Title: Jon's 11th newsletter
Description: September letter from Jon
eveline - September 28, 2007 10:02 AM (GMT)
Dear all...
are you waiting for this one..I bet, YES...:)
Enjoy..^_*
First of all i apologize for the late letter this month, i got kind of
caught up with daily life and kept putting typing off. Once again, i
hope this letter finds you in good spirits.
I can't say it enough that I am so glad that I am done with being in
school and going through classes, assignments and exams and balancing
moonlighting in the live music scene while meeting deadlines, and
dragging myself to class in the morning... it was insane...
The past few weeks have been spent at a recording studio, and also in
rehearsal rooms to prepare for the upcoming president's star charity
(which i hope my contributing item will help raise funds for the less
fortunate), I did some of my own research and snooping around to find
out that its all really for a good cause. So at least i don't have
doubts when I ask people to donate some of their hard earned dollars.
It feels good to be able to finally immerse myself into learning the
ropes of the music business, apart from time in the studios I have
also been trying to write material (though, to be honest, its moving
at a pace that I am not exactly happy with). I have been looking for
old musically inclined friends with whom I can collaborate with, its
always been some kind of a romantic notion that i will be able to find
a group of certain individuals which I can have a long working
relationship, song writers, producers, directors, management, whatever
it is. I think it will be great to have a sound that people will
recognize and enjoy because it comes from the same 'team'. A unique
sound of some sort.. anyway, i digress.
A friend of mine lent me a the first 2 seasons of 'family guy' and I
found it absolutely hilarious, a little bit mature, but funny
nonetheless. Although, 'The Simpsons' is a little more nostalgic for
me. Apart from watching some family guy, sopranos, I have taken some
time to read a manga series called 'bleach' through a recommendation
and i found it to be rather engaging. It's a huge plus point that its
in mandarin as well. Gives me extra mandarin exposure.
On another note, I have been looking through some of my old pictures
in my computer and I realise that I have so many pictures from old
movies that I enjoy, i even have a tiny collection of postcards I
bought at random over the years, they are all from movies that I
really adore, like the godfather trilogy, scarface, goodfellas,
sopranos, casino, donnie brasco, snatch, serpico (been hunting for
this dvd, but I can't seem to find it!), carlito's way... the list
goes on!! Hmm, if i get the chance of creating a music video, maybe I
can weave some of these influences into said video. I should bear this
in mind.. ok its getting late and I am starting to get a little
incoherent. I'd better turn in soon.
Lastly, I have a couple of projects coming up for the end of the year
so I will be keeping busy continuing to climb 'the ladder'. Stay
inspired and best wishes!
Jon

Thanks Eveline for posting Jon's letter for us.

Hi Jon,
Genki? You have no excuses for giving us a late letter! Well, on second thought you weren't late, you made it before end of September. Heh..just "messing" with you alittle. Thank you for remembering us.
Very happy to know that you have been well and enjoy what you are doing now, which is very important. I look forward to Sunday, besides learning and understanding Gods word, I enjoy the singing part too. After a long week of work, recharging yourself at the end of week is really important, not just physically, mentally as well. So, Sunday for me is basically Church and rest at home or just being alone, if not, the whole week just somehow not quite the same, does it make sense?
I do share the same passion as you. Movies, I love movies! Those old movies you have mentioned in your letterwell it seems you enjoyed mafia Italian mobs. I absolutely love them too, it is obvious that you admire A.Ps work. Agree those movies are not easy to find these days in DVD, out of those you've listed, I only owned all 3 godfather in DVD.
All the best on your upcoming projects! They are all lined up till end of the year? Thats great! Catch you this Sunday, looking forward to your performance. So you did some homework? Thats good to know, appreciate for letting us know. Stay in touch! Ganbatte ne!

SUCCESS TASTES REALLY SWEET
Every man strives to succeed in life
He works hard to make his dreams come true
But the reality is that not everyone achieves success too
Success is a like a game of chess
To achieve it you just cant rest
Success to some comes in effortless
And others it keeps them really anxious
Those who have a strong determination
For them working hard is one easy occupation
They toil until they reach their destination
Success brings in confidence and pride
All you have to do is to keep your spirits high
Hope and prayers makes an easy way
That is what most people say
So to achieve in life put in best efforts and simply strive
Try to keep your nerves under control
Be patient until your wish comes true
Definitely the way to success is not so easy
But to succeed in life you have to give in your best
And the day you achieve your goals
That very moment you realize...........success tastes really sweet.

Good performance at the PSC show - sounded very good. Mandarin no longer "ang-moh-ish".
I Jia you!

Wow, great to hear that you're learning your mandarin through comics, in addition to whatever other means you have now. Whoever recommended Bleach to you sure did a good job. Co-incidentally, I watched the Bleach cartoon itself on TV while out of the country, and it was strange watching anime in English! I plough through Chinese comics very very very slowly myself, quite laoya at reading in Chinese lah.
The going may be slow, but glad to hear you're 'climbing the ladder', slowly but surely. Stay inspired yourself too! :)
