Title: Mummies Jonatics
Description: Support Group for Mums
Agatha - November 15, 2006 08:09 AM (GMT)
Hi Mummy Jonatics
I have decided to start this Forum for all Mummies Jonatics. I know there are quite a few Mummies from the posts in the Forum i.e. Susie, Barney, Lynn, Anastasia, Yan etc.
This forum can also function as a Support Group for Mums (to keep their sanity) to express their support for Jon, air grouses & support for their own children - studies & interests, growing-up issues with their teens, their own career ........ the list goes on. BTW, I am also a working Mum (24/7 type of Mum).
It was actually my daughter who first noticed Jon from the Idol wannabes during the auditions & Piano Show. She found him to be such a cool dude and got interested - who's this good-looker, single eyelid guy with the deep & rich voice? After watching Jon in a few Idol spectaculars, I found he had a very unique voice & performing style and lots of charisma and slowly got "hooked on him". So now both mother & daughter are fans of Jonathan.
Recently two guys who are interested in my daughter tried to find out from her which guy she actually preferred. She told them she liked neither, her reply : "I only like my Idol, Jonathan Leong!" (lol ......)

Hi Agatha..
So you are a mummy too & wow... I like your idea! Both my daughters are aged

Finally!! Thanks Agatha for starting this. I'm a mummy to a bouncy little boy of 21 months. I'm a huge fan!! Went for the SI Result Show with DH (Dear Hubby) and we screamed our lungs out! DH also a fan of Jon! :)
Susie!!! Wow!! You rock!

Hi Agatha,
Thanks for started this thread... Well, I am a mommie of two boys ages 14 and 16... :)
I only started watching half way thru the season when I notice Jon sing "Unforgettable" .. then made it a point to be home early to watch.. and vote for Jonathan.
By God's grace, my boss pass me tickets for the Results show at the indoor stadium, I was elated!! :P Though he did not win.. in my heart.. Jonathan was Singapore idol and will always be a winner!!
Then the Jonathan withdrawal syndrome started.. I started searching the youtube and the singapore idol forum..and found this site.
Initially I figured the most of you would be very young.. maybe under 18 and was too shy to post on the forum.
But once again, by God's grace,.. I went to PAYM concert alone,.. and found myself sitting next to April and the Jonatics.. and all of them warmly welcomed me to the family.. and the rest is history...
Let's rally our support.. and see that Jonathan's dream comes true.. to not just have one album and disappear.. but be groomed to be a REGIONAL star!! And what we need is to believe in him.. and pray for his sucess!! :)

Hi, wanted to say me , too, am a mummy. Someone went by my desk, and I just got to get out. :P Was very conscious initially, thinking that all the fans here are young hot babes. Never been to any roadshows or events. Only saw Jon sang during finals, and thought, this one has potentials. Now play catching up with Mobtv.
agnesleong - November 15, 2006 03:35 PM (GMT)
Agatha...thanks for starting a thread for Mummies Jonatics.
Hello to all wonderful mummies...included me lah.
Glad to know there are so many mummies supporting Jon!
For me...first noticed Jon in a very simple reason...as he bear the same
sirname with me...but after watched him perform week after week...
love his singing and the emotion he puts in his song...
his singing touches me.
I'm a working mummy with a son age 11...talked about my son...
oh...he eats a lot...at his age of 11 weight around 70kg...
maybe heavier than Jon...hahaha.
Wonder what I can do that can stop him...over eating???
Btw my son is a Big fan of Jon...he follow me to the roadshow and Jon's performances...to give his support to Jon!
Jon's singing attracted to male 'Young' fan too.
Lynn - November 16, 2006 01:32 AM (GMT)
Hi Agatha, susie, Anastasia, agnesleong & all mummies!
Yes another mummy here. :P
I'm not one of those working, tech-savy mum...I'm aunty from the old economy!
Supporting Jon, I slowly learnt how to use the pc to get updates about him in the SI blog & then this forum (thanks to Jules!)
Envy some of you whose children are also Jonatics. My son is interested only in pc games but he thinks Jon sings well & likes his Wei Yi.
Wow susie your daughters aged 21 & 23 how lucky!!
Maybe one day we should sit down & chat over coffee...
Agatha - November 16, 2006 07:12 AM (GMT)
A very warm welcome to all Mummies Jonatics who have responded to tis thread-Forum - Susie, Anastasia, Jonrox, Eclipse, Agnes .... a big thank U for taking the time to write back and for all who have not written, U are most welcome to pen any thoughts U may have, so keep those mails coming in!
Anyway, for Mums like ourselves, we always want the best for our child/children and it's wonderful to know that Jon has supportive parents (who believe in him & his passion for a singing/music career). I believe he will be really successful one day and do Singapore proud.
I am allowing my daughter (who is 12) to pursue her interests (dance & fashion currently and maybe singing later, she is starting to sing Jon's songs. Her favourite - Chasing Cars & Should I Stay) and will let her go where her heart & mind dictate. "One needs to have a passion in your chosen field and be really good at it" (nevermind which field U have chosen). So not really necessary to be doctors, lawyers, bankers (but with no passion) to have been considered at having succeeded in life. (I sound sooooooo profound, right!)
Lynn - November 16, 2006 07:33 AM (GMT)
Agatha, you just sounded like a very loving, understanding & open-minded mother! Wonderful! :P

