Title: Jon's latest Mandarin song
Description: Stay tuned to FM93.3!
April - October 7, 2007 09:10 AM (GMT)
Wahaha. I finally caught Jon's latest Mandarin song on the FM93.3 today at abt 5pm!
Have any of you guys heard it yet? It''s a specially recorded medley of songs from our local Chinese dramas from the last 25 years. Brings you down memory lane!
If you havent heard it, stay tuned to FM93.3. It only plays there! :)
Hey, you can make a song dedication for this on the station if you wanna hear it played more often. In that way, more people will get to hear it too! The title of the song is ÇéÇ£25 and in case you dunno yet, Jon's chinese name is Á»Î°¿ó.
carolinewr - October 7, 2007 01:21 PM (GMT)
wow.. havent heard the song yet..
must stick to 933 now :D
KaiLeng - October 7, 2007 01:37 PM (GMT)
thanks..
will try to stay tune :)
Eclipse - October 7, 2007 01:44 PM (GMT)
Which drama theme song did he sing? I do not tune into 933. Pity.
April - October 7, 2007 01:55 PM (GMT)
Well, if you're someone perpetually on the comp, you can try the streaming internet radio for FM93.3. They display the song title and artiste that's being aired at the moment. Very often, they also show the next song or 2 that's gonna be played, so that you can pre-empt what's coming up. The internet radio usually lags behind the live radio by a couple of minutes.
A couple of you already said you cannot understand a single mandarin word to know what's going on on radio. Think the song will be out in some album end of this month. The coverage for this song should hopefully be higher then :P
If you're not paying attention, you'd actually miss it! Cos to me, it kindda doesnt sound like the Jon we're used to listening to. Haha.
Eclipse, it was a medley of songs from some of the most popular singapore chinese drama serials from the last 25 yrs.

Hey Nandar,
Great to see you here.
The song is QING QIAN 25 by Liang Wei Kuang. Yes, yes, pls do request for it on radio. Would be nice if the public hears it more often!
Jon will be appearing at Suntec this coming weekend. Check out the other thread for more details! Hope you can join :)
diyanahomie - October 8, 2007 12:09 PM (GMT)

thanks for the news April!
KaiLeng - October 16, 2007 01:25 AM (GMT)
haha. finally get to hear the song on air yesterday during mid night near 1am
sounded real nice :)
Eclipse - October 17, 2007 02:03 AM (GMT)
Got to hear the song after several misses - a commendable effort indeed. It must have been really challenging to sing to a medley of different tunes. Although the kopi-O flavor could have been stronger, JonLeong belongs to the generation of coffee latte, which makes him 10 years too young to have gone through the bitter-sweet experience of that generation.
April - October 17, 2007 05:44 AM (GMT)
Eclipse, dunno if you went to the HD5 event, but the live singing was way more emotionally engaging than the recorded one. Think in the time between the recording and the performances, he managed to inject something 'more' into the medley.
Tanat - October 17, 2007 08:17 AM (GMT)
Jon sang this song live for the first time at the HD event at Suntec Convention Center... for both Sat and Sun I believe. Most of the songs in the medley I cant figure out... though I must say that its a very big accomplishment for Jon to be chosen to sing this song among the other local singers.
Eclipse - October 17, 2007 09:31 AM (GMT)
Is it because he is also 25? No matter, it is still a big compliment.

In introducing the new compilation of drama theme songs, I have been hearing DJs at 933 saying something like " һĻϾ«Õ¿µÄÑݼ¼£¬Ò»Ê×Ê×ÊìϤµÄÐýÂÉ£¬hype records Óëд«Ã½Í¨¹ý933³ÏÒâÍƼöÓÉмÓÆÂżÏñÑǾüjonathan leong, ÁºÎ°¿ó³õ´ÎÌäÉù£¬ÎÂܰ¼ÍÄÇéÇ£25". Looks like he is getting quite a bit of publicity for his first Chinese single. Btw, they air it frequently throughout the day since 2 days ago :)
Eclipse - November 22, 2007 04:30 PM (GMT)
Pity, I don't tune into the Chinese airwaves, but glad that he is given so much publicity - only his track is singled out for replay. Is this a collaboration between Hype and Ch 8? Does it mean to say his singing contract is signed with Hype? Wondering aloud.
KaiLeng - November 23, 2007 03:04 AM (GMT)
erm.. i'm wondering too :)
haha. anything la.. so long as he got a recording contract :)
JonFan - November 24, 2007 05:53 AM (GMT)
What a pleasant surprise! I was at Popular Tampines when I saw the CD plus, a large cardboard cut-out of Jonathan Leong! Go take a look.
And also, the CD is no. 2 on the charts. Just after Jay Chou, no less.
Lynn - November 25, 2007 05:59 AM (GMT)
Also wondering whether Jon will appear in the coming Star Awards show
I hope he gets more exposure...TV is a great help.
Aiyoh hope Hype is doing something... rolleyes:
louisa - November 26, 2007 02:20 PM (GMT)
Hope he will be in star awards. Then i can go to the event! Haha.

