Excellent! yahoo An extra-special belated birthday celebration for Jon! wave
It's a wonderful opportunity to catch up with Jon too. He has been so quiet in terms of events for the public these few months; I am missing him badly! Even though I may be jetlagged but I surely will not miss this birthday bash!
Yuks! the jetlag is causing me to feel sleepy at odd times and keeping me wide awake at other odd times! Mmmmm…..or could it be the excitement to meet up with Jon that is keeping me awake???? Mmmmm......Counting down…less than 24 hours……
Jon, may this be a memorable birthday celebration and gift for you, and may you know the strong support and love your supporters have for you! Jia you! smitten
louisa - June 22, 2008 03:25 PM (GMT)

Finally, after too too long a wait, we get to see Jon again! And what better way to meet Jon than to be captured in a capsule with him! Hahaha
(Jon & Hype, please please don’t put us through the torture of another long wait before we get to meet Jon again! wink1 )
Ahhh what sweet memories we shall remember of this special belated birthday celebration for Jon! Thanks Jon for spending time with us and for your honest candid answers for the Q & A session. It is good to know that Jon has remained the same principled person of integrity that we so love and has not succumbed to giving typecast answers!
And what a priceless exclusive treat to hear Jon strum his guitar and sing for us a song that he composed and even before it is recorded and released in his upcoming album!!!! Maybe we even got to hear it in the language that may not be in the final recording! Wow! Jon singing to us his romantic song high up in the sky, set against the night skyline as we traveled in the capsule with him.....ooooh.....so romantic indeed. smitten Oops, my heart skipped a beat again just recounting the moment just like last night hearing him sing to us. Excellent work Jon! It was really a good composition with a catchy melodious tune. Of course our wish will be for the song to become a hit! Yeah!
Wah wah wah! Upon our request, Jon played his guitar and sang us another song – impromptu! Wah! Sent us all swaying to the music and sent our hearts a fluttering!! drool
Too quickly, the night came to an end….I wouldn’t have minded if we went a few more rounds up in the Flyer with Jon or had more time with Jon in the VIP Lounge…… Now I am waiting for the next opportunity to meet up with Jon again…..an opportunity to show our strong support as always! smitten
syari - June 23, 2008 10:44 AM (GMT)
you know what, had it not been for eve convincing me to go, my sunday would have been spent at suntec city playing host to the delegates for the singapore international water week. of course, my lying to the event organisers meant that my sunday was spent beautifully (hopefully, none of them found out abt this).
from the time that my friend picked me up to go to suntec city, my heart was pounding like as if i just ended a 10 000km race. imagine my excitement when he finally stepped into the VIP lounge and then standing next to him at the group photo-taking session and finally being in such close proximity with him for the next hour! yahoo
the defining moments for me during the ride was when he gave his very honest answers, when he sang for us 2 songs instead of one and when he actually came over to the back to, in his own words, "take an opportunity to talk to the quieter ones". awwww.... which meant that i actually got another 2mins worth of standing next to him. angel
all in all, even if it meant that i'd get into trouble with the event organisers, my school and my parents, i would do it all over again because the scolding that i'd be getting would never be a good enough justification of me missing that wonderful experience.
finally, thanks eve for convincing me to go and thank you everyone else! :)
eveline - June 23, 2008 02:54 PM (GMT)
Dear all....
I'd like to convey A short Note of Thank you from Jon...:)
he said, " Do Thank everybody, especially those who went to much trouble to organize it, I had a really good time! It was very fun! "
I think, all of us, should wait his letter of the month, yea?...:)
Alice Lee - June 23, 2008 03:49 PM (GMT)
Thank you Eve!! And also thanks to Kellyn!! It was a wonderful private party!!
Perfectly executed. Everything was so nicely planned and went on so smoothly, and on schedule, it was simply amazing!!
I really admire the passion and endless energies that you all possess! worthy
I could see from Jon's sincere smile that he was happy and appreciative, despite being very spaced out from lack of sleep.
I enjoyed myself immersely, because of this opportunity to be upclose and personal with Jon (he is so nice that I had the urge to kidnap him and bring him home!!) and also because I had fulfilled my wish of riding the Flyer!
I will treasure such good memories for a long long time.
My colleagues asked me when I stepped into the office this morning if I had strike lottery because I couldnt hide my good mood. The sweetness of the event has kept me smiling for a whole day.
Once again, thanks for everything. smitten
Lets all anxiously wait for Jon's new album...with one track that we have already heard before...hehehehe...
Kellyn - June 23, 2008 04:06 PM (GMT)
Jon’s birthday bash was a resounding success and a total blast from the start till end of a most amazzzing evening last night! Time just seems to fly away too quickly and wished the clock would stop ticking away ......