Barney - November 18, 2006 07:44 AM (GMT)
Dear Mummies and young Jonatics,
I always feel good to come to this forum to read updates on Jon and anything that is posted - they are all so 'real' and pleasant.
A bit of introduction about myself:
I am a working mother of 2 young children - my son is 6 yrs old and my daughter is 4 yrs old. I am very much a 24x7 mother and all weekends are spend with my children since we dont see alot of each other on weekdays as I have to work and they attend full day school. I try to spend as much time as I can with my children while they are growing up so our bonding will be strong and they can talk to me on anything (relationship problem and etc) when they are older.
When I rooted on Jon:
I have never been a SI fan..never seen SI1 and SI2 only the last few shows - was curious to watch after hearing alot of comments from FD and Glenn in Class95. I was interested to see Joakim at that time....when I turned on the T.V...I forgot about Joakim and Jon caught my attention - the way he sings (he emoted the song so well), his stage performance and his physical appearances captivated me! I was like 'WOW' this guy is so GOOD. From there on, I would make sure I dont miss any of the show. My husband would record for me if we cant watch it on time. I watched the last 4 shows...then went to YouTube to catch up the other shows we missed. I saw the audtion which Jon sang 'Quando Quando'...he looks so cute and shy  Then, the Piano Show..Jon is so charismatic - the way he bow and said 'thank you' when the judges praised him...Jon brings different style every week and his performances are so captivating - very different from the rest of the contestants...I saw Jon's blog in SI and the pictures he posted are so unique - very different from the rest - he does not just post pictures abt him or his friends..he posted pictures on animals and it really touches me and make me want to support him even more - I loves animals too. So, besides having talent and looks, Jon has a beautiful heart - what a rare gem we have! We all want to raise our children like Jon (:
After seeing Jon in person today at Toa Payoh Hub (he is so awesome), we dont need another Korean star anymore! His recording company (when he decides which one he will go with) and his artiste management company (if any) have to bring him to regional market - I am confident that Jon is going to be very successful.
Lastly, I feel bad for not being able to participate in Jonatics activities and be active members like the other mummies (Yan, Angela, Susie, Lynn and etc) as my work and family committment have taken much of my time...I dont have a helper these days so I have to do all the housework and it takes up quite abit of my time. For now, I will do my part as a loyal Jon's supporter by buying his album when available and buying mag that has Jon (waiting anxiously for Dec Style mag now). Hopefully this will boost the sales as sales nos is very impt and one of the method to measure the success of the artiste/singer.
Take care and enjoy yourself in the upcoming events that Jon will be appearing...I will definitely tune in to the variety show this Nov 28 and Dec 24.
Bye for now....
jocex - November 18, 2006 07:57 AM (GMT)

Eclipse - November 18, 2006 08:05 AM (GMT)
A really lengthy post. Perhaps we should ask his parents for their secret is his good upbringing. He is like every mummy's dream son.
I read his blogs - reflects a deep thinking person. I believed he did literature - do encourage your children to do that subject, good for developing critical thinking skills. I "forced" mine to take the subject although they were science students. :)
Lynn - November 18, 2006 09:04 AM (GMT)

Dear Barney, Lynn and all other mummies,
Welcome to JOn's Mummies Club. So happy to know more of you talking abt yourselves and declaring your support for JOn. Thanks for sharing.
I am so glad my children have grown more independant and don't need me to be around most times.
For the moment, I can dictate my time and try to support JOn whenever he performs.
Must confess..I am really "hooked" and have blocked all days he is performing.
Hope to meet you all soon..yah!
Luv you mummies and all JOnatics.
Hope to meet you all soon..yah!
Take care.

Hi Mummies Jonatics..
I'm gonna be there tomorrow and the next day (20 & 21 Nov) with DH. Will be rushing down too.. Err... it's at Mediacorp itself right?? This is one of the many performances of Jon that I get to watch.. Anything on weekends are out for me too, as I'm also a working mom with no helper. Weekends are pre-booked with houseworks and quality time with the family.
Hope to see you guys there tomorrow!
sharonwong - November 20, 2006 12:18 AM (GMT)
Hey to all the mummies out there. I'm so glad and relief that I'm not the only one who is married with children and yet still get excited everything about Jon. All the events, sad to say, I usually give a miss 'cos it always clash with my school. This Friday my K2 children with will doing a graduation concert at UCC and my whole week is BURNNNN.
Hope you guys have a good time at Mediacorp.
Cheers to all the mummies... Mummies are the best!
Eclipse - November 20, 2006 12:20 AM (GMT)
If I see "power dressed" executive looking non-teenage ladies, I can safely assume them to be Jon's fans. Will feel safe to approach them.
Lynn - November 20, 2006 01:07 AM (GMT)
Wow KaiLeng, you play the trumpet! Cool!
Are you in the concert or marching band? or both?
I always enjoy performances by school bands.
Eclipse, I won't be able to make it this week at MCS :(
All you mummies have a great time!
jonrox - November 20, 2006 01:20 AM (GMT)
Hi Eclipse...
Fortunately, my job do not require me to "power dress". So later in the evening, I hope I can "blend" in with the younger fans with my casual work wear..
Think can pass uh??? :P
Anymore mummies going? I'm not sure if I can make it on time. Gotta go pick DH at Raffle Place at 6pm, then zoom down to MCS. If late, still can enter not uh? Whats the color theme??

Hey..I will not be surprised that there will be 'powered dress' mum supporting Jon cos' my husband told me the other day after meeting with his client (senior manager) and peer (also executive), they were having some 'small' talk and the topics went on to SI...the women all said they rooted on Jon and think Jon will be successful given his qualities. They all link 'Chasing Cars' to Jon!
