Title: Bookfest event

louisa - November 21, 2007 02:51 PM (GMT)
Hey guys, tanat just msg me that jon will be one of the guest stars performing at suntec convention centre somewhere between 14 dec to 23 dec as part of bookfest. Any news on that? Taufik and oli will be there too.

Tanat - November 22, 2007 12:38 AM (GMT)
Ha, I didnt know u would already create a thread on Bookfest before me... :P
I read from the Popclub magazine (exclusive for POPULAR card members) that there will be a Bookfast at Suntec International Convention & Exhibition Centre from the 14th to 23rd of December.

This info I found on page 26 of the magazine...
MEET THE IDOLS
From humble beginnings to limelight stardom... the three of them have been on the same stage, survived the judges' snide comments, passed national scrutiny and sang their way through to our hearts. Performing live at the Bookfest, homegrown Idols Taufik Batisah, Olinda Cho and Jonathan Leong will be bringing to you songs from their latest albums.

Thanks so much for the info, April!! Seems like I gotta put a red circle on that date... it's an event I CANNOT afford to miss out on! :P
Ever since the roadshow at Chinatown Point last yr, I realised that I'm starting to 'go crazier' over Jon... and you're hearing this from someone who started as a big fan of Jasmine Tye

KaiLeng - December 2, 2007 02:11 AM (GMT)
huh?!?

saturday! haha..gotta take mc liao lo.. :P

i wanna be there! haha.

April - December 4, 2007 12:36 PM (GMT)
If you wanna get into the autograph queue, you gotta have a copy of the Qing Qian 25 album! There's apparently no quota to the number of people who can queue for the autograph, but you just gotta have the album in your hand. If you haven't got your album yet, go grab at CD-Rama, and remind all your family and friends to come on down that day to show their support.

On a another note, let's help get more air time for Jon's first Mandarin single yah? Would be great if we can help get it up the charts. How to do this? Dedicate this song like crazy on FM93.3. If we all pitch in, I'm sure we can get Jon heard more often and get more notice from other people too!

In addition, let's get started on voting for Jon on the FM93.3 charts as well. I'm sure we all want to see him climb the charts.

I really wish to, April.. But i can neither speak nor understand Mandrin so cant help.. :( **so sad**

However there are always ways if u really wish to ,, right?? ;)

I am trying to get JON's song on 987FM which i use to tune on...

So those who cant understand chinese ,, pls do request JON's English song to 987FM though email or sms...

Hope it helps.. :D

Oh by the way,, i believe i will be able to come on that day.. :) Finally can see JON again...

See u all there....

To add on to my previous msg, here's a bit more info on how to vote for Jon's song on FM93.3's Pick of The Pops (Long Hu Bang).

1) voting slips from I-weekly (40%)
2) SMS POTP933<space>Qing Qian 25 to 72346 (30 cents each) (30%)
3) Phone vote @ 1900 912 0933 (20 cents each) (20%)
4) Visual radio (10%)

FM93.3 enforces a one vote per person per week policy. Not sure how they keep track. All we need is just one vote per person per week! Of course will be great if you can get the people around you to pitch in. :P Elle has helped us check that they tally the weekly votes each Thurs at 12 noon.

Apparently the weightage of votes from the I-weekly voting slips are the most significant, but not all of us will buy that mag just to vote. Sms will do fine! We'll be getting hold of some voting slips, so will let you guys know when we have it, so that you can get hold of it if you want.

Think that at the fledgling stage of Jon's career, let's do what we can to get him started. So don't forget to support by 1) requesting for his song and 2) voting for his song on the popularity charts!

JonFan - December 22, 2007 02:43 PM (GMT)
It was great to see Jonathan again, and for such a long time as well, almost 45 minutes in total. Brilliant. He looked good and was as charming as ever.

I must say that the two hosts, Nick and someone else (sorry, didn't recognise him), were sporting and quite good at their job.

