Title: Is Jon a wasted talent now?

Is Jon a wasted talent now?

Currently seems like not much happening and meantime while waiting to go back to Uni next year January, he has been appearing in local gigs. Some people think might be wasting his talent? He has been deemed to be the arena kind of guy, and be singing in concerts? Well after the recent Hype Up concert, for those that have attended, I am sure you have seen and witness his capability, also his strength in appealing to his audience.

We all hope to see Jon performs more in concert, launches of his album, sing his own songs, I am sure that is his dream too. But all these takes a lot of hard work. And timing is also an important factor too. So doing what he is doing right now, I think it is all good for Jon. Though they are just small gigs but these exposures, public appearances are all beneficial for Jon and also as learning experiences. Every singer or actor out there in this world all has to start basic somewhere. And don't we all started somewhere too? We started in nursery didn't we? :D

Remember the interview with Ken Lim; he said that “Quality and excellence should not be compromised. Singaporean does not spend sufficient time thinking about details and quality. Quality is not something you can get by fluke. Quality is the result of commitment, diligence, and skilful execution. Singaporean lives their lives trying to reach their goals, but they’ve forgotten their purpose. The goals are not important, it’s the process. If you want to be a good artiste, you must enjoy the process of becoming an artiste.” How do I achieve my goals in the shortest way? Well, there isn’t. Hard work is its own reward, agree?

Is Jon a wasted talent now? Not at all, Jon is in the process of making to be a Regional Star!

So let’s us all continue to give our support and be there for Jon whenever possible and I think we have been doing great so far! So well done all you Jonatics, you know who you are.
;)

Your comments are always delightful to read. Noticed too, that you were a frequent contributor to Jon's blogs (I have only just begun to read them). It is precisely because of his great performance at the Hype Up concert that I feel they could be more selective of the kind of events he be in.

Jon is indeed very fortunate to have a bunch of fans like you guys. Hats off....! I am not much of a PA-activity type, but will support in other ways.

well said well said!

it definitely takes time to "groom" a talent. meanwhile, these small-scaled events are good for letting people know that Jon is not "gone" after SI2. furthermore, people can also see that he is not a flash in the pan & possess definite talent.
therefore in the meantime, we Jonatics gotta show them that we support real talent and of course, bring Jon further in the future! ;D

agnesleong - November 5, 2006 03:27 PM (GMT)
So well said...yes totally agree with Jules.

Jon is a 'New' star...he need time to broom as a 'Regional Star'...
Performing in the outdoor events...definitely will help him...
no matter sing infront of a small crowd with a few audiences or a big crowd...
he have to sing with his heart...and prepare himself to go
further and overcome the obstacle during his entertainment career.

Jon...will support you all the way!

carolinewr - November 5, 2006 03:32 PM (GMT)

It's not the crowd size but the type of crowd.

That's what I mean by selective, and perhaps not "wasted" but "wasting". He already has a core goup of very loyal supporters - there must be new converts to raise his popularity. Singing to people who do not (know how) to appreciate will not help.

But I will not argue against the experience he will gain, for him to bloom.

I personally think it is ok for him to be exposed in all kinds of gigs sans the slizzy ones. In fact, these kind of family events is a good choice because more people from different walks of life can be introduced to Jon's singing, not just the "regular" audience.

In fact, Jon should grab every single opportunity by the horns and put in as much effort as he can into performing, regardless of the size and type of stage.

KaiLeng - November 6, 2006 04:13 AM (GMT)
i'm happy just to see him for any events...

but i'll be best if i can see him going solofor events:)

Crystal - November 6, 2006 02:50 PM (GMT)
All these appearances may seem unimportant, or worse, maybe even low-class for some..

but you must remember, these are just trainings for him..
for him to get used to crowds, for him to get used to different environments..

all these will allow him to perform even better for us in future when his album is finally out, and when he starts performing in his own show..

so dont condemn our dearest Jon dardar.. :)

Hi there Eclipse, thank you for your comments. Do value your input all the same. I believe there maybe other people who are having the same thoughts as you.

Feedbacks are important, reason being people care. So we should treasure feedback so that we could strive for improvement.

Well, whether the right type of crowd or not, it is hard to say. People would just have to listen and watch Jon performs. If they enjoy and appreciate his kind of music, people will support him naturally, and it could be any age group.

To have new fans, first of all need to have lots of exposure in all area, even to Heart Landers. So I think it is all good, and we will continue to support Jon Leong. There are so many reasons why we support Jon, so not going to list them all in here. We are definitely very proud of him being Singaporean and all. Just hope that Jon would not feel pressurize by us, as we have such high hopes on him.

Message to Jon: We hope you are not feeling pressurize, we do know you have your priority to accomplish and we are happy just the same attending small events and giving you our love and support.

In a sense our love is like a rose
That blooms into something beautiful
Yet unlike the rose, our love will never die

Will always be there for you…..wherever you will go ~~

jonslover - November 7, 2006 09:32 AM (GMT)
Yes. I will be supporting him as long as he sings and i will support him to sing till he dies.

Our love and support mean alot to him and give him greatest courage, i believe.

So dear all Jonatics, lets hold our hands tightly and never let go. The more we united, the more successful JON will be.

he is already a star!! :D
support him always!!

yan - November 10, 2006 04:01 AM (GMT)
hmm...well i personally think no talents will be wasted lah..i'm sure all these exposures will do him more good than harm.its a training ground-its never too much training but rather how well you learn from all these.and i'm sure JON realise this too.
let's look it this way-if he is not in demand, i dont think the organiser will even consider him.and let's trust artiste network to manage him well, i don think they want another sly under their care.
furthermore he'll be returning to sch, i guess he probably need to prepare for sch and all that.
don worry, the day will come when he will stage his own concert and by then there will be no more looking back.

jonslover - November 10, 2006 04:02 AM (GMT)
yes!

support him to stay in his success ALWAYS

XOXO
