eveline - February 21, 2008 04:01 PM (GMT)
There is always sth else to do while we dont have " a rush hour " during weekends to any Jon's gigs and performances..^_^
so let's share...:)

For me, these couple weeks, I had been going to JB. I know this is not local at all haha..coz I have no more ideas where to chill out during the weekends, others than Orchard road,so I think let's share good place, good food, great events to go to...:)

Btw, especially to Alice...:)
I read your post @ my wall @ facebook about the cool place near the caribean condo, next to harbour front? you want to share where and what about the place here?

I wanna know..:)

Cheers
Eveline

Hey, you interesting ones out there, c'mon lets share here k!

Was at Rochester Park for brunch recently, quite a nice and laid back place. Its located along North Buona Vista road, you gotta drive into this long winding side road, past tall leavy trees along the way and you could hear little birds chirping away. For a moment, thought I was in the outskirts of Europe.

Restaurants are housed individually in the pre war black and white colonial bungalows. The outdoor alfresco concept with fresh breeze seems to appeal to more people who were there as the area was fully seated, aircon sitting seems to be a 2nd choice. Mostly made of yuppy crowd, service staff was attentive and friendly even though the place was crowded.

Its always full on weekends and would be good to reserve a table if you are going. Everyone seems to be enjoying the very relaxing pace. Quite different from down town which is so bustling, people rushing by or getting distracted by the shopping malls. The food is a little expensive, you can choose from the American, European fusion, Italian restaurants or there’s the Min Jiang Chinese restaurant.

Also, its a cool place with a good ambience to chill out at the lounge bars in the evening after dinner or you can relax under the stars with the natural greenery.

Eve, the place that I have posted on your facebook wall is actually a marina (place for "parking" yachts lah). Quite newly opened. The actual location is next to Harbour Front, which is next to Vivocity, in the midst of the Carribean condos. Have to drive in through Keppel Bay drive, drive across a very nicely lit bridge. Entire place is nice and breezy, gives a very out of Singapore feel, especially at night. There is a restaurant/bar/cafe called Prive, with fantastic waterfront view on ground floor. And there's a TCC on level 2, very quiet and nice to wind the lazy afternoon away. I have been there many times already, since my friend first recommended it to me. A Japanese restaurant will also be opening in April.

Actually, if anyone is looking for any makan place to go, you can check out www.hungrygowhere.com. Its a fantastic site where the public writes many food reviews on places that they visit. You can easily get the address, telephone no. and operating hours of makan places at this site as well.
I have posted a few articles there over time lah.

Kellyn, a little feed on Rochester Park. This used to be a private residential estate of old colonial houses. Then some murder took place on No. 1 Rochester many many years ago. TCS (probably still knwn as SBC back then) even made a drama titled ˆκ†‹₯‘ξ on it. The unit was known to be haunted. Then throughout the years, many other families also shifted away. In the end, the entire area was revamped into a dining area. Maybe that's the only way to keep supernatural beings under control.... smile27
Think if you go google about 1 Rochester Park, there could still be some sites mentioning the history of it.
I agree that this is a very nice dining area now, but its rather pricey for weekly entertainment lah. It is a good place for hosting business lunches or dinners though.
A cheaper alternative is Dempsey Hill, opposite Botanical Gardens.
There is a good mix of eating and drinking places there.
There is Harry's for drinking, Ben & Jerrys for ice cream, Dome for coffee, and also several other proper restaurants for reasonably fine dining. Parking is also free (if you can find empty lots).

Another of such places is at Gillman Village at Lock Road (along Alexandra Road). There are also several eating and drinking places there. There's also a pub there called Villa Bali (as the name depicts, decor is Bali style).

Olive Ristorante at Labrador Park has nice ambience too. Drive up and you will know what I mean.

Actually, depending on what type of food or drinks or type of ambience one is looking for, S'pore still can offer some new and nice places lah, only have to go around hunting for them.

I love to eat, therefore, I will go around hunting and trying out new places.
If anyone needs any suggestions, I will gladly provide to the best of my knowledge.

Meantime, everyone who drives, go check out Marina @ Keppel Bay. Satisfaction guaranteed. If not good, come back here and complain to me!! knock knock

Thanks Eve, for the food recommendation at Big Splash!! I been wanting to go there, but keep forgetting every week! I will try to make my way there this weekend and try everything you mentioned! smitten
Keppel Bay Drive is a very small and narrow road hidden in the midst of the Carribean Condos next to Harbour Front.
Check this map out for clearer orientation http://www.streetdirectory.com/asia_travel...ravel_site_1/5/
Go slow when you drive along the main road, else you might miss this tiny road.
Of course you can call me if you cant find the place lah, I be gladly at your service!! $neh
Hope you will have a great time with your mama

its e hols now for me and i've had e luxury of hanging out w my friends lately till early morn! certain places that ill recommend would be haji lane (a few cafes situated there, the kampong glam cafe sells REALLY nice mee soto! yum! and there's a dessert shop there which sells great desserts! a few sheesha places there too, one is e egyptian-styled one which sells really nice food! try e wedges there!).

e airport terminals are also another nice places to go to esp at night, w/o e crowds there and all. a few other places would be little india (banana leaf apollo!), the garden slug at Lorong L Telok Kurau(nice ambience!), the crabshack at prince edward road, the chocolate factory at the pier and icekimo at sin ming centre(recommended! its nice and quiet and all, great place to fulfill our sinful desires and sharing e sins w our friends!)!

Absolutely acceptable to have "sinful desires" at night. Only make sure that it does not keep you up all night.
