If you believe that there is a field of consciousness which somehow connects the whole universe including ourselves in one seamless web through the unspoken language and appeals to our senses, what would it be?
It certainly does "makes me wonder" how oldies have managed to still hold listeners entrenched, a testament to how well they have stood the test of time.
While I have been amazed by how certain masterpieces can have such tremendous power to lull me into a state of surrealism, it is enticing to go on "the sweet escape" once in a while.
Whilst lyrically they do generate thought-evoking sentiments but none too provocative to warp the minds, as much as you want to "say it right", yet others bespoke of irony and portray a satirical notion of the world at large.
Then there are melodies which I simply "can't get it out of my head" (not that it is negative), alternatively there may be songs that "you want to make a memory".
Whichever they may be, it is worthy to pay homage to songs which can cause fans to lap up every note and lyric.
Whatever genres your favourite songs or albums embody, this is the place to list them down where the compositions may only be too glad to resonate "don't forget about us".
Whether the purpose may be to broaden our knowledge, convert us into music aficionados or critics, expressing why I cannot "be without you" to your favourite songs seem so appropriate.
There’s simply just too many great songs even if it’s to list out just favourites. Except for heavy-metal music, I listen to all genres & languages (not that I can speak any other languages well other than English; it’s just that MUSIC IS THE UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE). Just the right melody itself evokes feelings/sweet memories of emotions, romance or just music that makes you want to groove & move with the tune.
During each stage of our lives, there’s bound to be song(s) that somehow link to that stage of our life – from school days, to puppy love, to first love, romance, breakups and finally when we meet that person who is to share that important part of our lives. Ok, there’s more to life than just love, love, love.
Being the sentimental fool that I am, I listen alot to ballads. I’ll just mention what’s in my latest playlist (apart from Jonathan Leong’s and Wang Lee Hom’s which are my all-time favourites regardless of the songs they sing).
Shayne Ward’s 1st album. I love almost all the songs, my fav:
A BETTER MAN
Until the oceans all run dry
Until the stars fall from the sky
Even if words don’t seem too right
I will be addicted to your smile
And if the wind blows out the sun
I’ll still believe you are the one
No matter what we’re going
I’ll plan to spend my nights with you
I promise you my heart won’t fade
I swear to you my soul always
If isn’t hard to understand
You’re making me a better Man
Baby my love will say it all
I’ll always catch when you fall
And if the hard times get too much
I’ll still be craving for your touch
I promise you my heart won’t fade
I swear to you my soul always
It isn’t hard to understand
You’re making me
A better man
I dedicate my world
I dedicate my all
For every moment
You’re leaving me breathless
I dedicate my touch
Forever not enough
I wanna hold on
I just wanna hold on to you
I promise you my heart won’t fade
I swear to you my soul always
It isn’t hard to understand
You’re making me
A better man
It isn’t hard to understand
You’re making me a better man
A man dedicating these words to the woman whom he love is surely a humble, deserving man. Cause in real life, it’s hard to change any person. But if a woman can indeed change a man’s ways/thoughts/habits just by the little simplest things that she does, her patience & understanding, she deserves the love, the promise as made in this lyrics.
And there’s also one of the most meaningful songs “If We Hold on Together”.
(Thanks Mag for choosing that song during Jon’s B-Day bash.) It had been a long-while since I last listened to that song.
