Title: Rules

Nako - February 11, 2007 10:25 PM (GMT)
*Just a Note; Tiazora was my old Weyr and was a sister Weyr of Kharasi. They are kind of.. dead right now though.

** Rules posted in red are newly added rules.

OOC Rules

1. First and foremost, be respectful to others. I know it's hard, and sometimes arguments break out, but if things start getting messy then I'm going to have to jump in and lay down the law, and if you fail to treat me or others with respect, then I'm not going to give you any either. Please, don't make me turn into a mean Weyrwoman.

2. People on the council are there for a reason. Go and speak with one of them if you are having issues with other players, and if you are having problems with a council member, then talk to me, even if it's me you're having the problem with. I'd rather everyone be honest and just go ahead and tell me (Nako) if you've got a problem. Cleaning out your system of those ill feelings will keep them from growing mold and becoming quite smelly.

3. Transfer riders of green, blue, and brown are acceptable, bronzes being allowed on a case by case basis. No queens will be allowed, since they have to be earned through rp and activity.

4. Permission must be given to own any sort of pet. Runnerbeasts, canines, and household felines are common pets, as well as firelizards. Gold firelizards are not transferrable, and bronzes are rarely accepted. Brown, blue, and green firelizards will be more readily accepted. Wild clutches cannot be found without permission, and you most likely won't find any at Kharasi because firelizards are still uncommon in these areas, and the weather is usually too cool for firelizards to live and clutch here without being owned.

5. Elaborating more on firelizards, don't go all Menolly on us and have a plethora of firelizards. A maximum of two firelizards will be allowed with a newly made character. If they are to recieve any more, it will have to be through a clutch laid by a firelizard within the Weyr, or within Tiazora if they happen to visit there to snag an egg(if they ever revive themselves again x_x).

6. Major titles such as Lord Holder and Masterharper must be requested for, or given. Do not bestow upon yourself a major rank; that's the council's job.

7. No HADs. You have to be given express permission to have a character with this gift, and personally I think it's so overused I don't think I'm going to pass this ability out to anyone. Nyar.

8. All hair and eye colors must be natural. There may be a few crazy eyed and crazy haired people running around at the moment, but keep in mind that I most likely wasn't the one that okayed them. Lavender eyes... I've heard they exist, but if anyone even -thinks- about wanting an eye color like this, their eyes better be predominately blue to the point you almost can't tell the difference. If we already have some lavender eyed people running around.. then I don't want to see another one because lavender eyes aren't exactly common.

9. Major plots should be run by the council. Pregnancies, deaths, kidnapping, stalking, gathers.. anything that would endanger or seriously concern any character or the Weyr as a whole should be run by me (Nako) or another council member if I'm not around. Even if it's not exactly a big plot, I'd still like to hear about it. Me likes plots =D

10. Okay, concerning honorized names... Even -I- am guilty for having super short honorized names, but I suppose we need to cut down on those a bit. At least four letters is a good wholesome length for a name, and it also helps redundancy and super-similar names from happening. Be creative, and easy on the pun names =)

11.PREGNANCIES AND TWIN CHARACTERS. This is one of my biggest rules now. If you are to have more than one child in one birthing, twins, triplets and onward, I HAVE to know. The reason is because we live in a feudal area with not the best of medical knowledge. All sorts of things can go wrong with twin births. To deter some of you from doing this over and over again, you will have a certain percentage of chance that something really bad happens when you decide to have twins. If you try to come in with twin characters, I just might roll a dice and say they have to be conjoined, so watch yourself. If you are pregnant with twins, they may die, one may not survive, they may be conjoined, have a serious medical condition.. and worst case scenario is that your character will lose the ability to conceive. If you decide to try and give birth to triplets or more, your chances of your character dying yes, dying will go up. I'm serious about this.

12. No more Journeymen and Masters can be created. Start off with an apprentice and see where it gets you.. or earn enough cookies to make one.

