Grab today's New Paper...an article on Jon & some celebs......
A picture of Jon & his dog. smile3
Angelyn - February 26, 2008 11:38 AM (GMT)
Thanks for the timely information. I was just about to leave office; now I managed to 'grab' the copy from my colleage & just had a quick glance.
Jon looks so pleasant with his pet dog. The article’s about what he’ll do if he’s only left with 23 days to live – he’ll devote the time to organize a 2-days – 48 hours earth awareness concert featuring our local acts & artistes, non-stop music and fun. And it’s FREE for all to attend! He hopes to bring across to people the earth environment & animal protection. Oh, and the concert to be held at the Marina Bay floating platform. (What a great choice of venue!) Besides mentioning his pet dog, Artoto, the article also mentioned about his fans adopting a monkey at the zoo for his birthday last year. (Yes, it was one of the best birthday gift idea!)
Jonathan, we love your idea! It doesn’t have to wait till such time! Hope one day soon, you’ll indeed get to organize such an event! And it should be soon while the floating platform is still around.

Thanks Lynn. Was stuck in office when I saw your post. Called my customer who was outside having lunch to grab a copy and sent it to my office!! Lucky I have fantastic customers :P
Photo is very nice, very natural. Dog owners/lovers always look very gorgeous when taking photos with their beloved pets, and Jon is not exception. Doggie Artoto is cute, but as all dog owners will feel...my doggie is cuter!...
I absolutely agree with Jon that S'pore is clean not because we keep it clean, its simply because we have countless cleaners and sweepers who are constantly at work 24/7. Unlike Japan, where the nation is all civic minded and holds great national pride, generally no one goes around littering eventhough bins are not always available, commuters eat and drink in trains, but will always wrap the packets up neatly and dispose them in the bins when they exit. Its sad to say that we need to slap a heavy fine and reform works on litterbugs and we have to ban food and drinks in trains in order to keep them clean. We still have a long way to go if we really want to work towards a gracious society.
Nevertheless, our govt is still doing a fine job in catching litterbugs and creating lots of job opportunities for foreign workers by putting them as cleaners.
Anyway, cheers to Chang May Choon for including Jon in her write-up wave

Did not have a chance to log on the whole day. A sweet angel told me in the evening to try grab a few copies of New Paper but by the time I checked, the papers were already sold out! Could some kind soul scan it pls?
Jon is always such a caring thoughtful person ... for the earth environment and animal protection! He is sooo lovable! smitten
Ooh, so glad he actually mentioned in the article the very special birthday gift from us last year, thanks to Bernice (Yan) for her excellent idea!
Lets start cracking our heads on the gift and celebration ideas for his birthday in 3 months time. Pls don’t discuss here though, gotta be a surprise and we can share all our ideas together nearer the date. Of course, we need to get Hype’s approval first but already feeling excited and looking forward to the day!

Lynn, thanks for the quick alert and Angelyn, Alice for the details on the write up! :D

Hi Eveline, you can relax coz the scan has been done! Hee hee Kellyn, your wish is granted! <_<
Heh heh but I only scanned the section on Jon. (The other 3 celebs interviewed were Irene Ang, Kenneth Kong Jianwen and Vincent Ng) Agree with you that the answers are “very Jon”. Very nice pix of Jon with his beloved Toto. :D
And for guests to this Forum, the monkey we adopted for Jon is not just any monkey. It’s an endangered species, a very cute Douc langur named Nhon. :D
Oh, I really hope that this year, Jon is free for the birthday celebrations earlier before I have to leave for my annual work trip to USA. No escape for me leh, it’s my job and this international meeting dates are fixed by the host organization exactly clashing with Jon’s birthday :( …..unless I resign from my current job…..any one wanna offer me another job? ;)
Kellyn - February 27, 2008 12:51 AM (GMT)
Eve, you know my tentacles will spread everywhere for dear Jon, hehe! Very kiasu, so also asked someone else to try get the copies.
Yay, he got them past midnight yesterday at the petrol kiosk and I got to read first thing this morning.
Love his pix (looking so fresh like the morning dew!!) with Artoto! What an unusual name, got a feeling Jon chose the name, so anyone knows what it means? Somehow can feel their closeness even in the pix and they both look sooo handsome!
Carol, what can I say … just muaks, muaks, muaks!

