In "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," Harry returns for his fifth year of study at Hogwarts and discovers that much of the wizarding community is in denial about the teenager's recent encounter with the evil Lord Voldemort, preferring to turn a blind eye to the news that Voldemort has returned.
Fearing that Hogwarts' venerable Headmaster, Albus Dumbledore, is lying about Voldemort's return in order to undermine his power and take his job, the Minister for Magic, Cornelius Fudge, appoints a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher to keep watch over Dumbledore and the Hogwarts students.
But Professor Dolores Umbridge's Ministry-approved course of defensive magic leaves the young wizards woefully unprepared to defend themselves against the dark forces threatening them and the entire wizarding community, so at the prompting of his friends Hermione and Ron, Harry takes matters into his own hands. Meeting secretly with a small group of students who name themselves "Dumbledore's Army," Harry teaches them how to defend themselves against the Dark Arts, preparing the courageous young wizards for the extraordinary battle that lies ahead.

wanted to get to get the tics on the opening night but the timing not so good... ah, i cant wait to watch it!
but i forgot some stuffs from the book.. hehe
hope it isnt fast moving like the 4th movie..
syari - July 14, 2007 02:17 PM (GMT)
i caught it on thurs ald. hahaha. diyana, don't worry, it isn't fast moving this time, in fact, i found it rather draggy. it's not as exciting as i had hoped it would be. but nonetheless, it was very entertaining. can't wait for the next one!
ps: daniel radcliffe is REALLY hairy!

Hmmm, think I still prefer the book, cos as all print-to-screen movies go, there are lotsa gaps here and there. But I do lurve the effects in this installment, especially the finale between Lord V and Dumbledor...nicely done. And Luna is such a hoot, although I feel that Rowling had projected her somewhat more loony-seeming in the book.
Syari, Daniel Radcliffe is really hairy? Where got???? I have it on first hand knowledge that he isnt leh, rofl. :P
syari - July 15, 2007 11:20 AM (GMT)
hahaha, yes april, well, at least in my opinion he's hairy. here's a pic:
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y231/ms_l...ldetailsmag.jpgand here's a pic of what emma watson thinks:
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y231/ms_l..._emmareacts.jpgi think i will quit sch if i have a teacher such as Luna. i surely wouldn't wanna have to share the pain of being written on, as much as i pity the paper. :(

Oooh, Syari. Such yummy photos of Radcliffe :P Thanks! Ok, the first pic he does seem a little hairy hor, as you've said. And the Emma photo is so hilarious, but that photo of him is kindda not what you expect him to look like cos his image in our heads is that of a clueless bespectacled boy. Haha. But then. after he performed in the adult play 'Equus', which was widely talked about, I don't think anyone is surprised at his image change anymore. Although when I watched it, the audience were all so hush during the parts where he went starkers, you could almost hear a pin drop. :P
syari - July 15, 2007 03:26 PM (GMT)
april, you're so hilarious. yes, the image i have of him is the innocent, goody-2-shoes kinda kid. hearing that he starred in Equus seems alittle wrong. who would have thought?
there are other pics but i guess it's alittle too inappropriate to put it here.

Luna is so pretty! i was taken aback, she wasn't described that way in the book. at least to me, she was supposed to look more slurry and more misty-eyed.
oh well! agree with April, i love the book more.
will be staying home on the 21st to wait for my book to arrive :D
April - July 16, 2007 02:08 PM (GMT)

Call me a Harry Potter Fanatic if you like! As at yesterday, I’ve watched the movie 3x already! And hope to watch it again if time permits. Watching it at the cinema makes a great difference! I like Evanna Lynch’s Luna…so pleasant (but quite unlike how she was described in the book). Notice Ginny started to glance more at Harry whenever he’s with Cho? Can’t wait to get hold of Book 7; didn’t order this time! I’m considering whether to join in the fun to queue at the bookstore at 7:01am on 21st July. Really really hope J K Rowling won’t make me sad with the ending!

I have the book in my hands now!!! Hot off the shelves! I thought I would have to claw my way through throngs of people on this highly-touted magical morning. When I got to the book store at 8.30am, I was even envisioning that there would be a mocking 'sold-out' sign on the glass doors.
Lo and behold! I was the only customer in the deathly silent store and ten thousand Harry Potter books still left unmolested. Mwahaha!
Sam's Mom - July 21, 2007 10:47 AM (GMT)
Whatever you do don't tell us the ending!
This Auntie has to wait till one of her nephews (with parents richer than I am), finishes the book, and then have to "borrow" from them.
One nephew, not so Auntie-friendly where Harry Potter books are concerned. What's the problem, finished reading, why can't you lend???
The other nephew is a sweetie, sure will lend, but quite slow in reading, so have to wait quite long. If I pull rank, I'm sure he'll let me read first, but not right lah.
Sigh, the joys & woes of Auntie-hood.

Ok. someone's just gone to wizarding heaven in the first 70 pages. And the leading up to it was just agonizing. I thought this was supposed to be a children's book? I do hope its one of those 'you-thought-he-died-but-he-didnt' thing.
*bawl*

Oh no! Sob :(
Don't tell me anything.
My imagination's painting a lot of different possible scenarios.
Oh no!
I was hoping that Dumbledore would rise like a Phoenix.

no worries, Bernie. no spoilers here! sure hope you've finished reading the book already!
i got mine few days back and its really worth the wait i guess. it's shipped from the US so its a different version from those in Sg. bigger fonts and the words don't seem so cramped. much easier to read!
sigh, so sad that it's the end to HP. ):
