Dear all...
It says : "it's late. Haha Sorry!" on the tittle of the letter....hmmm which I personally think it's not "that Late"...:) considering we have just seen him in person last two days, as well as the President Charity to look forward to next sunday...:)
But here's the piece, to bring you more excitement...do enjoy reading his letter..:)
Cheers
Eveline

Hi all, Sorry for the late letter this month I have been pretty busy
(which is a good thing). Didn't want to write something for writing's
sake. Did a short gig for Levi's on the 1st of Oct and attempted to
perform with my guitar for the first time. I figured it was time to
start showcasing more instead of the standard fare karaoke kind of
thing. I think that set up works better in a situation where there are
no lights and other "big show" illusions, also I wanted the experience
of playing to an audience instead of merely using the guitar in the
comfort of closed doors. In the future I hope to be able to do more.
But all in all it was a good experience.
President's star is coming up next weekend and my time is going to be
spread pretty thin with that for awhile, yesterday I went to visit one
of the beneficiaries of the president's star and did an interview with
an old lady who has been receiving aid from St Hilda's community
service. Her story was a heartwrenching one and was made more poignant
by her steely exterior. I sincerely hope that people do donate
generously to people like Mdm Low, obviously I also trust that the
money will go the needy... my faith in charities has been shaken in
the last few years. I helped in ways that I could for Mdm Low but one
person can only do so much.
Listening to Mdm Low's stories and looking at her current plight since
she came to singapore when she was 7 got me thinking about our
society. People seem to forget that there are strength in numbers.
Things can change with collective will and injustice can be made right
when ideas are put into action. Not by one person, but by all. This
could apply to any situation in cases of unfair systems, corruption,
poverty and exploitation, etc . Hopefully more and more people will
expand their minds and think of more than themselves from time to
time. As people become more and more educated (especially in our
society), a more mature, enlightened society is expected. Banal needs
such as competition and victory should not be the resounding goal when
the costs are equally high. The Majority always rules, so if the
majority tends to be self serving, that action will translate in a
society's culture. But if the majority is giving, listens to reason
and is compassionate to the plight of others, I do think there is hope
for humanity yet.
I spent some time watching the television the other day and I was
quite disappointed with what I saw as I channel surfed. The majority
of programmes that were on the telly that targeted the youth were
predominantly shallow. The people on the shows were focussed on
becoming popular, more cunning, more well liked than the 'other'.
Backstabbing and appearances seemed the most important themes in the
shows. I am not exactly sure who reads these letters I write almost
every month to this humble site but I do wish that at least some
people find my that my words make at least some sense to them. I don't
claim to be a role model, nor that I know more than anyone else. But
hopefully some people can read what I say and take something away from
it. I think it's of utmost importance that young minds make informed
decisions and not be purely raised by addictions such as television.
Think for yourselves and look around. Just because things are in print
or in any form of media does not make them truths.
A few weeks back, I was asked by my fellow stablemate Ruien to design
a logo for her new fansite so I spent some time on that and to my
knowledge she picked one of my designs so I hope her fans are happy
with what I came up with. I am very interested in art but have not had
the luxury to delve into it as music and writing has still been what I
tend to spend my energies doing. However, I do live vicariously
through a few very close friends of mine who are full time artists and
I admit I am a fan of their works.
On another note, I have been thinking about writing articles for
papers, magazines or starting a column somewhere but I don't know if
any publication wants me on board. We'll see.
Jon.

cya at PSC :D
we'll call the lines while ya performing yes? :D
Hi there Jon!
As usual the content of your letter always inspires us to think & mull over the matters in life which we often take for granted! Actually, you don’t have to apologise for being late with your writing. In fact, thank you for writing despite your busy schedule.
Anyway, just a short note for you first ‘cos I’m rushing to finish my reports and to get ready to go to my company’s head office in Munich for a 2-week training on a new software application system this Sunday. Will miss your performance at PSC. Hope you’re invited to WLH’s concert on 1 Nov and hope I’ll be able to catch a glimpse of you if you're there!
Bye & take good care!

Hi Jon,
It is Sunday today and now 4.43pm Munich time. At last, I just got a little free time on my very own and taking the opportunity to catch up on your fansite and forum.
Alhtough I'm thousands of miles away, you are still in my thoughts. Missed the PSC but with internet access, nothing is completely missed except for the physical you and the dear Jonatics. Anyway I believe I will get to see you, your performance again.
Many of us are always busy so it's good that there are charity shows that highlight the plight of people who are truly in need of our attention. We should give credit to volunteer workers. They are people whom I most admire.
Nice to know that you had a chance to make use of your love for arts and drawings by designing Ruien's website. Hope to see it out soon. Now, how about considering redesign our JL fansite! Hee hee...just a thought.
Take care

Dear Jon
Oops I am so very late ...... but then better late than never! Marvel at how you keep at it in everything you do with such commitment! Thanks so much for writing to us every month no matter how busy or trying things may be for you, and always coming up with such wonderful write ups!
The Levi’s gig was very enjoyable for all of us. Performing the two songs “Always be my baby” and “angels” in the unplugged version was really a fantastic treat and truly mersmerizing!
The simplicity and your earnest rendition were very refreshing and the supportive crowd was totally connected and in awe by your performance! Singing and strumming your guitar along showcased a soft gentle side of you which was very appealing and captivating!
There’s often something in your letter that we would learn, may it be some new knowledge, wisdom or perspectives in life. Your thoughts are always an inspiration to everyone reading your letters as you constantly impart such meaningful values for one to re-evaluate one's goals and meaning in life amidst our really hectic city lifestyle.
Many had come together and shown great compassion to the plight of the less fortunate during the President Star Charity. Every little effort helps in making any worthy charity drive a success. Let’s hope this giving spirit is ingrained in one’s daily life too!
Love your very jazzy Quando Quando, it was laid back and you seem very relaxed singing it and smiling mischeviously (was it because of our loud deafening screams?!) during your performance. It was just one song too little, and yet in the Lianhe Wanbao, you and Veronica Young had one of the highest donations! That reminded me last year, you and Diya draw in the top 3 donations too, so Mediacorp has to do some thinking on your appearances really?
Yea, it’s a really good idea and would be interesting and good exposure if you start writing regular pieces in the media. Any publication should be more than happy to have you on board, its in you and you will absolutely just breeze into the task! Surely they don't want to miss out on such excellent contributions from you??? Do hope to see it happening soon!
Meantime, do take care and keep your spirits up!
