Hi Jonatics, have a blessed Lunar New Year!

Eve, have a good time back in Jakarta!

See you all soon!

angelwee - February 16, 2007 10:09 AM (GMT)
No matter how, being Chinese, we will try to follow traditions, at least the simpler ones & needless to say "Ang Pow" is a must for the married ones to give & singles to receive. It is wonderful to be the receiver, dont you think so. (btw, may I have a word with the person who started the tradition of putting money in the red packet!!)

The Chinese also has very interesting idioms to usher in good fortune for the new year. I always marvel at the greetings that one of my dear colleages would utter to me on the eve of CNY. They are so meaningful & I, being not too good in my mandarin could only wish, a simple "Xin Nian Kuai Le‘" & one of the more important ones "Shen Ti Jian Kang" So this year, I made a list to practise (thks to my dear friend Sally) & to wish to all dear Jonatics & of course to our dearest Jon (with an attempt to include an English translation; oh please excuse me if it is not too accurate):-

学业进步 – Xue Ye Jin Bu (Progress in studies)

身体健康 – Shen Ti Jian Kang (Good health)

步步高升 – Bu Bu Gao Sheng (Steady progress career-wise)

帅气十足 – Shuai Qi Shi Zu (Stay cool & handsome)

青春永驻 – Qing Chun Yong Zhu (Youthful & beautiful always)

万事顺心 – Wan Shi Shun Xin (Smooth-going in everything)

新年快乐 – Xin Nian Kuai Le (Happy New Year)

Happy snacking but do watch the diet!

Have a Blessed Lunar New Year! My brother is back from Beijing to celebrate the Lunar New Year.

I have a closed-knitted family, we catch up with one another, chatting, watching movies, etc.etc. It is going to be fun!

Hope all of you will have fun too! Stay healthy!

A very Good Morning to all and wishing everyone a properous 'Oink Oink' year!

It's the time to forget about your waistline and eat, eat and eat! Bah kwa, pineapple tarts, love letters, melon seeds, prawn rolls yum yum yum. Me still woozy from celebrating too much last night, I was guzzling red wine like it was water *hic*. I hope you have a great time meeting up with relatives and friends, especially those that you see only once a year!

For those of you who do not celebrate CNY, must catch up on all your TV and sleep ok? There arent that many long weekends this year!

Hi all Jonatics :

Just dropping by to say hello.:-)

It has been quite some time since I wrote. Have been really, really tied up with work and studies. Like Jon, I have had so many assignments for the past month, and had my exams yesterday and today. Finally, I could have a moment to breathe today!!

Gong Xi Fa Cai to all !! Hope the Lunar New Year will bring all of you lots of good luck, good health and prosperity.

The week ahead is filled up to the brim. Hope all of you continue to enjoy your CNY celebrations. Take good care and keep smiling.

Best wishes from :
Mag
P.S. : Colleen, hope you're studying hard for your exams this year.