It was taken from this picture...

Hey, had mentioned about helping Qing qian 25 climb the charts etc. on the thread about the bookfest event. But thought that discussion is more appropriate here, so here is the info again!Wanna help Jon gain more air time for his new Mandarin single? Do help to request for it more often on FM93.3 so that more people can hear it!
Also, let's help Qing Qian 25 climb the Pick of The Pops (Long Hu Bang) charts on FM93.3. You can do it in the following ways:
1) voting slips from I-weekly (40%)
2) SMS POTP933<space>Qing Qian 25 to 72346 (30 cents each) (30%)
3) Phone vote @ 1900 912 0933 (20 cents each) (20%)
4) Visual radio (10%)
FM93.3 enforces a one vote per person per week policy. Not sure how they keep track. All we need is just one vote per person per week! Of course will be great if you can get the people around you to pitch in. Elle has helped us check that they tally the weekly votes each Thurs at 12 noon.
Apparently the weightage of votes from the I-weekly voting slips are the most significant, but not all of us will buy that mag just to vote. Sms will do fine! We'll be getting hold of some voting slips, so will let you guys know when we have it, so that you can get hold of it if you want.
Think that at the fledgling stage of Jon's career, let's do what we can to get him started. So don't forget to support by 1) requesting for his song and 2) voting for his song on the popularity charts!
You can get more info on how to request for songs and vote for songs at:
http://www.yes933.sg/

Ok people it's time to vote again! wink1 it's been awhile...

Hey all, tune in to to FM93.3 this Tuesday 11 Dec 9.30pm to 10pm to hear Jon live on the airwaves. Pass the news around!
April - December 11, 2007 03:50 PM (GMT)
Anyone wanna share what went on at the interview? Didn't manage to catch it cos had something on then :(
Eclipse - December 12, 2007 04:25 AM (GMT)
I tuned in about 5 minutes after 9.30pm, the program has already started. I heard snippets of the whole show as I was distracted by the telly.
JL sounded very good on air. His Mandarin has improved so much that DJ Jia Fa was impressed he understood the meaning of "tiao ti" ÌôÌÞ. No more the ang moh accent. He talked about his experience in recording his first Mandarin single, the affinity he felt with some of the songs. DJ Jia Fa said before they disclosed who the singer of Qing Qian 25 was, those who heard the song thought it was the voice of Eason Chan.
At one stage, DJ Jia Fa teased him about his good looks, low voice, small eyes that melt many a lady's heart. As usual he responded modestly to these compliments. He mentioned that 'Mr. Lim" thought he sounded better singing in Mandarin than in English. He spends most of his time in the office, polishing up on his guitar strumming skills (he bought a new guitar some 4 months back), and learning how to write his own songs.
When asked what he will be doing for Christmas, he said he will be spending time with his family. DJ Jia Fa called him a "mummy's boy" in which he vehemently denied. He said he is actually very "man", likes sports and adventures.
Oh, he found a "lost" dog some days back, and went door to door in the vicinity where he found the dog, to try to find its owner. He managed, after a day's search, and nope, nobody knew who he was. That lucky dog spent a night at his home.
I think that is the gist of the whole show. Of course, his song was aired, and he chose another sung by Rui En (whom he respectfully referred to as "wo jia shi jie" ÎÒ¼Òʦ½ã) to end the show. His wish is to release his album in 2008 in which DJ Jia Fa added that that is his new year wish for him as well.
Forgot, he admitted to not yet having a GF
He reminded listeners that he will be perfoming at the Bookfest @ Singapore event at Suntec Convention Hall 401-404 on 22/12 (Sat). He will be singing a few songs, so pelase do go and support him if you can.

I did a recording on my computer, but can't play it back. His Mandarin is really quite good. If he does not sing, he can be a DJ. :D
