"Learning the ropes"

The past 2 weeks a lot of time has been spent on reflection and its been very rewarding. Things are put in perspective and I tried to look at things from out of the box. Sometimes we all get too caught up with the things happening in our lives that things seem a lot more serious than they really are. Its good to take some time and step out of the daily routine once in a while. Take a walk in a park, or go to the beach to get focussed. I did and It did me some good. It is only through self awareness that one can improve and improving in whatever we do is really important. Being stagnant is never good. They always say "the idle mind is the devil's workshop", I have to agree.

There has been a lot of talk about me in the tabloids and it does get rather trying on my end because when something "juicy" is printed. I get a barrage of phonecalls and everyone wants to know if the "news" true or what is my stand on things. Imagine having to answer the same questions every single time you meet somebody and you get the idea. Haha. On the plus side at least I am deemed "newsworthy" by the tabloids. I was doing some thinking and wondered why people believe tabloids (especially in Singapore) and I came to the conclusion that its because locally, the covers for tabloids are "posed" for, professional pictures are taken and there are "proper" interviews conducted. Therefore they seem highly credible. However, my interviews, quotes have been twisted out of context before(to be fair, not always though), and stories have been churned out of thin air on more than one occasion. So do take whatever you read with a pinch of salt yea? Don't believe everything you read. (if you guys are sharp enough you would be able to see how the tabloids orchestrate articles and times it in such a way that sales can go up. Kudos to their planning, actually. It was pretty well executed.) "Que sera, sera" I guess.

Did any of you manage to catch Casino royale? It was really good in my opinion. I went for the premiere and enjoyed the movie thoroughly, i like that there wasn't too much of the "out of this world" gadgets. It was grounded and believable, with a great plot and great directing. I ike the theme song too. When I was watching the starting credits I was listening to the song and I thought, "This guy really sounds like Chris cornell from audioslave, but the music does not sound like the band.." and then I saw that the theme was performed by Chris cornell sans the band. Love it when I get things like this right. Hahaha. The little thrills in life.

You may have read in the papers that I am one of the non paid ambassadors for motorola's RED campaign. I am really happy to be chosen for this campaign as its really for a great cause and the best part is its to no disadvantage to the consumer, it's a business plan that is sustainable and doesn't ride on the name of charity. My spare time has been squeezed with watching episodes of Frasier, a friend of mine was kind enough to lend me all her Frasier DVDs and I have watched all of them from season 1 to season 5. She has the complete series. Its really funny and witty, some episodes really crack me up. Did you know that the voice of sideshow bob in the simpsons is Kelsey Grammer? He speaks really well and did a real good job as Beast in x-men too. His personal life however, is quite tragic but that doesn't change the fact that he does great work. Oh, its getting late. I'd better turn in, I don't want to late for tomorrow's calltime.

makes me think of what i really want in life
like right now, my studies
been thinking alot lately cos im so stressed out in school
so much work to complete with so little time left
always thinking of an easy way out of it when i know there isnt cos nth comes for free !

looking at things in a different perspective and think out of the box
then maybe we'll know what we really want
i need to be so focussed on things that are impt rather than just complaining away

well after reading the letter, it really puts me deep in thought !
its time i do some reflection
need to stay focussed and not give up halfway, persevere !

and everything can turn out to be good or bad, it all depends on how we see it
like rumours, it can be a positive thing if we all look at it in a different angle

Jon, I am lost for words ... you wrote to us again !!! You must have read the forum and felt our yearning for you so much !!! My heart just goes all out for you, love everything about you ... even if you are sometimes kind of too serious and a perfectionist (you may get too stressed out) !!!

I wonder if you are for real ... for such a young man, you are really profound ... always concern about the world and encouraging us to improve ... you are our role model in everyway !!!

Anyway, I am not bothered by the rumours, be it true or not and like you say to take it with a pinch of salt. I trust you will know what's best ... you need your own private life too!

When I heard the news that a 2nd letter was posted .. I felt like a little girl .. excited and elated..
I am glad that this 2 weeks has been meaningful for you. Life is about winning and learning .. (not as some say winning or losing). In every situation we can grow, and make to choices to be bitter or better.

Gossips and rumours – spice of life. Happens all the time to the rich, famous, popular and the ordinary. To be newsworthy is a good thing, so long what is reported is not malicious, and not for the wrong reasons.

I saw the news on tv on 1st dec.
At first they were standing very far away from the camera, like in one of the picture, then I saw one of them who resembles Jon, so I was like OMG!

Then when they are signing on the thingey, I saw Jon signing too!
So I knew it's definitely jon!

Just got to read his 2nd letter, its so encouraging and warm. i have been feeling really down these few days because of my younger daughter's condition and seeing JON on the 7th and 9th and now his letter , cheer me up. i believe that in every situation/circumstances, all is not lost if we perservere and stay positive.
