Title: Jon's 19th Newsletter : June 2008

eveline - June 30, 2008 09:06 AM (GMT)
Dear everyone,

Here's June 2008 Letter for all of you.

Enjoy reading and dont forget, you can also reply @ the forum.

Cheers,
Eveline

-----

Dear everyone, it's been a rather trying month this june but I have to
extend my deepest thanks to you for giving me the additional strength
to keep at it, despite the many difficulties I face. I feel really
lucky and proud, that I have the best supporters I can hope for.

Thanks so very much for the undying support through this time while I
learn the foundations to becoming a mainstay in the region's music
industry. i understand that it can be rather frustrating that it seems
to take forever to come up with my debut album, it is trying for me as
well. I try to comfort myself that I went back to school and only
started picking up the guitar to learn to write my songs slightly less
than a year ago.

I had a really good time at the singapore flyer with those of you who
took the time and energy to put my birthday celebration together. My
favourite part of the party was actually playing one of my
compositions for you. I know a lot of you are just as quiet as I am
and I hope you enjoyed yourselves as much as I did. I would never have
gone on the flyer if not for the celebration., so once again, thank
you.

The next challenge (apart from helping out with music arrangement) I
have is to pen mandarin lyrics for my tracks, I have some external
help but I think to speed things up I need to try my hand at lyrics as
well. It's a really long road... haha... its a big jump from just
being a singer in a band to a cover singer to a songwriter to being
essentially a one man band. Sometimes i do wish I had studied music in
my younger years so things would be that much easier for me right now.
No point crying over spilt milk, yea?

Recently I watched a dvd that had all of Pixar's short films, it was a
very inspiring for me. There is a documentary in the dvd about the
history of pixar and seeing how they rose to be the animation giants
of the day. This kind of thing really helps me along as I try to make
my way as a relative unknown in the music scene.

I had finished with my short stint as an album reviewer for teens
magazine. It was a good experience for me and helped me learn that
little bit more about the industry. I recently did an interview for
"Teenage" Aug National Day issue too.

I am going to get back to work today as I try to live my weekends away
from my macbook and music software. I try to catch up with my friends
and famly, do some reading and watch inspiring work on saturdays and
sundays. I heard that there is a comic convention happening this
saturday and sunday, maybe I'll go check it out. I've always liked
comics and cool figurines.

Till next month,
Jon.

Dearest Jon

It was undoubtedly the most wonderful, unforgettable experience for all of us.

That evening was indeed magical; every minute was so precious to us. Just recalling it gives me thrills of excitement – the atmosphere was relaxed, you were relaxed, we enjoyed listening to your composition (wished there was an encore), the finger food was good, the cake delicious (you were even more deliciously good looking) and oh, you got to finish your piece of birthday cake! Unfortunately, we kept you so busy talking & taking pictures that you missed most of the surrounding scenic views.

Your presence, your songs and even your patience taking pictures with us gave us inspiration and continued assurance that our loving & undying support for you was every moment worth the while.

Thank you so much; we’ll wait patiently for your next news and appearance. Meanwhile, continue your learning on music. Yap, it’s never too late. Hope that you’ll get a chance one day to go for some kind of music courses either locally or overseas.

We always love you, Jon.

Take care,
Angelyn

My second time on board Singapore Flyer, both events were enjoyable, but this was a more memorable one! Thanks for singing us one lovely composition of yours. It is indeed very catchy and like what you have mentioned before ‘radio friendly’ :P jia you!

Oh, there is a mention about Jon's birthday bash at Hype's website :D

Have been away … so its really nice to be back and hearing from you!

Thanks for taking the time to be with us and making it such a truly memorable evening for all! The birthday celebration was definitely to affirm our undying support for you despite the quiet times. We believe in you and your ardent supporters will always remain with you!

For everyone here, it was not just a fad to support you during the hype. They are much more then that, to have stood the test of time and are true supporters who enjoy your music and appreciate your many wonderful qualities.

Sharing with us the challenges ahead and the many difficulties you are facing along the way … it’s frustrating indeed but take heart that we will be around as long as you are in the music scene.

Wow, your Mandarin must be really good now to wanna pen the lyrics. We were impressed that you played the guitar so confidently though you have learnt it not so long ago. Your original composition was an excellent effort that was beautifully sung and we really enjoyed it very much.

Good to take some time to relax to recharge your energies. Getting inspired by motivating real life stories does help lift one’s spirits up and to keep moving on!

We are just as proud to support you and have faith in you! You are very special to many, keep believing in yourself!

$hug