If you find it a tad too hard to read from the scan of Carol's post, here is the cut and paste from TNP site:

Singapore Idol 2 runner-up
JONATHAN LEONG, 26
He says he's no Bono, but if he had only 23 days to live, Jonathan Leong would devote them to organising a two-day earth awareness concert here.
Somewhat like the local version of the Live Earth concert series held globally last year, he says it would offer 48 hours of non-stop music and fun.
Headlining acts would include jazz chanteuse Jacintha Abisheganaden, Singapore Idol 1 winner Taufik Batisah and rock band Electrico.
It would be free for all to attend, and held on the Marina Bay floating platform.
But, more than just entertaining the crowd, Jonathan hopes to put forth a message about environment conservation and animal protection.
The political science graduate said it often irks him that Singaporeans do not care about their surroundings.
This includes people who litter on the beach and try to bury their rubbish in the sand, those who leave bulky garbage at void decks, and those who don't pick up their pets' poo while walking them .
'(The concert will) create more awareness for animals and keeping our place clean,' he said.
'Singapore is clean, but it's not like we keep it clean. It's because there are (workers) cleaning up.'
Also, Jonathan hopes to urge more people to adopt pets from animal shelters instead of buying them.
An animal lover who visits the zoo every few months, Jonathan has a pet mongrel named Artoto. His fans also adopted a monkey at the zoo for him during his birthday last year.
Will he write a theme song for the concert?
'I won't write for the sake of it, it depends (on whether) I have something to say.'Wonder if he will include my trees in his campaign or not? I am a "tree activist".

woah. nice lehz! :)
If only can keep a copy fo the original photo :P
Agatha - February 27, 2008 09:41 AM (GMT)
I am inclined to agree that Jonathan Leong is living up to the motto of "staying true to himself".
Artoto - you are now sharing the limelight with Jon whom many of the fans here would have loved to be in that position. You must have led a hard life in the past but now you are really blessed to have him as your owner so don't ever look back. I can tell he really loves you a lot. With your mournful look, you have made me want to hug you also.
Folks, this is really funny, I am actually "writing" and "talking" to a dog, but then again I have always been rational when I think and write.
Carol L - February 27, 2008 05:32 PM (GMT)
Helloooo Agatha! It’s so good to see your post! I miss your rational creativity in the forum leh. wink1
Hahaha…..I am sure Toto would love to receive a letter from you and he’ll be barking with joy when Jon reads it to him! Hahaha…..reminds me of this I-don’t-know-how-to-describe-it kind of look that Jon gives me whenever I ask him how is Toto as if to tell me “Of course Toto is fine with me looking after him!” rolleyes: Wahahahaha!
Indeed, Toto is blessed to have such a caring owner who loves him so much! :)
Lynn - February 28, 2008 01:36 AM (GMT)
Don't all of you wish you're a Toto?
Ok just kidding...ouch ouch
Kellyn - February 28, 2008 05:34 AM (GMT)
Agatha, enjoyed the funny side of your writing on Artoto. Interesting imagination of what toto is going through and picturing what its like! Think you have a good and creative storyline to go on … haha!
Yes, toto is really blessed to have such a wonderful caring owner!
Jon is lucky to have “someone special” who is totally trustworthy to listen to him everyday … but we wish it was one of us!
Agatha - February 28, 2008 09:30 AM (GMT)
Me, having rational creativity ... not really, I guess I can only be funny when writing on this Forum, certainly not at work as I am bound to lose my credibility. As I seem to like "talking" to animals, this is what happened when recently I managed to "meet up" with Artoto and persuaded him to write this article.
If you think only humans can talk and write, do not be too quick to pass judgement until you read this. In this modern age of evolution and with the multitude of creative inventions, impossibilities can become realities.
From the desk of ARTOTO, the celebrity pet mongrel of Jonathan Leong, the current reigning Singapore Idol 2 runner-up
"As my master, Jon's letter for this month has not been written, I will do so on his behalf here (of course I can never replace him in your hearts). I am certainly now the envy of all you people. Words cannot describe the warm feeling of being able to see my master everyday, being hugged by him, taken on rides in his vehicle and on doggie walks. When we are out for our walks together, the female species will steal glances at him because he is such a good-looker and often they will whisper excitedly among themselves. As he is quite shy (lah) he will not strike up conversations with the gals randomly. Getting to hear him croon to me in his low sexy voice at bedtime "by special request" in the form of ballads, jazz or slow rock numbers is something what his fans can only dream of (zzzzz....).
From a nobody I have now turned into a celebrity dog. As I cannot accompany my master to events I will not get to see his fans and supporters but never mind I will just imagine how all of you look. Woof-woof ... shhhhh I will have to stop here because he does not know that I am "secretly" communicating with you.
I can only write to you on an ad-hoc basis (but I know you will understand) because I need a doggie-language translation computer which is difficult to obtain from the futuristic zoo and typing on the keyboard with my paws is tiring too. Hope that my master does not notice my somewhat "swollen" paws.
Do take care and continue to keep him in your constant thoughts and prayers so woof-woof for now.
