make them into a movie slide show. With your artistic & music background and perhaps with a little help from some IT-savvy friend of yours, I'm sure it'll be a great mini-movie production. Then show it to us in our next gathering… simply mind tingling just to think about this possibility!
Would love to hear more of your experiences! Do share with us again if you can. Believe from this experiences esp. with the music encounters, it gives you new found inspiration and development for your songwriting & music. We look forward to that!
Thanks again for your sharing!
Hi Jon,
Believe you should be back home by now. Its nice of you to have us on your mind even when you were travelling.
Hope you can share with us all your exciting experiences when we next meet.
All the best! Keep the faith smitten
