Title: Christmas Light-Up! What a sight! In the mood?
Description: Gush your delight, dislikes & reminisce

Angelyn - November 22, 2007 10:44 AM (GMT)
Theme for 2007 – “Fairytale Christmas”
Duration – from 17 Nov 2007 to 2 Jan 2008
Where - Scotts Road, Orchard Road, stretch from Tanglin Road to Plaza Singapura,
Marina Bay area from Hotel Rendezvous to Raffles Avenue

These stretches of roads have been transformed into what was described as “a bewitching Crystal Forest decked with magnificent chandeliers, magic harps, glittering jewels, dazzling lights in red, gold and white, and even a magical carousel.”

Looking at the stretch of Orchard Road itself from the junction of Orchard/ Scotts/ Patterson Road, you’ll see an overall color hue of lavender shade which gives a feel of freshness & invoke feelings of nostalgia and romance!

This year’s theme is no doubt my favourite!

So what about you?
What do you think of this year’s light-up?
Which year’s light-up was your favourite?
(this year’s the 17th year of the Xmas lightup)
Is there any particular one that you most reminisced,
the one that brings back nostalgic & fond memories?
Are you one of those who would bring your family or
(together with friends) to these places to soak up
the festive mood & capture those precious moments in pictures?

How about sharing with us here a favourite photo of yours taken at these places!

Do share with us your thoughts, your delights (even dislikes) and any sweet encounters (any that involves Jonathan would be especially nice). Or just talk about anything relating to Christmas & even Thanks-giving.

Xmas always bring good cheers to all! $angel

"Christmas isn't Christmas,
til it happens in your heart.
Somewhere deep inside you
is where Christmas really starts.
So give your heart to Jesus,
you'll discover when you do;
That it's Christmas,
really Christmas for you"

The trees in Orchard Road are dripping with diamonds. The sight is beautiful to behold, but too much commercialisation kills the soul. There is an empty feeling.

Just pass by Orchard last night.

I’ve just watch a TV movie showing a family get-together and putting up the Christmas tree. What a touching scene to watch the whole family, young and old sharing the joy of togetherness, putting up the ornaments and watch together as they finally lighted up the tree. Such warmth!

Probably, the most memorable Christmas for most of us would be when we have our own family and the children becomes the centre of our lives. The fun in shopping presents for the kids and the look of glee on their faces when they open up the presents on Christmas day! Then of course, the family gathering with parents, grandparents, brothers & sisters, cousins. I think the Eurasians have one of the more traditional ways of celebrating Christmas. My Eurasian friend always says that sugee cake is one of a must-have during Christmas!

Amidst all these, of course we must be reminded of the real meaning of Christmas – the birth of Jesus Christ which gives us Hope & Love.

God bless you all!

Used to do that when my sons were young. This year, both of them are away serving the nation. But they will be home for Christmas. So, I shall be turkey shopping soon. :)

Yea, luckily it is only the feathered kind, and it it must fit into my oven. For the unfeathered kind, I think they prefer the slim, dainty ones.