Everything was almost too perfect, from the moment when Jon stepped into the VIP lounge where his supporters gave him a very warm cheery welcome! He thanked them profusely for all their efforts in organizing this party for him.
We then proceeded to the mock up capsule for a momento photo and excitedly went onboard the Singapore flyer to start the events rolling. When he was posing for pictures in the capsule, our official photographers were asking him to move a little here and there, he was so obedient & at times childlike asking if his pose was ok, it was amusing and that just makes him so adorable!
Really like the Q&A, good interesting questions were posed and of course Jon never failed to give truthful & thoughtful answers, not the run of the mill safe boring responses. Always true to himself, he remains such a sincere genuine person we all love. It was a rare opportunity to listen to his inner thoughts and getting to know him better. Also, it was really nice that he had such close interaction with us.
Love the way he sang his original composition “Leila”, seated on the high chair and strumming his guitar, it was so romantic under the starry moonlight! We were all truly mesmerized and his voice was as good as ever! It had a catchy tune, very listenable and definitely the biggest highlight of our evening! What we experienced was really like having a fantastic party with a good old friend who was the “STAR”! Still can’t believe we were so up close and personal with Jon!
The adoption of Tigger was rather meaningful, it was the JLFC's birthday gift with a good cause to help abandon dogs. Another gesture was the specially designed birthday poster by Michelle which was signed off with many warmest wishes from his supporters. He was very appreciative especially by our heartfelt thoughts in every planning detail for him.
Jon was very touched by his ardent loyal supporters who have really stood by him in the quiet times now before the launch of his album. It was affirmation of the strongest support given to him!
Realised he was all smiles and chatty throughout the entire night, and was very comfortable as he knows every one of his supporters well now. All our efforts have been really worthwhile to make everything so special for him!
Its really great to see the renewed bonding whenever we unite to do something for Jon!
Lets keep our passion alive always!
$love

Did you all remember the specially self painted black sneakers pinned with cute little flags that was given to Jon on TV during the SI days? Those sneakers were really hip and stood out from the ones given to Hady!
At that time, was not yet supporting Jon and watching the show sooo casually. Thinking aloud ... oh you people (Colleen, Kai Leng, Mag, Matthew ... haha!) were so passionate spending time doing so much for him? :)
Guess what, we saw on his birthday bash that evening he actually had the flags pinned very nicely onto his guitar case! Isn't he so sweet to keep and treasure the little things which the supporters did for him? smitten
Agatha - June 26, 2008 09:48 AM (GMT)
I am just gathering my thoughts and I should be able to come up with the write-up for the birthday bash (Very surprising for those who went, right?). This will be written in my personal capacity and will be a great departure from the one that I did last year. Thought-provoking you may say.
Eilly - June 26, 2008 05:13 PM (GMT)
It was my first time seeing jon play the guitar. He was just simply amazing! His nice & full of emotion tone plus the nice melodies were just too captivating! He said he uses his guitar as a ‘tool’ to write songs and he is not really good at it. How can we agree to it? Look at all the faces with the ‘wow’ look! wink1 Haha!
I must say, I really had a wonderful evening and I enjoyed myself very much with the events line-up. I was lucky to be able to pick up the last ticket to join in the fun. Otherwise….. regrets! regrets! Thanks to the special someone who worked really hard to persuade me into it! smitten
Agatha, would love to read your post! drool waiting anxiously for it now ....
eveline - June 26, 2008 05:19 PM (GMT)
and...
something that makes us feel special was....
Having him alone with us at the height of 165 m from the ground, with our singapore city and beyond below us, with a singapore iconic skyline as the backdrop.... singing a special song specially for us with his guitar...
so up close and personal....
a moment to remember...

Syarina, yay agree with you that Jon is always so nice and thoughtful taking the precious time to talk to the quieter ones ...... Irene Chia, Susie, Yee Aung, you & me were delighted to have such a special personal chat with him indeed! smitten
Jon said he is usually the quiet one standing at the back too, so we have this "quiet nature" in common with him ya! He has really open up to his supporters interacting at ease with everyone, what can I say ... that he is just absolutely fantastic! angel
Yee Aung, isn't so nice of him to remember you after not seeing you for such a long time since SI days! So you must always give your support to him, visit us here and join us ya! :)

Fancy being encapsulated in the latest icon of Singapore and relishing in this top-of-the-world feeling that the breathtaking and awe-inspiring sights can offer then the Singapore Flyer which is touted to be one of Asia's iconic attractions will be your natural choice.