I got an autographed poster of Jonathan... smile3

Angelyn - December 22, 2007 03:13 PM (GMT)
Yes, Jon was fabulous! He’s now so comfortable and at ease conversing in mandarin. Oh, I love the songs he sang today and I’m so happy to have his autograph for Xmas! Yea!! And he's so relax & all smiles today

Hi guys,,

Glad to see some of u again ... And of cuz so glad and nervous to see JON again after a few months... I feel the same way as when i come to JON's performance for the first time.... So nervous, and excited to meet him in person...

And really thanks for ur usual warm welcome although i have been missing for a long time... Thanks u all alot ... Love u all...

Yesterday, I enjoyed alot and had fun although i dont fully understand their conversation.... rolleyes: Just seeing JON singing makes me feel very happy although i totally dont understand what he is singing... :P

NVM... although i ve never heard those songs from the album before, although i dont understand chinese , I feel like it s worth buying the CD as i can hear his voice everyday and i got a very lovely signature on the cover.... Yes, I was very happy yesterday cuz i can take photo with him for the 3rd time... ;)

But honestly , i feel like his voice suits English rock songs more.... But anyway, as i use to say "WHATEVER U DO,, U WILL ALWAYS HAVE MY SUPPORT" its for sure...

JON,,

can u pls cut ur hair?? Pls ,, Pls,, Pls... And u look so thin... Not feeling well?? U lost weight alot... Possible to comment on ur fashion outfit??? Ur jacket , shirt and pants come out separately which means they are not matching (in my eyes)..Especially the pants doesnt suit u (i feel so) may be cuz of the colour... If it is black, it may be nicer... Anyway,,Jeans look good on u ... And the shirt doesnt go well with the jacket and the pants... U should choose T-shirt instead (thats how i feel)... If u want to wear that shirt, u should wear black or dark blue jeans and may be coat on top and ,,, :P of cuz not with this hair style.. can u pls try to put on some weight?? pls... u look so weak (in my eyes)....

Note: the above is my positive comments and no offense at all.. Just a genuine advice..

OOPS!!! my post is so long.. (sorry guys) Hope to see u all on 30th again...

Wow! Nandar, you do have a different taste in guy’s dressing. I thought Jon looked just fine in his outfit & in fact, a refreshing change from his usual jeans & T-shirts and I love it and would love to see him more in such outfits and next time, I must remember to request for a hug (hee..hee)! drool Probably, we have different preference & taste in fashion!

Oh & talking about him losing weight. Anyone had a chance to hug him yesterday? Esp. those of you who always had a chance to hug him. Did he really lose some weight? I didn't really think so, perhaps his face looks slimmer because he's still tanned.

Tanat - December 23, 2007 06:26 AM (GMT)
I was touched by the fact that Jonathan knew how to spell my name when Nick Shen asked me for my name (when I went up on stage to answer the 2nd question on what Jon's Chinese name is). And I was glad to haf received a Xi Ji Qing Qian 25 poster wif Jon on it (altho I actually wanted the other one wif Rui En). I think Jon must haf ben really touched when I told Nick that the reasons why I like him were bcos 1) ta hen shuai (very handsome), 2) ta chang ge hen bang (singing is superb), 3) wo xi huan ta de tou fa (I like his long hair) and 4) ta de zui chun hen xing gan (he got sexy lips). :P

Always so good to see Jon singing and chatting in Mandarin with ease. A real treat he was on stage for a long time as that hardly happens! There was quite a queue for his autograph and felt happy for him!

For those who missed Suntec, you must come down to Jurong Point on Sunday! Btw, the cd included his poster were sold at Suntec on that day. We didn’t know and hunted for his cd at quite a few places as some shops ran out of stock!

Kai Leng, you are such a good sport screaming into the microphone your die hard support for Jon! It was really loud suddenly and everyone got a shock, that was funny! Had a most enjoyable dinner gathering together, thanks to all!