13. Concerning PHOTOGRAPHS and ART. Do not use photography of actors to put in your character profile. You do not own those photos nor do you have permission to use them. Do not use popular anime art to convey your character. Half of the time they do not look like Pernese characters at all and no, those bunny ears that anime chick is wearing wont' fly. Only use photographs and art that have drawn or photographed yourself (or photographs of yourself) Do not be surprised if I ask for some sort of proof that the art/photograph is yours if I am suspicious.

IC Rules

Whoo.. this is gonna be a long list. Keep in mind that these rules are breakable, but will have IC consequences. If any of these rules are to be broken for plot, I ask you to let me know about it, for it fall into the plot category.

Dragonriders:
1. No timing it. It is dangerous and generally avoided, especially for the lesser colors. Special permission from the Weyrleaders must be given to time it.
2.Dragonmen must fly when thread is in the sky. Only special permission or injury will keep them from thread.
3. Have common sense; do not fly thread, or /between/ for that matter, if you are seriously injured or ill. The cold will only make it worse.
4. Female dragons must stay at the Weyr when they begin to show signs of proddiness. Riders often have erratic mood swings and could be a danger to others or themselves if they leave the Weyr. This is especially true for goldriders, for they must be in their designated Weyr when the time comes.
5. When a queen rises, all other queens must immediately leave the Weyr. It is recommended they leave when the queen shows signs of glowing, to prevent any fights amongst the golds.
6. Dragonmen must conduct themselves accordingly around non-dragonriders. The openness of dragonriders and their loose morals are not as readily accepted amongst commoners, and business of thread and tithes must be shared exclusively with Holders and Lord Holders. Causing upsets between people and Holder is not acceptable.
7.Female green and blue riders are encouraged to use herbal contraceptives to avoid pregnancy. Short flights between are also acceptable to abort a pregnancy. The bearing of children is most certainly allowed, but since females make up a large number of blue and green riders at times, the Weyr would rather have very few out of commission due to pregnancy. It is encouraged to wait a few turns between giving birth to have another, and if it turns to be detrimental to one's health to conceive due to difficulties with childbirth, it is encouraged to use contraceptives.
8. One can only become a full rider when they reach 16 turns of age, no matter how long they have to be in the weyrling wings.
9. A dragonrider has to go to all drills and sweeps if they are assigned to them.
10. Do NOT form relationships with junior weyrlings or candidates! You'll get them, and yourself, in trouble. Friendships are acceptable during the end of their junior weyrlingship and during senior weyrlingship, but nothing romantic. Come on, you know you can wait until they graduate =P

Senior Weyrlings:
1. Relationships are allowed, but are refrained from anything physically serious, especially if they are an age that would keep them from graduating from the Weyrling class even if their dragon is old enough.
2. All classes must be attended, unless given other orders, or are ill.
3. Weapons are allowed at this point and time, but it is a privaledge, not a right. They will be taken away if this privaledge is abused.
4.Permission must be granted to leave the Weyr, and until you and your dragon have mastered flight and /betweening/, you will not be allowed to go by yourself.
5. There is no true curfew at this point, but like a dragonrider, you will be expected to have enough rest to wake promptly and be able to do your duties.
6.Senior Weyrlings are not allowed to participate in flights. Your dragon will be too immature, and if pressured into doing so they may injure themselves, for even though they are nearing adulthood, they are not yet fully grown.
7. Sex During Weyrlinghood: Once a dragon reaches 9 to 12 months of age, it reaches a safe time for women who are inhibited by virginity to take care of the issue, especially green and blueriders. Queenriders may wait until her dragon is 12 to 18 months of age as golds mature more slowly.