Imagine that if this was a time capsule that you were travelling in with your soul mate, it would only be too perfect if time could stand still and let these memorable moments last forever. What about letting yourself be transported back to the past and wondering how your life would have been if you could relive it once again with that someone special. When time defines and determines the linear outcomes in life, the interaction and experiences that the characters start to share intertwine organically. What were your thoughts when the capsule was making its rotationary movement and the 30 minutes that it would take to complete one rotation of the observation wheel in continuity could be likened to our lives moving in circles.
Even if these encapsulated moments were temporary, they were sufficed to serve the intended purpose of the supporters from the JL Fan Club who organised this year's birthday bash for Jonathan Leong on Sunday 22 June at the Singapore Flyer. If there is an element of truth that "absence makes the heart grow fonder", the deep-seated yearnings brewing within their hearts were subconsciously seeking to manifest in a conspicuous manner and letting his birthday pass by without at least a celebration of sort was not doing good justice to him. Hence in a way this bash would serve as a timely affirmation of their support for him otherwise how else would you think that the supporters were willing to shell out a three figure sum for that momentary spin up in the air with Jonathan Leong even if it was just for an hour.
If you thought that last year's bash was a little belated, the greater belatedness this year was due in part to accomodate the schedule of some fans who would otherwise not have been able to make it. You would have thought how obliging he could be but it is this quality that makes him so endearing to his faithful supporters who wasted no time in organising and signing up for this event.
Though it was a low-key affair compared to last year's, the chance of cozying up to Jonathan Leong and being intimate with him in the private capsule besides getting your much-needed individual photos taken and chatting up with him were too good to miss for these supporters.
The first part of the bash took place in the VIP Lounge before fans proceeded to board the Flyer for that once-in-a-lifetime and out-of-this-world feeling with him. Opportunities were aplenty to ogle at him at close range (and you would not be accused of desiring a seduction up in the air) since you were confined in a restricted space and had no where else to look besides occasionally casting your eyes at the scenery that was available.
Attempting to replicate the savoir-faire of last year's birthday celebration, the usual Q & A session was held where questions were posed to him and the answers reflected a down-to-earth individual who is ready to make his mark in the music industry. The adoption of man's best friend was a wise choice considering that it was a contribution to a worthy cause for abandoned dogs and that Jonathan is a dog-lover.
Fans were in for a bonus treat when they heard for the first time his original composition "Leila" of which the title sounded like another song made popular by Eric Clapton (perhaps he was inspired by that song to write this composition). As if that was not enough they were being serenaded by a second number from him to the accompaniment of his guitar and if your imagination was running wild at that moment, I could not agree more.
As the evening drew to a close thus ending the celebration for the day, saying good bye seemed to be the hardest part but it was inevitable and you might finding yourself asking this question, "When Will I See You Again?" and (when will we share precious moments).
As for the rest who did not make it for the birthday bash on the Singapore Flyer for some reason, you can take solace in the fact that you are not the only one to have missed it. On a consolatory note it does not make you any less of a fan of Jonathan Leong and certainly support for him can come in other forms.
How will next June be? Only time will tell but for now his supporters can still relish in these wonderful memories if that is what the dreams of fans are made of though on a pragmatic note, how else will you want to fork out this sum of money unless you have some surplus cash from last year's bonus to burn for that matter?
If you thought my write-up for this birthday bash was a great departure from the one that I did last year, adhering to conformity would steer from the purpose of my intended message - "To Be Or Not To Be". Perhaps this is one of the aspects of what life is all about - making choices.

Wow, so nice to have such fabulous pixs with Jon … very special and memorable indeed! smitten Do I have to wait another year …? :(
Thanks so much to Faith and K-rex who were so busy that evening and took such marvellous shots, and Eve for sending to us.
Thanks to the wonderful support from all of you who filled the flyer to maximum capacity! You are an unbelievable great bunch full of fun and love, such great spirits and teamwork!
Kudos to everyone who work hard to make the event a real success! You are all really remarkable … giving your best without a second thought always! angel
Alice Lee - June 28, 2008 12:36 PM (GMT)
Thanks Eve!! I have received the photo. Jon's smile is soooooooooo sweet despite being so tired. Yeah!! I finally have new wallpaper for my computer and handphone!! smitten
Thanks Faith and K-rex for being such good photographers. $neh
Once again, thanks Kellyn, for making me feel so at home and so at ease.
Its really nice to see everyone again after so many months, especially Carol who made great effort to attend despite being so jet-lagged, Eve who had to run everywhere to manage so many things, Kellyn who is quiet but always makes everyone feel so welcomed, Kaileng forever so bubbly, Irene and Valerie and many more. And the one who always insists on hiding behind cameras, Eilly! I am real glad that you attended.
Its fantastic to be part of this family. wave
We should keep this forum alive to express our full support for Jon, since there probably wont be too many public appearances by Jon who is so busy with his new album preparation.
