Dear everyone....

It's almost month end now...and as you know, Someone will not forget to write us

Enjoy!...^_^

Hey all, this month for me has been more about learning how to operate
the studio program and how to come up with arrangements and basically
working out how the finish product will sound like, track by track. My
raw demos are only me on guitar or piano without music arrangements.

I have written a cd reviews for teens now and the final installment
for me is coming up so I just finished that up. It takes a full day to
do that cos I don't want to pass judgment on other people's work with
just one listen, I don't think that's being fair to the amount of work
they put in. I do enjoy writing though it takes up so much time, I
think I enjoy writing as much as I enjoy reading.

Over the weekend, I caught a few episodes of "the office" (UK version)
at a gathering I was invited to and it was just hilarious. I like it a
lot...that Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant are brilliant writers.
Its so creative. Hope to watch more of it and probably the US version
of it as well. I know the US version has Steve Carrell in it and I
think he's really funny.

Haven't had the chance to start on anything new of late, except
reading a couple of Music magazines whenever I can spare the time. My
friends keep asking me to watch entourage but I haven't got the chance
to yet, there's always so much to do but so little time. I've got
tonnes to read, watch and listen to. It's scary, amidst all that
having to make time for family, friends and exercise is just a daily
headache.

Recently I gave Olinda's album, "Rewind", another spin in my cd player
and I really liked the feel, I mean, apart from her singing, everyone
knows she's a good singer. That retro lounge spin on the retro ballads
were very well put together production wise. I listened to it again
because I overheard someone saying that she didn't like the album cos
she didn't like the sound. But in my opinion the sound was welldone,
so I think she must be referring to something else. I think that's the
issue most people have with cover versions when they are
reinterpreted. People who are used to how something sounds find it
hard to stomache anything unfamiliar. I think it goes the same with
any other product or trend. When it's unfamiliar, people fear it and
dislike it, but when it catches on, everyone jumps on the wagon, human
nature yea? I hope that changes, this is quite a hurdle for the
Singaporean creative scene. The public does not quite give a new
creation approval unless someone else supports it first. That's kinda
sad isn't it? especially for the risktakers...

I know city dwellers often don't have time for being green. But I do
wish more people will be just a bit more environmentally consious, I
mean, I've seen so much dumping of late. Rather unbecoming of a modern
society, yea? I mean, its good if you can recycle, but even if you
don't, it's so mean to throw heaps of trash where you shouldn't be...
ok, i don't want to be preachy. haha.

Anyway, keep smiling. Hoping all is well for you. Catch up next month.

Jon.

Hi Jon,

The days indeed passed by so quickly especially when we’re so engrossed in our own world and guilty of being busy..busy..busy and worst is when we don’t know when to pause and reflect on what we’ve been missing or overlooking. I think the time when I do stop and reflect is when I realized that I didn’t login into the Jonatic’s Forum for quite awhile. Yea, I know it’s unhealthy…but as long as it’s not habitual. There are just too many happenings around us, things to do, places to explore – enough to pull us away from being a workaholic.

Good that you have the opportunity to learn new skills relating to making music. Having a chance to write & compose your own songs & music do help you to further appreciate the efforts and work that goes into creating each piece of song, isn’t it?

Absolutely agree with you on your views on human nature & behaviour. But there’s still hope that people do & can change their mindset. One just has to give a second thought before responding to anyone or anything and try to keep an open mind. But the fact remains that in the commercial world, one of the key focus for success is meeting customers’ needs and satisfactions.

Wah…didn’t get to see you for a while now. Do look forward to seeing you soon! Meanwhile, definitely will keep on smiling ‘cause there’s something to look forward to this month ;)

Take care!
Angelyn