Junior Weyrlings:
1. Relationships of anything past friendships is prohibited. It will psychologically harm your dragon because they need your full attention, especially at this stage. If a relationship forms, one of you will be moved to another Weyr, and if a pregnancy results if the two people are of different genders, then it will be aborted, for your dragon would not be able to handle or understand the pain of childbirth.
2. No weapons of any sort.
3. Do not try to ride your dragon outside of classes.
4. Attend all classes.
5. Do not leave Weyr grounds without being in the company of someone of high rank.
6. Always be in by curfew.
7. Always put your dragon first.

Candidates:
1. Leaving the Weyr grounds without permission will result in the termination of your candidacy.
2. Forming close intimate or romantic relationships will result in either termination of candidacy, or being seperated from that person.
3. No weapons of any sorts
4. Sandals and white robes must be worn to the hatching
5. No candidate.. or anyone else for that matter, is allowed on the sands before hatching time unless accompanied by the queen's rider.
6. Sex During Candidacy: This practice is generally discouraged in most situations, but in the case of women and their virginity they are discreetly encouraged to lose their inhibitions between clutches, but only if contraceptive herbs are used. Pregnancies must be aborted before a hatching.

General Population:
1. No killing/harrassing/abducting, etc. people, dragons, or animals.
2. Always do your duty no matter what your job is.
3. Do not steal anything from either an individual or the Weyr itself. The stuff in storage is for everyone not just one person. Dragonriders getting together over a bottle of wine is acceptable though, because everyone loves drunk dragonriders =P. Just don't take Alesia's private stash, or she may maul you.

McCaffrey's Rules (ripped blatantly from Tiazora's Webpage. ^^; Sorry Eckos.)
1. You may not use any of Ms. McCaffrey's copyrighted characters in any form. Your persona can not be a descendant of one of her characters and you may not mention any of her characters in posts.
2. Your persona may be from any book location except Benden or Ruatha, but may not post there. Book locations can be mentioned, but this is discouraged.
3. Dragon names must end in "th". Dragon names close to the ones in the books (EX: Ramoth/Ramonth, Prideth/Prydeth) should be avoided.
4. There are only _five_ colors of dragons and firelizards. These are gold, bronze, brown, blue and green.
5. Only goldriders can be Weyrwomen.
6. Dragons do not outlive their riders. When their rider dies, a dragon suicides by going between.
7. We are playing in Anne's Pern. As such, there will be no outside visitors to Pern (EX: Power Rangers, Jedi, or people from AM's other series), nor is there magic, telepathy, and anything of that sort. It is a science fiction series, people, not fantasy.

8. Dragons Impress as follows:
Gold - heterosexual females only
Bronze - heterosexual males only
Brown - heterosexual/occasional bisexual
Blue - bisexual/homosexual males & females
Green - homosexual/occasional bisexual males & all females

((Ok, I know what you are probably thinking about the blue and green riders. What it says up there is normally how it would go in the books, but you do not have to make your characters bi/homosexual if you do not wish them to be. I will allow straight male green riders and straight female and male blue riders, but as for the gold, bronze, and brown riders, those do not change.))

I think I went a bit overboard with the rules.. but I think I pretty much covered everything ^^;

Question: Who are the current council members? For a t ime I was one at Kharasi-that-was, but I don't know how things stand now.

Beyond that, I'm going to assume that most of the things that we'd agreed upon in the past are still cool, such as the goings on at Thyra Hold etc.

Nako - February 12, 2007 12:03 AM (GMT)
The council members are pretty much.. me right now o_o I'll wait a while before adding anyone on, like after Iolath's flight and whatnot.

The Dragons are allowed their normal Telekinetics, correct? Just making sure, some people say that it isn't canon even though it actually IS if you've read the whole series...

Feel free to delete or move this if it's in the wrong place by the way...

Nako - February 25, 2007 02:58 PM (GMT)
Telekenetics -technically- exist, but I don't want it implemented just yet. I'd rather find a time and a place for actually finding it out, designating -which- character(s) find it out, etc. It's a pretty easily abused/overused kind of thing.. sort of like HADs. I've been giving it lots of thought though, and it will need much more thought before I come to a decision.