Everyone else that attended the special party, please start posting!!

Dear all,
there's a nice run down of the day...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Confessions of a Wallflower
You must be wondering, has it really been one full year since we had a balloon guard-of-honour and decimated the Bart cake at The Pines last year? And this year, it could not have been more befitting that Jon's birthday rendezvous with his supporters was conducted in the spanking new Singapore Flyer - an iconic edifice set against the glittering lights of the Singapore skyline.
As a licensed wallflower, I had the opportunity to observe the whole plethora of activities going on as the party got underway. Of course, before the man of the moment materialized, the party planners had to advise the motley crew of the house rules. No grabbing, no kissing, no jumping out of the Flyer. Ok, we got it. Everyone waited, ensconced in the comfort of the VIP lounge and engaged in an expectant buzz of conversation. It was of note that there were at least six service staff in the VIP lounge, standing around. Did we really need so many people or were they there to ogle too?
And then we heard it. He's here!!!! As things always go, everyone had their eyes trained on the lift, only to have him emerging from a side door, and having all the hapless photographers scrambling to the other corner of the room to capture his entrance.
After a few perfunctionary greetings and shy smiles, everyone was bundled to take the ubiquitous simulation photo and then we were herded to our party capsule. Finding a nice glassy corner to plaster myself, I set about to enjoy an hour in the sky.
It was full house in the Flyer, and dare I say a little too crowded. But places were limited for this chance to get up close and personal, and it really could not get more personal to be in the same space no bigger than half a bus. This, no doubt, was to the delight of many. :p
After a quick tour-guide introduction of the Flyer by the trusty MC, the individual photo-taking session took off with footdrill precision. Everyone knew when it was their turn and there was really no grabbing or kissing, which I think our birthday boy had appreciated. Of course, his manager stood eagle-eyed throughout it all, ready to haul out any offenders. But everyone stayed civil and managed to get their one-to-one photo with Jon.
After the glut of photo-taking and ogling (yes, this wallflower here saw all the ogling going on, furtive or otherwise), it was time for some Q&A. Jon managed to handle the questions he picked out of a sweet blue box, with equal doses of honesty and sincerity.
Then, the birthday cake was trundled out and the birthday song was warbled. No candle blowing though, they didnt want the Flyer plunging into Marina Bay in flames. Jon was presented with a sponsorship certificate of Tigger, a mongrel that had been left to die but was rescued by the Action for Singapore Dogs. The birthday boy, who always told his supporters not to waste money, was pleasantly surprised to have received such a gift instead.
This was what he had to say after the party: "This gift is one of those gifts that keeps on giving (not to sound cliche or anything). I like to help out animals very much as I feel that they have no means to speak up for their own rights and defend themselves. It is very heartwarming to know that Tigger will be looked after because of the people who support my music. I don't claim myself to be a role model but I am glad that indirectly, I am able to make this doggie's life easier for the time being. Its a really sweet gift, money meaningfully spent."
After more flashing of cameras, the supporters were in for a treat as Jon regaled us with two songs on his guitar. Within the small space of the Flyer, it almost felt that he was singing to each of us. Both songs were emoted with utmost tenderness and was mana to parched ears.
As our capsule started on its final descent in its second loop, Jon went around catching with everyone. Quieter supporters were glad of the chance to speak to him and distances dissolved in those moments. It was heartening to see how he now more comfortable with everyone. And parting was difficult as we disgorged ourselves from the capsule. A few last precious moments were spent in goodbyes at the VIP lounge and the birthday boy was whisked away amidst forlorn waves.
But all of us are fretting not because we know that our support is giving him the encouragement in his album preparation, something that everyone is waiting for with bated breath! Meanwhile, the memories and photos of this intimate encounter will remain.
Angelyn - July 2, 2008 03:40 PM (GMT)
I’ve been busy with family matter right after the birthday bash and at last I’m able to login but wow! whatever in my thoughts, my feelings have all been conveyed by you beautiful people & most of all even Agatha who wasn’t there somehow understood our inner feelings so well and dear “Wallflower” you were indeed well ‘hidden’. I swear I observed every inch of the flyer capsule & didn’t notice any wallflower. I must have been too mesmerized by Jon’s presence.
A truly beautiful & yea, romantic kind of feeling that evening. Don’t blame anyone of us girls, young or older having a kind of wishful thought of having just that other half standing next to us, sharing the moments in that enclosed capsule up in the beautiful night sky. (Need I say who I wish the other half could have been?!) Well, unfortunately, all ended too soon! No other occasion could be compared to that evening.
Alright, back to reality. Jon, to us, you are our friend, our brother, our son. We’ll always give our love and support! We’ll always be there for you!
Love you, Jon
