Eilly - January 16, 2008 03:49 PM (GMT)
Hey eve, you are really a super gal! Driving from one end to another to grab the wanbao within such a short time :o Do drive carefully ok? ;)
The section of the wanbao that jon was featured in is actually talking about what do the artistes do during their free time when they are not singing, hosting or acting. Jon does fencing. He looks good in those pics and with that outfit!
Looks like he is getting quite a bit of exposure in the chinese market nowadays. Good publicity for him :P
agnesleong - January 16, 2008 04:04 PM (GMT)
Dear eveline
Thanks so much for the scanning.
Fencing...quite a tough game to play with.
have to handle the sword with extra care...
if not...get poke...oh pain lor. smile27
Jonathan...look quite good with the fencing suit.
Eclipse - January 17, 2008 02:17 AM (GMT)
The first line of the article says, Jonathan Leong who has lots of female fans not only loves fencing, he is also a National fencer, winning several awards since he was 15. His love for the sport was motivated by a childhood dream of becoming a big "prawn", ooops..., swordsman, I mean. I am still wondering what has he having lots of female fans got to do with his love for fencing?
Hi Agnes, glad to see you. It's been lonely without you around. :)
Thanks Eve, you superwoman, you. You are really risking life and limb for Jon Leong. He is a lucky boy. I suppose that is something good about having lots of female fans.
eveline - January 17, 2008 02:20 AM (GMT)
very cool! a National Fencer...:) what a talent!
pinky - January 17, 2008 03:17 AM (GMT)

Carol L - January 18, 2008 07:42 PM (GMT)
Thanks Eveline for the scan and for keeping a copy of the papers for me! :D
Thanks Eclipse for the translation. :D Most frustrating when you no read Chinese! :( When I saw the scan I was wondering if the article mentioned about Jon being on the National Fencing team and so now I know they did! Yay! It’s good for people to know that Jon is so multi-talented!
Hope they will feature Jon’s drawings in another article! BIG HINT! ;)
Carol L - January 18, 2008 07:47 PM (GMT)
WOW! When I saw Jon’s dashing photos in the article, immediately 2 things come to mind –
Jon in his fencing gear looks so much like a Knight in shining Armour, ready to save all the damsels whether in distress or not! angel
And next is that Jon should have a role in a Shakespeare play! Especially the pix of Jon holding his mask and resting his hand on the sabre…ahhh…reminds me….I think it will be a great match for Jon to play one of the main actor roles in a Shakespeare play! Don’t you think with Jon’s linguistic abilities, low sexy voice, good looks and suave moves that it will be a great match for him in a Shakespeare role? Oooo….I will sure go watch the play multiple times! smitten
Eclipse - January 19, 2008 04:53 AM (GMT)
I can imagine, Carol, a damsel in distress due to sudden heart stoppage, a knight in a shinning armour, kneeling beside his handsome white horse doing *blip* resucsitation on the damsel. wink1 But please no mask for the knight...
By the way, why the knight in your imagine carries sabre, should it not be a sword?
Carol L - January 19, 2008 07:10 PM (GMT)
Heh heh Eclipse, I was describing the pix in Wanbao with Jon in his fencing gear. If I am not mistaken, in fencing they call it the “sabre” and not “sword”.
Ooo…I can imagine the same scene you described with the *blip* knightly resuscitation; only effective without the mask! wink1
I can also imagine a damsel in distress whose distress was caused by the very knight himself who decided to journey to the Mandarin speaking village and conquer the market …oops...I mean village there, thereby leaving the damsel, who understandeth not the language of the next village, in much distress! :( So the distressed damsel has to learn Mandarin so that she can support him intelligently and not just in heart and spirit! And now JLWK aka Sir Jonalot needs to come and angel rescue her by giving her private language lessons!!! wink1  Muahahaha!
Eclipse - January 20, 2008 04:05 AM (GMT)
I am already so distressed reading your post.... You are right, fencers use a sabre, my imagination was that of an elegant swordsman gliding from tree to tree. Mandarin village, right?
Carol L - January 20, 2008 04:18 PM (GMT)
Hey Eclipse, I think your imagination is more in tune with our lead actor’s area of focus right now and is a more suitable match to his hairstyle, sported during a certain recent games show. So I have revised my script as follows:
Once upon a time in a not so far away land, there lived a peasant girl in a humble Canton village. The girl, despite her high IQ and EQ, was disallowed by the then laws of the motherland, as she was of the female gender, to go to the capital to study the Mandarin language. :(
Meanwhile, in the neighbouring village across the meandering river, in the same Canton Province, there lived a dashing young man schooled in the fine art of swordsmanship. His exceptional skills in the use of the sword, led him at the tender age of 15, to represent his nation in many a dueling sword fighting competitions, winning multiple awards in the pugilistic arena to do his nation proud. This exceptional young man was multi-talented, who apart from his sword fighting abilities, was also gifted in the musical arena and when he opened his mouth to sing with his unique, rich and soulful voice, caused many a maiden’s heart to flutter and even caused heart stoppage. (The maidens had to be revived with the “Chi Transference 7-point Touch Method”). wink1
The peasant girl was very supportive of this singer swordsman and would support and cheer for him at his performances, making her way from village to village to support him. Then came a time when the villagers had to let this singer swordsman go to pursue his dreams to conquer more provinces whose citizens spoke the Mandarin language. This was with the villagers’ blessings and very best wishes, as they knew they should not hold back the rest of the known world from enjoying the singer swordsman’s talents as well. :D
The peasant girl encouraged the singer swordsman to pursue his dreams and continued her ardent support for him. So off he went to journey afar to conquer further provinces. However, for the peasant girl, since she could not understand the Mandarin language, she was in much distress as she wanted to fully support him with the intellect and not just with her heart and spirit….
The heavens took pity on her and decided to intervene and sent by way of Magical Butterflies, a distress signal to the singer swordsman. Upon receiving the distress signal, the singer swordsman aka Weikuang jian xia aka Magnificent Swordsman, immediately made his way to rescue the peasant girl, gliding from tree to tree, overcoming obstacles and battling many evil enemies and opponent pugilists to reach her. And hence he came to her rescue and gave her intense private language lessons so that she could once again support him fully in his conquests of other provinces….and they lived ….to be continued in the next sequel of “Ying Xiong Jiu Mei”…..