If you are looking for answers to "Who Moved My Cheese" and "Chicken Soup for the Soul", "You Have Been Warned" not to judge these books by their covers lest you may be deceived into thinking that this is "The Year of Eating Dangerously". Relishing in the "Good Omens" unfolding before you and savouring every moment like this is the "World Without End", "The Secret" is about to be revealed ......

Never mind that you don't understand what has been written as these are just basically some book titles which were running through my mind (highly recommended is "You Have Been Warned" by James Patterson). If you were hoping to find them at the BookFest which had incidentally ended its 10-day extravaganza at the Suntec International Convention & Exhibition Centre yesterday, the bookstores like Borders will prove to be a better bet.

Touted to replicate its resounding success in 2006, this year's Mega Book Store strove to repeat history with its smorgasbord of exhibition displays which showcased the latest collection of books, stationery, educational materials, electronic and multimedia products.

How else do you try to entice non-booklovers to this Mega Book Fair? You could try and incorporate testosterony charm which might make female booklovers (and male ones as well) take a respite from their usual run-of-the-mill browsing?

But before you could feast your eyes on him, Ms Olinda Cho would be performing first with two numbers from her newly-released album. This would be followed by an autograph session for those who had purchased her CDs.

While you thought the wait would end at 6.00 pm, alas you were being
"serenaded" by two comperes who provided brief commentaries on what to expect from the Qing Qian 25 compilation album and even attempting to sing some verses of the songs (all this in good faith to kill time).

Twenty minutes lapsed before the fans and audience finally got their eye candy in the form of Jonathan Leong. While his luscious mane has now "increased in volume" since his last public appearance three weeks ago (I am not going to comment on whether a hair cut is needed, haha), it certainly warranted the compere to remark that it "can make the mark for a shampoo advertisement" (advertisers can perhaps take heed).

Keeping in line with the rule that Jon gets to practise speaking the Mandarin language, the interview was conducted in "hua yu". I get it, proficiency in the Mandarin language can only come about with adequate time invested in perfecting on it (Wei Kuang, ni suo jiang de hua yu shi you dian jin bu, suo yi ji xu jia you!).

Members in the audience were invited to come up on stage if they knew the answers to these questions - name some of the titles featured in the "Qing Qian 25" album, Jon's chinese name, number of songs in the CD, number of CDs in the album pack amongst others - and they got a 2-in-1 poster in return.

As the compilation album was having its promotional run, "Qing Qian 25" was his natural choice of song for last Saturday's evening. "Xiang Xin" (which means belief, have faith in), his next song was the theme song of a Mediacorp TV series "wo lai zhi 1997". After the compere remarked that Jon sang it better than the original version by Chen Han Wei, he modestly replied that "you can't make comparison as Han Wei is after all an actor whereas he (Jon) is a singer and it is a natural expectation that singers have to perform better".

Fans who had bought the music CDs were in for a treat as they got to have personal messages written by the man himself on their CDs and individual photographs taken with him as well to "make a memory of". This was indeed one superb opportunity to get up close and personal with Jon (as close as you can get). Judging from the smiles on their faces and the exchanges of conversation amongst them, it was a contented lot of fans who had their wishes fulfilled (Folks, I know that he got your names spelt correctly and I am sure you love the little hearts that he drew on each individual CD, wink!).

If you are still wishing for those special moments to replay, there is one more autograph session (as mentioned earlier) which will be held on Sunday 30 December at Jurong Point to "revive those sparks".

Till then keep dreaming, dreams (only practical ones) do come true after all! Have a blessed Christmas and may your New Year 2008 be a fulfilling and inspiring one!

Eclipse - December 24, 2007 05:12 PM (GMT)
Hi Agatha, it goes to show that Christmas wishes do come true, if you wished hard enough. Some had theirs earlier, in the form of getting up close with their "eye candy" and of course listening to that unique low voice. I got mine in the form of your wonderful commentary.

Thanks once again. A blessed Christmas to all.

He needs to cut his hair.