ROFL!!!! hahaha Carol...I am speechless...and hold onto my chair tightly now!
do continue your stories! I am waiting!..and dont forget to include some peasant girls here who also cant converse in Mandarin.
we can go to the capital together to learn Mandarin too...
ho ho ho....a nice writing indeed!!!! good job!
Cheers
Eveline

 luckily your script states "Copyright Carol L" or Mediacorp may steal it.
One talented Jonatic we have here. B)
Eclipse - January 21, 2008 01:03 AM (GMT)
I like that, the "Singing Swordsman". He can already kill with his singing, actually the sword is quite redundant. wink1.
Kellyn - January 21, 2008 07:29 AM (GMT)
Carol, thought of joining MCS for another career?
You are hilarious … hands down for such imaginative script writing. Giving us much fun reading when you have the real & reel scenes together!
We are looking forward to your continued series “Ying Xiong Jiu Mei”, would it be on a weekly basis? ;)
Carol L - January 21, 2008 04:24 PM (GMT)
Aiyoh, Kellyn, weekly episodes? How to? Very busy at my other job leh. That’s why I have carefully worded it as “sequel” instead of “episode” as episode may be weekly but “sequel” normally takes minimum 2 years before it gets released….. However, due to the popularity of our lead actor who has multitudes of die hard supporters who just adore him, and since the release of this film, won even more supporters and received overwhelming acclaim for his multi-talented skills and fine character, the Producers might commission a sequel to be made much earlier…so let’s keep our fingers crossed…..
Meanwhile, to give all a glimpse into what our 2 characters are up to…..
Apart from giving the peasant girl intense language lessons, the singer swordsman spends much time secluded in a guarded location high up in the Hen Der Shan(mountain) at the Wu Guan training center. He plays his Ruan (Chinese guitar) and Guzin (seven-stringed zither) and composes his songs. He practices his singing whereby the mountains come alive at the sound of his music and wild mountain creatures are tamed by his melodious tunes. worthy
He also spends much time secluded in the very cold Secret Chamber in the Wu Guan training center honing his skills. He often sits on the creaky wooden chair meditating and studying the “Jian Xia Manual of the Two Hundred and Twenty One Ways of the Sword” written by the well-respected Master shifu Lim. wink1
Due to the very cold temperature in the Secret Chamber, his Chi energy gets depleted quickly and requires revitalizing by consuming tonic soups and herbal concoctions lovingly brewed by the peasant girl. He is also deeply touched by the love and support from the villagers, who risking life and limb, climb the hazardous mountains, scales the torrent seas and eerie forests to obtain the rare wild flowers and medicinal plants to brew for him traditional elixirs for the replenishment of his Chi energy so that he is able to concentrate on conquering the further provinces, waiting patiently for the release of his song compositions to the rest of the known world…..

On your way to becoming a novelist, eh? Perhaps a female version of "gu long"? Like I always say, this site is full of "hidden dragons and crouching tigers".
KaiLeng - January 22, 2008 05:23 AM (GMT)
woah. how long you take to come up with such stories :)
cool reading it ahA!
Carol L - January 22, 2008 04:03 PM (GMT)
Hahaha…glad you all liked my scripts with the “hidden dragons and crouching tigers”! Ahh..... the singer swordsman aka Weikuang jian xia aka Magnificent Swordsman is my source of inspiration! :D
Mmmmm.…I think my creative Chi energy needs replenishment......requires revitalization by singer swordsman’s singing and playing the Ruan......will he sing for us sooner than the 15th day of the next lunar month??? :P
eveline - January 22, 2008 04:09 PM (GMT)
I heard the peasant girl also having bday on that day? :P
Carol L - January 22, 2008 04:19 PM (GMT)
Ya, the peasant girl is right now, looking to the night sky, saying a prayer and hoping that the heavens will intervene and send by way of Magical Butterflies a special message to the singer swordsman to dedicate and sing her a song on the 15th day of the next lunar month! wink1 wink1
KaiLeng - January 24, 2008 05:03 AM (GMT)
haha. hopefully your da xia will sing ya a song :)
Alice Lee - January 25, 2008 03:55 PM (GMT)
Hahaha...Carol, your story is magnificent!! I cant stop laughing...
How come you can be soooo talented??!!
Can we have more??
jonslover - January 27, 2008 02:37 AM (GMT)
Wow,, Carol,,
Reading ur story is like watching a chinese martial art drama series...The story becomes alive and i see JON with those ancient costumes together with me brewing tonic for him in the jungle :P
Wow... U r so talented... there is the power in it to turn those words alive...
Waiting for the ending...
But dont end ur story like
" the peasant girl went back to a humble Canton village (which likely to be Myanmar :P ) and the peasant girl and the singing swordman are parted cuz of religious villagers"
I will cry till i die , Man... :(
love,
Nandar
eveline - January 27, 2008 04:24 AM (GMT)
haha....I think Carol will be confuse how to to end the story...coz lots of peasant girls now from the village home of Jonatics want to be the lucky one...
a happy ever after with the swordman..hahahhaa
mmmm sound like cinderalla...you should then find the glass shoes, which one can fit? hahaha
Eclipse - January 27, 2008 04:45 AM (GMT)
My goodness, the poor Singing Swordsman. With so many beautiful peasant girls running after him, hope he does not get too distracted.
How about me giving you a suggestion of the ending? Here goes.
The Singing Swordsman was actually bethrothed to a pretty young girl at birth. Since they were infants and too young to know each other, they were each given a sabre, when matched, will make a perfect pair. While he goes in search of her, he stumbles upon countless damsels in distress, some with severe language disabilities, some, inherent heart problems. But each time he saves anyone of them, they could not take their eyes off him. (Good grief, poor chap!)
Back to his and his bethrothed's sabres. These 2 sabres, when put together, other than having the ability to move in perfect harmony, they will produce music so divine that it will bring out the tone, and the highest quality of the Singing Swordsman's voice. That should enhance his singing that it will be so good and intense that will render anyone within hearing range, motionless (due to momentarily heart stoppages). His competitors will be wowed into a state of helplessness.
His newfound singing prowess will take him to the length and breadth of the earth (Mynmar included), overcoming all odds to conquer the singing martial world, and all the "high hands" within, with the greatest ease.
Ok, now girls, which of you peasant beauties have the other side of the pair of sabres will end up living happily with the Singing Swordsman.
How? Good ending?
Haha, but Carol it's your call lah! Still, get ready all those resucsitation equipment.
Carol L - January 27, 2008 07:32 PM (GMT)
Wah…Eclipse, a very creative and sweet ending indeed but regret :( to inform you that the Producers have put your suggested script on the shelf to be considered much much much later as they have decided that the story should not have such an early ending. As mentioned before, the lead actor won overwhelming acclaim for his multi-talented skills and fine character, so due to his popularity and huge base of supporters, the Producers are planning at least 2 sequels to the original movie as is the norm AND after 20 years later, we can look forward to another 3 more prequels ala “Star Wars”. :D B)
The script for the first sequel is still in development and is kept under tight security! police The Casting Agent is having a headache trying to politely turn away many an actress wanting to replace the original lead actress in the movie! But the Producers have already signed on the original lead actress (due to her on-screen chemistry with the lead actor) for all the sequels and prequels…. but oops, could the Casting Agent or Producers be bribed to cancel the said actress’ contract and award it to another actress??? Would there be another Movie Mogul who will buy over the entire company and replace the Producers? Ahhh….that makes for another drama in itself!! rolleyes: wink1
jonslover - January 27, 2008 07:55 PM (GMT)
rolleyes:
K lah...
Whatever is the ending,, what is most important for me is to see him singing till i stop listening music/ songs...
Does it mean i will like him till my whole head turns white??
Love JON so much,
Nandar

Hi Carol, no intention to steal the thunder from the lightning. :P Only trying to take the misery of painful anticipation away from the lot of hopeful peasant beauties before they all waste away, growing thin, and sallow faces wrinkled from furrowed brows. :(
You know, it's like when you read an interesting book, it's so riveting that after the first few chapters, you go to the end and read the ending first? And then back to enjoy the rest of the plots and subplots?
Kellyn - January 28, 2008 04:31 AM (GMT)
Carol, seems there’s so much you can write with your imagination and reality blended to one.
You are already looking at sequels and also far ahead in 20 years ala Star Wars … amazing foresight lah! The future is gonna shine brightly for the singing swordsman indeed! ;)

Even more complicated subplots here and more interesting spin off stories to be continued isn't … ??
That would help to keep him close in our sights! You are already a script wonder and really making us laugh aloud each time!
